Chapter 19

"Woah, is that old guy wearing shorts during the winter? Wait, the real question is that old guy wearing shorts?" Nick said as we exited the plane. I rolled my eyes at him,

"Nick, if you haven't noticed we are in the sunshine state. If you look up the sun is right there. Beaming down on us. And besides, we've only been here for five seconds and Im already sweating like a dog. Oh how I miss Florida." I said sighing as I looked up at the clear blue sky, with the blazing sun.

Nick sighed, "Those are some very valid points." Again, I rolled my eyes. We were heading towards the airport which I really hope had air conditioning. We walked passed the old man wearing shorts and Nick visibly shuddered. I laughed and guided him towards the airport.

Once we were inside I quickly took in the cooling air. I sighed in relief when the cool air, cooled my burning skin. Okay, maybe Im over-exaggerating. But, I already have a tan and we've only been here for like a minute.

I grabbed Nick's arm and walked towards the exit, "I can't wait to scare the pancakes out of my family. I can just imagine the pancake batter oozing out of them." I said, smirking at the thought. Nick raised an eye row at me,

"Should I be worried-"

"No no, my plan involves me yelling at the top of lungs two very frowned upon words." Nick chuckled,

"Frowned upon? Okay, what are the two words?" He asked, not even hiding the excitement in his eyes. I smirked at him,

"Thats for me to know, and you to find out. Now, come on! We can walk." I said, and Nick groaned. I rolled my eyes and continued to walk towards the exit after grabbing my bags. Nick looked down at my big bag, and then at his big bag,

"I don't think we can walk with all this baggage. Plus, it's just too hot." He said frowning. I sighed and tapped my finger on my chin. What should I do. Walk and possibly die from the heat and exhaustion. Or, sit here and think of a plan where there's air conditioning. A truly hard decision as you can tell.

"Emma?" A male voice stated. I turned around and came face to face with my old crush. Matt. The guy that was so close to asking me out, before I left for California. So close. My green eyes connected with his green eyes, and I could tell he still had feelings for me. See, so close.

Nick cleared his throat, even though I haven't forgotten him. He raised an eyebrow , and looked between Matt and I. It was a look that said, 'Who the hell is he? And why the hell does he know your name?' I smiled at Nick, even though it freaked me out that I could read him so well,

"Matt this is Nick, Nick this is Matt. We go way back." Matt rolled his eyes,

"Sure. Wow, Emma you look as beautiful as ever. Still breaking hearts?" He asked and I shrugged instantly thinking of Trevor,

"Eh, what can I say. What are you doing here? At an airport?" I asked, and Matt gave me an odd look,

"Emma, you don't remember? We use to hang out at the airport all the time." He said and I suddenly remembered how most juniors and seniors from school hung out at the airport. We use to watch the airplanes fly away. It sounds weird, but it was actually pretty cool.

"Oh yeah." I said nodding. Matt raised an eyebrow at me,

"So, what's going on? You already gotten yourself expelled? Again?" He asked and I frowned at him,

"No. We have the week off. I just came a day early to pull a prank on my family." I said and he had this worried look on his face,

"Ah, so you're still pranking? Just don't do anything dangerous. I know what happens when you prank. Emily's eyebrows hasn't grown back the same since her party last summer." I laughed as I thought about the summer prank.
