"No!"

I narrowed my eyes, patience thinning, "I'm starting to not give a damn that you're the one that created my fiancé. I really just want you to listen to me for a damn minute!"

"No," he repeated, his moss eyes cutting me, "you aren't allowed to see her,"

"It's not like you give a damn about her!"

"She's my daughter,"

"And you're a horrible father,"

"You little shit!-"

"Jared!"

Before he could make a move for my throat, Lisa suddenly was there, her voice rising like I had never heard before. I stared at her in surprise as she walked into the corridor to the door frame where I was standing. She smiled at me, making her seem beautiful, "Jayy, honey. It's been so long." Her gaze went from me to her husband, "What are you two fussing about on the porch where the neighborhood can hear?"

She pushed him aside a bit before opening the door more, "come in. I'll make some tea,"

Jared muttered something censord under his breath before glaring at me and brushing past his wife and into the house as I just stared at my future mother-in-law in amazement, stepping into the heated home, "I've never seen you stand up to him like that,"

She beamed me a proud smile as she shut the door, leading me into the kitchen that smelt like apple cider, "Ever since the threat Dahvie put onto him, his mood has completely changed. It might not seem it, but he has gotten better. I believe that has made me feel less..."

"Cornered?" I finished for her, taking a seat at the island as she moved to the stove, taking out a kettle.

She smiled, "Yes, that."

It was silent for a few minutes, besides the small sound of the water running and the stove doing that annoying click click click thing before it turned on. I allowed my gaze go around the place, noticing it felt a lot warmer and looked more comforting than I expected it too since Jared was here.

"Dahvie grew up here?" I couldn't help but ask. It seemed pretty peachy.

"Yes. He actually used to sit exactly where you are right now for all of his meals," she poured the now boiling water into some cute little China cups, "how is the work life?"

I smiled, "its going very well. Dahvie and I are actually going on tour after the wedding,"

She looked at me dumbfounded, "what wedding?"

I halted. I forgot she didn't know. Well, we haven't really been on speaking terms because of Jared. Ah well, she'll find out eventually, "Well. I asked him almost a year ago to marry me,"

That seemed to surprise Lisa to the core as she was bringing the tea to me, almost spilling it everywhere. She looked at me exasperated, joy shining on her face, "really?!"

Before I could answer, the china was placed on the table before she ran over and crushed me in a hug so sudden I almost tumbled out of my seat, all of the oxygen leaving my lungs. I tried to hug her back, but my breath kind of needed to return first, "Lisa... Air,"

She quickly released me, but that didn't stop her from giving me a wolfish grin as she clutched my shoulders, jumping up and down, "My son is getting married!"

I couldn't help but smile at her as I rubbed my sore abdomen. Damn, she might be around her late forties, but she can tackle like a bull.  I let out a breathless laugh, "yes, yes. Now calm yourself before you get hurt. Or I get hurt,"
