Rachel POV

My plan is working perfectly. My parents have no idea about my new friend. I have so badly wanted to tell them on numerous occasions but I then remember the promise I made. I haven't seen him at school in the last few days, everyday at recess I wait for him in the yard. I look out into the streets in hope that I will see his face once again. I try and talk as little as possible. I am afraid that if I do talk I might say something. Alexis and Ryan are always asking me why I don't play with them as much anymore. "I don't know" I would reply. "Is everything okay?" Alexis would always ask. "Yep" They would just walk away with sad expressions on their faces. I felt bad for making them sad but they didn't understand. One day I thought I saw him walking down the road so I waved my hands in the air in a desperate attempt to get his attention. When the man turned to face me it was just some random stranger going for and afternoon walk. He said he was my friend yet he hasn't come by to say hello. Did I do something wrong?

Today Daddy dropped me off at school before he went to work. He has been acting really weird lately. I sit beside Alexis. "Hi!" "Hi" she replies not looking up from her puzzle. Her voice was quiet. I didn't know what to say. "Umm, are you okay?" "Yes" "Tell me what's wrong" "Nothing" I was getting angry, why was she acting like this? "Why are you being mean?" She looks up from her puzzle looking like she wanted to punch the day lights out of me. "Cause it's what you do!" She stood up from her puzzle and stormed to the other side of the room. I sat feeling ashamed of myself. I felt awful. I wasn't trying to act like that, I just didn't want to tell my secret. Ryan saw I was upset and sat beside me. He put his hand on mine trying to comfort me. I saw bruises all up his arm. "Don't feel bad, she is just a little hot headed" I smiled at Ryan, he always knew how to cheer me up. "Thanks Ryan" He leaned over and kissed me on the cheek. I immediately blushed. I forgot everything about the last week. "What was that?" He looked embarrassed. "I'm sorry" I punched him in the arm playfully. We both smiled and laughed our heads off. "Urg, would you losers please shut up?" I sat up from my tantrum of giggles. I stared up at Bridget with her friends behind her. "I'm sorry" She laughed in my face and walked away. "Why do you let her push you around like that?" Ryan asks serious now. I shrug my shoulders. I didn't really know why.

It was the end of the day and I was getting ready to go home. When I went out to my cubby hole in the hallway I saw a price if paper sticking out of my bag that wasn't there earlier. I walk up to my bag and pull it out. It was crumpled and ripped at the edges. There were only two words on the piece of paper. I'm not the best reader but I knew these words. They filled me with joy and I started getting all happy inside. He didn't forget me.
