Chapter 8

Rose was waiting for her dad at the store, he was going to drop her off at Michaels, but he was giving instructions to Lucy and Eliot. Rose wasn't listening. She was too busy thinking about if Michael was her mate and what exactly Dwayne is hiding.

''We can go now, Rose'' Max said. She followed him to his car.

''Dad I need advice'' she said as she sat in his car with him.

''What is it'' he asked as he started driving.

''Dwayne has been acting very odd lately. Like he's hiding something. He's always sneaking off, always looking guilty and not to sound gross but um... We haven't done it in a while''

Max gave her a concerning look. ''Maybe you should speak to him about it. He might just want to spend some quality time with you''

Rose nodded and looked out of the window. A million thoughts were running through her head. Is he bored of her? Has she done something to upset him? Is he cheating? Has she got fat? She snapped out her thoughts as the car stopped. ''Have fun'' Max said as she got out of the car. She waved at him and knocked on the door.

The door opened by Michael. She smiled and jumped into his arms. She hugged him like no tomorrow. She never asked but a hug was what she needed right now. He stood there in shock but then embraced her. She let go and smiled ''If your mom hasn't told you, I'm babysitting Sam tonight until she comes home''

''She told me. Come in before you freeze to death'' they laughed and walked inside

Rose looked around. ''It's a nice place'' she said

Michael scratched the back of his neck. ''Sorry, it looks...weird in the living room''

''No worries'' Rose smiled. ''Hey, do you lift'' she pointed to the weights

''Yeah sometimes'' he blushed a little

Rose smirked ''Cool''

They walked to the living room ''Same get down here'' Michael yelled

''Wait a minute, I need to sort out my batman comic collection'' he yelled from upstairs

Rose turned to him ''How about I see you before I leave tonight if you're okay with that. I need to tell you something''

Michael nodded ''Yeah, sure'' he replied

Rose smiled and went upstairs. She found Sam's room (it was obvious with all the comic posters) she knocked on the door

The knock made him jump ''C-come in'' he said

Rose opened the door ''Hey'' she smiled

He mumbled a hey back. Rose looked at his comics. ''Oh my god is that the batman number fourteen'' she pointed at one of the books

Sam nodded and looked at her confused

''I haven't read the book yet. I looked all over in the comic store's in the area but they sold out'' she said excitedly. She noticed the way he looked at her

''What'' she asked

''You like comic books?'' he asked

''Yeah'' Rose said

Sam smiled ''Really''

''Yeah, what's wrong with that'' Rose asked

''N-nothing, I'm just surprised someone like you is a comic nerd''

''What do you mean 'someone like me'' she said as she slumped on the bed looking through the comic books

He grabbed the book from her hands ''You look popular and cool'' he said

Rose scoffed ''I'm neither of those things'' she said ''I love your comic selection. Lemme help you sort them out'' she smiled

Sam thought for a minute. He was very protective over his comics ''Okay''

Rose smiled and stood up ''Okay then''

Michael was standing by the door, watching them. He started to fall for her more and more.

Rose said goodbye to Sam and went downstairs. She went into the kitchen where Michael was

''It's a bit late to be doing weights'' she smirked

He dropped the weights ''S-sorry I was uh-''

''It's okay'' Rose cut him off and smiled ''Just don't overwork it. And there's something I need to tell you'' she said

''What is it'' he asked as he went up to her

Rose took a deep breath. She had to tell him ''I don't want this to affect our friendship or anything'' he looked at her worriedly ''It's nothing bad... I hope'' she twiddled her thumbs. She never really makes the first move

''The thing is...I really like you. And I want to spend more time with you and maybe, I don't know be something m-'' she was cut off by Michael putting his lips on hers. She was shocked at first, but she relaxed and kissed back.

He wrapped his arms around her waist as she wrapped hers around his shoulders. The kiss was soft and gentle, yet firm. This was the nicest kiss she's ever had. She pulled away and smiled ''Is that a yes?'' she asked

Michael leaned his forehead against hers ''Definitely''

Rose took his big hand in her small ones. ''I gotta go'' she said

Michael nodded ''Yeah. I'll see you soon?''

''Yeah, sure. Call me or something'' she smiled and left.

She walked down the road a little and she saw Max's bike. She quickly ran and jumped in ''What's the rush'' he asked

''Michael kissed me. He's my mate'' she said

''Well, that's good news, right?''

''No...'' she said and looked out the window

''Why? Has he done something to you''

''No. He's so kind and caring. I don't think he's fit to be a vampire. He has a future ahead of him. We will change him, but slowly'' she looked at him ''You deserve to be happy too''

Max gave her a small smile ''Let's get you home''

Max drove her to the boardwalk, she got out and started looking for the boys. She went to the usual spot. All except one were there. Rose cursed to herself and walked up to them ''Where the hell is Dwayne'' she asked

Paul and Marko shrugged. She rolled her eyes and went to David ''He's my mate'' she said

David rolled his eyes and huffed. He looked at her ''Then it's about time we should meet him''
