What may have been

I often lose myself in those deep blue eyes
and my legs go weak when she says hello
I desire her like a child does for a carnival prize
as I love her more than she'll could ever know.

We'd make quite the pair, an uncanny match
for tis a shame she doesn't feel the same
as I am no slouch and I'm quite the catch
she would be lucky to have me and my name.

Yet I'm the coward for not stepping forward
afraid to proudly declare to her how I really feel
for what I fear is that my words will be ignored
so does such despair mean my love is real?

I may never find out what could have been
but whenever in her company, I always win.
