Geisha - They are traditional Japanese female entertainers who act as hostesses and whose skills include performing various Japanese arts such as classical music, dance, games and conversation, mainly to entertain male customers.
Kimono - The kimono is a Japanese traditional garment.
Mou - Used when complaining
Ka - Used instead of a question mark.
~Nee-San - Older Sister, Used in the geisha house's for one's senior and role model. Trainee geisha, called maiko, take a certain geisha as their teacher, calling them Nee-san, or simply Nee.
San- Used while giving respect to people, like Mr, Mrs, Miss.
Ne - Used as - Isn't it, Huh?, (used in agreement to something)
Ano - Used while asking permission, like 'excuse me'.
Sou - Used like 'Is that it?'
Okaa-San - Mother, Used in geisha houses for the head of geisha's
Itterashai - While seeing someone off, means 'Go and come back safely'.
Ittekimasu - While leaving one's house, means 'Will go and come back safely'.
Tadaima - While coming back, means 'Have come back safely.'
Okaeri - When someone comes back means 'Welcome back'
Engawa - It is the corridor that has the sliding door to both the back garden and the living room on either side.
Hanamizu - Lit. Flower Water, In this context it is the name of the Geisha house.
Shamisen - It is a traditional three stringed Japanese instrument.
Showa - Like in the gregorian calendar there are divisions, A.D and B.C, the Japanese calendar is divided into different periods. The Showa period is extended from 1926-1989.
