Chapter four: Cat and Mouse

"Marinette..."

"Hm?"

"I have to go."

"Why?"

"Well, the sun is rising for starters."

Marinette sat up and turned around to look at Char Noir.
She cracked the door to the roof open and saw it was getting lighter outside.

"I'm so sorry. I didn't know what time it was."

"It's okay, Princess. I didn't want to wake you up."

"Thank you for staying with me, Chat Noir."

"Anytime. I'll see you later if I'm still welcome."

Marinette laid back down, "I'll see you later."

Only an hour later, Marinette's alarm went off and she had to get ready for school.

"I think I'm going to start leaving my hair down. I like the way it looks like this."

"This has nothing to do with Chat Noir, right?"

"Why would it?"

"He said it looked beautiful."

"No, Tikki. It has nothing to do with him."

In the corner of her eyes, she saw a purple flash, "Mayura?"

Marinette looked at her phone and there was no Akuma's or Amok's anywhere, "She's up to something. We need to follow her."

"I think you should go to school and keep alert."

"I can't..."

Marinette walked downstairs to her parents eating breakfast.

"Are you going to eat before you go to school, hun?"

"Actually, mom and dad. I don't feel too good today. Can I stay home today and ask Alya to bring my schoolwork."

"Of course. Do you need anything?"

"No, thank you. I just need rest for now."

Sabine kissed Marinette on the cheek.

After talking to her parents, Marinette ran back upstairs and opened the Miracle box.

"Sorry, Tikki but, using Mullo right now is the best option."

"I understand. Also, you should probably tell Alya that you'll be late for school. To avoid more questions later."

She quickly texted Alya then grabbed the mouse miraculous, "Mullo, get squeaky!"

Adrien walked into class and sat next to Nino, "Hey, Alya. Can we trade spots again?"

"I don't think that will be very effective. Marinette isn't coming until after lunch."

"Why? Is she ok?"

Nino and Alya looked at each other knowing that Marinette didn't want to see Adrien.
