Chapter 14 ~ Liam

She’s so beautiful, so natural and simple but stunning at the same time. She doesn’t need to wear tones of makeup or the latest outfit to make me breathless, she just needs to stand there in front of me with a shy smile, her flushed cheeks and her eyes shining in a way so special that makes my heart beat faster. Every time I see her, the effect she has on me is stronger.

During the ride we keep a casual conversation about what we have done during these few days we haven’t seen each other. She asks me a lot about all the things we’ve done with the lads for the band, I can sense the real and sincere concern in her voice with every question.

“And are you getting enough rest? Maybe it’s too much and you should slow down a tad bit, don’t you think?” She comments and I take a glimpse of her from the corner of my eye, I see her worried eyes on me.

“Sometimes we wish we could slow down a bit, but we can’t. It’s not in our hands. It’s the speed of our lives right now and we can only run to keep up with it,” I explain and she nods.

“Then you need to be more careful with your health, some of the things you do are not compulsory and maybe they can wait until you have a bit more of free time,” Darcy suggests and I smile.

She cares about us… she cares about me, my health and if I’m doing fine. She is showing how she wants me to feel better and to be fine and that gives me a warm sensation in my chest. It’s so good to feel like this, like there’s someone out there caring about me, and that this person is Darcy makes it all better.

“I promise you I’ll be more careful about it,” I state and her smile is so precious.

We finally arrive to this country house that I bought some time ago to have a place where to run if things get too crazy, some place where no one knows me and I can be alone with my thoughts. It’s an average cottage, really cosy and I pay to a woman who lives nearby to come here once a week and keep it clean and tidy.

I decided to bring Darcy here because no one will bother us, we will be left alone and we won’t have to care about anything. We can arrive and leave without anyone taking pictures and blinding us with flashes. We can have a conversation without caring someone might be taking pictures from a corner. It will be only Darcy and I. Furthermore; I know she values these kinds of gestures.

We get off the car and I take all what I’ve prepared from the boot and lead her inside the house. Claudine, the woman who comes to take care of the house every week, came before to prepare everything so when we walk in, the fireplace is burning bright and the house is warm.

Darcy looks around taking notice of every detail and I see in her smile how she likes this place. “This is beautiful, I love it,” she states looking at the pictures on the walls. They are pictures of my family and the lads. “Is this cottage yours?” She asks me, her lovely smile still on her lips.

“Yeah. Sometimes I come here to have a rest, you know, to escape from the world,” I reply and she nods, her smile wider.

“I love it,” Darcy states and I can’t help myself from smiling proud of myself. That she likes this place means a lot already.

“Do you want to sit next to the fireplace?” I ask and she looks at it then nods.

So I set everything up for us to have our picnic inside. I brought many things though I had made many more but Niall stole them. There’re sandwiches, some fruit that wasn’t easy to get in this season, brownies, cookies, tea and other few small things. They are not the most amazing things, but I prepared them or went to the grocery store to get them. I just want this to be very personal.
