the sky felt heavy yet warm above her head as she rode on the back of her creamy brown horse she had named "mapel", the sunlight began to dim, painting the infamous orangy-red sunset on the sky,

elizabeth was on her way back from her meeting with Erwin, travelling back slowly to the cabin

however, her mind felt like a train station rushed with thoughts

why had she felt so scared when erwin brought up the idea for levi to be transferred to another team? why did she care so much about what was to happen to that stranger

she thought back, back to when they first met. she could still picture vividly the cold stern look levi had on his face, that disgusted facial expression when she told him their rooms were right next to each other, levis mockery of her the first morning together as he teased her for her loud snores, probably because the walls were paper thin, and during the darkest hours of the night, they could still faintly hear each others snores and breathing

a secret comfort elizabeth cherished

she hated sleeping alone in the dark, sub-coming to complete pitch-black still made shivers run down her spine, but when levi joined that all changed. he too breathed pretty loudly during the night, so she would turn to the other side which faced the wall and carefully place her ear next to the smooth wall, to hear his heavy breathing which always calmed her down

it was nice to be reminded she wasn't alone.

at first she hated him, she hated everything about him with everything she had. his simple existence annoyed her from time to time, how could he be so distant? so cold? so hesitant to form even the simplest of bonds with her

now.. now that hatred was gone, dispersed into the air like a mere dust particle

somewhere along the lines, not only did she get used to him. but he became almost like her person. hanging around him felt different, as if they understood each other, but they didn't at the same time. yet when it came down too it, elizabeth longed for his company, his soothing voice, his dark shallow eyes. when she thought about him, she didn't see just a simple stuck up guy anymore, she saw a person she wanted to protect for the rest of her days, someone who was hurt badly in the past, who she just wanted to hug and to hold them tight. to remind them they would never be alone again, they would never get hurt again

because she would be there with him

that once burning hatred had became a warm love, a passionate one in between two people who had gone through hell and back to find each other

to realise just how badly they needed each other.

the impossible became the possible, elizabeth had believed her youth, the young day-dreaming girl she once was, was gone for good, buried deep underground. but that all changed when she met the man who made her believe in fairy tails and love stories again

she hadn't met her prince charming, she had met her person, her human

the sun travelled lower down as elizabeths horse rode up into the hilly area which stood the cabin

her heart tightened

there he was
