the worn out ackerman reached out for the beige duvet, bringing it up closer to his chin as he felt his head finally rest peacefully against the warm fluffy pillow

he felt a wave of tranquillity as he could still see elizabeth sat in the arm chair placed next to his bed, the captains head was slightly leaned over to her left side, gazing at levi with a small smirk on the side of her lips

"stop looking over into my direction and get some sleep already" she argued softly

levi flipped his body over to the side so their faces were placed in the same direction, he liked to watch how her eyes watched over him,

he hadn't felt this sort of calmness before going to sleep since before his mother passed away

she too used to sit in the chair next to his bed before the night fell, singing him lullabies throughout the darkest hours

"thankyou hippo" he said quietly into his pillow

"huh what did you say" she giggled leaning in closer to the bed

"you know damn well what i said" he protested, although elizabeth could see his toothy grin coming through ever so slightly

the silent sound of the world sleeping crept in through the window like the moonlight glow, levis heavy breathing becoming suddenly hearable as the exhausted man fell asleep in a matter of seconds after soothing his mind and body

elizabeth could tell how much he really needed some rest

once again, with no thoughts or worries running through his mind, the ackerman looked years younger, his neutral face hanged open as his lips were partially parted for breathing, his eyes delicately laid closed, elizabeth felt proud of how restful he appeared to look

somehow he looked even more ethereal as he laid resting

elizabeth crept up to his bed and placed her warm fingertips onto his rosy cheeks, she bent down to place her lips on top of his forehead, quietly whispering "sweet dreams levi"
