𝑪𝒉𝒂𝒑𝒕𝒆𝒓 15

a single twitch began to form underneath her eye on the left side of her face, as the terror and anxiety creeped into her stomach, poking around at the place which made elizabeth feel nauseous.. eating so many pastries for breakfast was a horrid idea

especially when she was awaiting to have a meeting with her older brother, more formally know as commander erwin

a meeting which he had specifically requested

she sat there in the cold hallways of the commanders and higher up captains offices, just the environment in which she was placed in made her feel inadequate. important officers, officers who were in charge of walls and districts passed by her, looking down on her

elizabeth was still significantly younger than most of the captains she knew

she sat with her back straightened up and her chin raised high in the air, one of these days she would be seated where her brother was, she would be an important woman of power. no deathly glares from ancient commanders would intimidate her

"elizabeth smith.. you may come in, the commander is ready for you" a man with a large beard came to inform her

her body leaped up from the chair excitedly, her hands held together professionally behind her back as she gave the man a little nod as a way of thanking him

her mind rushed with thoughts as she walked down the hallways to arrive at her brothers domain, she hadn't got the chance to see him since.. since levi joined her squad. she was startled to realise two months had already flown past

as she stepped into the room, a thundering "LIZZIE!" came from the commanders lips in a booming tone

erwin got up from his seat to give his baby sister a welcoming hug, along with a tender peck on the forehead. the commander would never admit to this but he had a large soft spot for the woman he got to call his little sister

"Erwin, how you doing" she said giggling as she stepped back from her brothers tight embrace

"im good! but lets talk about you, my lord sis how much you've grown in just two months!" he chuckled warmly, wrapping his arms around her shoulders

"you dumbass i haven't grown since i was 15" she shot back looking up at him

unfortunately, her older brother had inherited all the good genes from their family.. erwin was a whooping 6 foot 3, whilst for elizabeth.. she was left short standing at 5 foot 2

"irrelevant, now please, sit down we have a lot to catch up on, and to discuss"

elizabeth squirmed inside, she anticipated for erwin to not bring up what she thought he was going to bring up

the girl took a seat in front of his desk and raised both legs onto the chair with her so she was sitting as if she was on the floor

"haven't changed much i see.. you still cant sit on a chair properly" erwin laughed, it was refreshing to see his lizzie hadn't grown up so much after all

"you're annoying, you know that?" she grinned

erwin smiled back, looking down at a couple of sheets of paper on his desk, which appeared to have just about hundreds of tiny black ink words scribbled all over them

elizabeth suddenly felt the anxiety crawl back into her body.. what were those papers about?

"look lizzie, im not gonna beat around the bush. I've received complaints.. and heard rumours about you're newest recruit causing some issues in public.. his name was levi ackerman i believe"

elizabeths eyes widened as her body straightened up in fear, she took a short breath in as she protested "erwin please you have to believe me when i tell you levi meant no harm, he never has. what happened in krovla wasn't his fault, two thugs began winding him up thats all"

the commander looked hesitant, problems with scout members would be another factor which would tarnish the reputation of the integrity of all scouts

however, he trusted his sister, she was wise beyond her years at times. and had always stood up for what she believed was right, a strong trait she possessed as a child which carried with her onto adulthood

"i believe you, but you have to be honest with me when i ask if you want him transferred to a different team.. that man doesn't have to be your responsibility if you see best fit"

her heart suddenly felt as though it had dropped into the lowest corner of her stomach, levi moving to a different team? to not see him every morning, day and night. to not see him walk outside just to watch the sunset rise into the sky every evening, or the way in which he twirled the grass around his bony fingers whenever he felt nervous, or that ridiculous smirk which always made her body fell intoxicated with ticklish butterflies

"NO" she shot back, she hadn't intended it to sound so desperate, but she couldn't help it, thats how she felt at that current time

the simple idea of it made her feel stricken with fear

elizabeth tried to re-compose herself, replying more calmly with "he wont be a problem, i can take care of him. another incident wont happen again"

the two siblings stayed together in the office for the remaining hour, reminiscing about old times and catching up with each other about how their current lives were doing, elizabeth quickly realised just how much she had missed talking to her older brother, he had always felt like a parental figure to her, so seeing him, hugging him, felt like a warm kiss from home she needed

their time together came to and end, but as elizabeth was about to walk out from the door, she heard the voice of her brother speak

"this levi ackerman.. is there anything going on between you two"

her head shot back "no, why would there be"
