Sierra just wanted to have a normal, fun-filled summer with her friends, but strange howls emanate from a mysterious tower in downtown Brooklyn, soldiers bust up a party and then a whole new, monster-filled world reveals itself. The original draft of the award-winning, NY Times bestselling YA fantasy SHADOWSHAPER was a very different book. Join Sierra and her friends as they jump headfirst into the mysterious battle raging at the secret heart of Brooklyn.

What smooth writing! You introduce us to your main character in such an easy, natural way, no author intrusion at all. And she's an intriguing character. Wonderful flow and pacing. I'm putting this one in my library!

Oh my gosh, I love all this language. I have no idea what it means but I feel like I'm on holiday somewhere fabulous.

This chapter is indeed totally different. The focus in this draft on school makes Sierra seem younger somehow. Fascinating how drafts work.
Wow, a very relatable and haunting opening! I like the main character of Sierra and hope to see more of her. Of course, I haven't read Shadowshaper but maybe I will sometime lol. The Vault seems very interesting and already does this story achieve in having diversity! Great opening chapter! ouo)b
@DanielJoseOlder I hope you don't mind that I made a video about this.
