Blair's seventh birthday was the end for her family. Her father, a bishop, got wasted and drove right into the side of their small-town church. He'd thought he was late for Sunday mass. On a Tuesday, at three in the morning. Thankfully no one got seriously hurt but her father was rightfully excommunicated, and daddy dearest got thrown in jail. Blair and her mother were made into pariahs, and unable to cope with being alone, Grace took her daughter and fled back to her parents in Queen NY. Now almost a full-blown adult Blair, hardly ever thinks about him. She used to wonder what happened to him after he served his time, but even that interest faded after a while. A week before She returns from spring break to finish up her senior year her father comes knocking. Apparently, he's found God and he wants a chance to get to know his only child. He's backed by the leaders of the church, Mr. and Mrs. Black and they aren't above blackmail. They use Grace's addiction against Blair, threatening to derail the life they built by outing her mother. If the school found out one of their teachers was a coke sniffing opioid addict, they'd get rid of her mother in a heartbeat. She tells herself she only has to survive until she can slip away unnoticed, once everyone loses interest and she fades into the background. But all her plans go up in smoke when it becomes evident that Mrs. Black has no intention of letting her go anywhere. Glacier blue eyes track her every move as a heated game of cat and mouse ensues. Something about the woman calls to a Darker side of Blair, a demonic side she's always kept hidden. Somewhere along the way the lines between fantasy and reality blur and she finds herself swept into a dark abyss by the woman behind those predatory eyes.
