Morse code was invented in the 1830s near Boston, Massachusetts, USA. Samuel Finley Breese Morse would soon change the course of history. Samuel Morse and a fellow inventor named Alfred Vail quickly began prototyping faster and more efficient modes of communication, eventually settling on the Telegraph. Because this telegraph could transmit and detect electrical pulses, they were able to transcribe the alphabet into a series of dots and dashes as long and short electrical pulses. The ease of telegraphing these letters in morse code would be determined by their frequency in the English dictionary.
