"I promise he changed..."
"Will you come crying to me again tomorrow?"
It's hard to fall out of love, but it's damn easy to fall in. I learned this the hard way. She needed saving, but I don't think it's me who she expected would save her. After all, she didn't feel that way towards me. We were strictly friends. Besides, she was in a relationship, but he was an asshole.
It's hard to love someone who doesn't love you back, it's even harder when they're constantly hurt and you know you can't do anything about it.
He raped her, beat her to near death and dropped her by the highway; only to appear at my door days later, demanding for me to 'return what's his'. She'd come to me crying whenever he broke yet another promise. She wanted to be saved. She needed it.
I fell for her smile, her body was to die for, but seeing it so bruised and beaten whenever I laid eyes on it angered me. She was so pure and selfless, ready to sacrifice anything to make others happy. It amazed me.
I knew I was running out of time. But I was sure I could make it. I could help her, be what she needed, deserved.
I just had to find a way to do it.
