While waiting on his forever-late friend Talam, Free decides to kill time by browsing a cluttered bookstore. There he is handed a copy of "The Faraway Tree" - a book that, according to the old lady behind the counter, has been waiting for him since the day he was born. Unbeknownst to Free, this book is a doorway to a whole 'nother world where nothing is as it first appears. "The Faraway Tree" marries the Oral Traditions and Folklore of the New World with the spirit of traditional Fairy Tales - both of which are mired in stories as dark as night and the fear of things that go bump in the night.
