[[Book 2 (FINAL book) of "One Lifetime is Never Enough"]]

"I would have waited for you forever."
The lament of a faraway voice that she had missed - that she had been longing to answer to - echoed in her mind.

"But, you are no longer here."
The despairing sigh was a muted murmur - clawing at her, begging for her to respond.

But she was there, here, wherever the voice was. But then again, she might as well was not. She could no longer see, could no longer reach him. The voice sounded so near, but it was also as far as another world she could no longer be in.

Nevertheless, she could still feel, in the darkness that was cradling her non-existence; the agony she felt in her non-beating heart, in her dormant soul, it was all due to her longing.

For the owner of the voice. For him.

The voice kept begging in agony - tormenting her, tormenting himself. And she could not do anything.

"Please wait for me."
"Please remember me."
"Why... why can't I see you?"
"Won't you wait for me?"

-----------------

For you, I will wait for eternity.
This time, I will wait.
This time, it is my turn to wait.
So please, please just let me find you.
Please, be there when I find you.
Please, tell me that you are still mine.
That I still exist, perhaps not in your memory, but etched in your very soul.
Like you have been deeply engraved in mine, lingering like a beautiful illness I will gladly bear and succumb to.

Because, I will search to all corners of this world, and wait until the end of days. For you.
Because, this world will always be wretched without you.
And then, I will always, forever, bloom. For you.

Remember me? Few years ago... A night to remember. On a shallow road, with a seemingly never-ending rain pouring down heavily, and streetlights barely illuminating the place, silence seemed so right. It was an almost empty road but with two people. Few light rays hit them, making their silhouettes visible from afar. Drenched under the rain, the girl was standing like a statue. And in front of her was the boy, her long-term boyfriend. Her soul mate. The one she had been waiting for. But what is this? He smirked, finally breaking their silence. He told her 'it's over' so quickly, like they just played a game and she lost. He called it quits between her, and walked away without regret. His face, his gestures and his words were like spears stabbed into her soul. He didn't care. And being left alone, her shoulders shook and she covered her face with her hands as tears finally escaped from her eyes. Her knees felt numb and suddenly, she knelt down, still crying. Can you still remember me? I ask you this question. I was that girl few years ago. A fool, naïve girl who still believed that you're the one of the million. That I'm destined to only one man, a prince charming, and I believed it was you. But all of those were few years ago. My thoughts were changed. I began looking forward to an early death. The dream that I've always wanted to, a happy death, became impossible. How happy can I die, if forever, I will always carry and will not forget the memories and the pain you left me? But now my time has come. Time flew too fast. Few minutes more and I will leave Earth. Few short minutes more. I looked at the Seconds hand of the clock nearby. The clock is ticking. The time is running. I still have time to forgive you. Few more time to decide. But thinking about our past... will I still have the heart to forgive you to be able to achieve a happy death?

Reborn into the same world she died in, Eliax has to work through missing memories, assassinations, the nuances of other realms, and an unhealthy lack of self-preservation. But hey, that's just life there. -- Excerpt from chapter 6 -- He sighed, "Why don't you want to go through official training?" Because she wasn't ready. The resonance knew things about the ability that she hadn't pulled out of it yet. "I'm perfectly fine on my own. Do you need a demonstration or something?" The official paused, he seemed curious. Good. "Perhaps. What can you show me right now?" Sparks, she had to do something that was at least mildly impressive for her age and presumed skill level. "I...alright." She prodded at the realm of magic, the source of all spells and abilities. It was easily accessible. Thankfully, some places made it more and more difficult to open, but in the middle of a city where people had been using magic for thousands of years? Well, it was almost too easy. She bent the space at first, not so much drawing runes in the air as she was pulling them into sight. She could see them at all times, it was part of her magesight, most of what she needed when bending space was picking the right type of space to bend, some runes would never bind to regular matter, which was why it was so difficult to make a permanently distorted area since those runes were everywhere, tiny and hidden by Gium when he made the world. The small lines in the air grew brighter as she moved them, spurred by contact with the Between realm. ---Completed! Book 2 posting currently, found on my profile ^^---

Prologue: The Forgotten Tongue The sky above Ornea was painted in hues of crimson and gold, the final remnants of the sun fading behind towering mountains. A lone figure staggered through the ruins of an ancient temple, his breath ragged, his body battered. The inscriptions on the stone pillars glowed faintly, whispering secrets of a long-forgotten age. He traced his fingers over the intricate characters carved into the walls. 古之言,乃为天授 (Gǔ zhī yán, nǎi wéi tiān shòu) - "The ancient tongue is a gift from the heavens." The words pulsed with a strange warmth beneath his touch. The man, a scholar in his prime, had devoted his life to uncovering the truth behind the lost language of magic. He had believed that knowledge was power, but tonight, he understood its true meaning. A shadow loomed over him. From the darkness, a knight clad in black armor stepped forward, his eyes gleaming with cruel amusement. "Foolish old man," he sneered. "You wasted your life chasing words no one remembers." The scholar coughed, blood staining his lips. "You don't understand... the system... it weakens us. True power lies in the words themselves." The knight's blade descended. As the scholar's vision blurred, his trembling hands traced the final character in the dust. A single word. A final spell. 唤醒 (Huàn xǐng) - "Awaken." The temple trembled. Light burst forth from the carvings, illuminating the forgotten script that had once shaped the world. The knight staggered back, shielding his eyes. And in that moment, a pulse of power surged through Ornea, stretching across empires, kingdoms, and battlefields. Far away, in a different time and place, a young man gasped as foreign symbols burned into his mind. The forgotten tongue had found a new speaker. And the world would never be the same again.
