Guys! It's January, and I'm back. I want to thank you guys for over 1k reads it's so amazing!!!!!. And I saw that some of you were adding this story to Sophitz stories. Didn't I just explain in Taking a break that this was not going to be a Sophitz story? Anyways...
Here is the first chapter of 2021!
Crap.
Was the first thing Sophie thought as Keefe dragged her into the healing centre at FoxFire.
"Why are we here?" Sophie asked.
"Because this is where one of our physicians work," Keefe said in a "duh" tone.
"But the physician here is Elwin and he can't be your-," Sophie cut herself off when she saw the silly doctors standing beside a cot.
"Sophie!" He greeted. "Gotten another injury have you?"
"It's not my fault," Sophie told him.
"I know," he chuckled. "It never is. Now sit."
Sophie shakily followed his instructions and sat down on the cot.
She had been to the healing centre countless times, and every time she felt the same.
Sophie's breath caught in her throat as Keefe leaned in to whisper in her ear.
"You'll be fine."
Sophie nodded and watched as Keefe left her all alone with the nice but scary doctor.
She exhaled.
"You should know well enough that I don't do anything with needles," Elwin said.
Sophie nodded again.
"Oh, and I heard you should the order. Congrats!"
"Thanks."
"Okay, now what happened?"
"I, uh, ran to close to fire?"
Sophie was suddenly aware of the stinging all over her body.
"Good enough,"Elwin chuckled.
Elwin went into his private lab and Sophie could hear him rummaging through his many elixirs.
"Got it!" He called after a few minutes.
He walked back out, holding a bottle with yellowy-brown pulp inside.
Sophie made a face.
"Don't worry,you don't have to drink it," Elwin assured her. "But you might not want to know what's in it. Can you tell me where your burns are?"
"Mostly my arms and my legs, and my face."
"Okay."
Elwin poured some of the bottles contents onto his hand and rubbed both of his hands together. He spread the pulp all over both of her arms.
Sophie grimaced.
"Oh come on, you can't even smell it," Elwin said.
"But I can feel it and it feels nasty," Sophie told him.
"Well it helps you so get over it," he teased.
Sophie rolled her eyes.
"I will let you run it over your legs and face, cause I'm guessing you won't want me to."
Elwin handed her the bottle and went into his office.
Sophie looked at her burned legs and suddenly felt self conscious even though no one was there.
Shorts were not a very good decision for today.
She gagged as she poured the gross sludge onto her hands.
How does Elwin stand this stuff.
She rubbed it all over her legs and immediately felt the sting go away.
Sophie hesitantly smeared it on her cheeks.
You were wrong Elwin. I can smell it!
And ewwwwwwww.
She felt something rub against her legs. She looked down and saw a grey ferret laying down beside her feet.
Sophie screamed and immediately Elwin rushed out of his office and her friends barged into the healing centre.
She pulled her legs onto the cot, never letting her eyes stray from the little beast.
"What wrong?" Elwin asked worriedly the same time Fitz asked, "What happened?!"
Sophie pointed to the ferret and Elwin started to laugh.
"Oh that's just Bullhorn, my pet."
"Your pet?" Sophie said.
"Yeah, my pet," Elwin went over and picked up the animal. "He's trained to know if you are healthy or in critical condition and might die. If you are in bad condition he'll run around squeaking his head off. And if you are close to dying he'll lay down beside you."
"How does he know?" Sophie wondered.
Elwin shrugged while petting Bullhorn.
"You wanna pet him?" He held out the ferret toward Sophie.
Sophie shook her head.
"Can I?" Linh asked.
"Sure."
He handed Bullhorn to Linh and she pet him, whispering to the animal quietly.
"Are your burns okay?" Fitz's asked sitting down beside Sophie.
"Yeah," she told him.
"Good." He smiled at her, making her cheeks burn and her heart flutter.
She looked away, trying to hide her red cheeks.
Why does he have to be so gosh darn handsome.
Keefe coughed something that sounded like "Wonderboy" behind them.
Fitz glared at him.
"I smell a little jealousy," Marella joked.
Sophie looked at her questioningly.
"Oh whatever," she dismissed.
These people got to many inside jokes.
"Okay," Elwin said. "You can wipe of the cream and be on your way."
It's been two minutes.
"Huh?" Sophie looked down at her legs and already noticed that the burns were fading.
"How?"
"To be honest, I don't exactly know, but it works sooooo," Elwin went into his office and brought out a wet towel that smelled like flowers. "It gets rid of the sludge and the smell."
"I though you said that I couldn't smell it," Sophie pointed out.
"I did. I lied."
"I love him!" Keefe laughed.
Sophie wiped the yellow goop off of her face, then her arms and legs. She was surprised that the burns looked even more faded with the sludge gone.
Magic pulp. Okay.
Sophie stood and winced.
So it doesn't hurt unless I stand.
She took a step.
Or walk.
"Here, I'll just carry you out," Keefe offered.
"No," Sophie protested. "I'm al-!"
Keefe picked her up and draped her over his shoulder, laughing like he made the best joke ever.
"Put me down!" Sophie demanded through clenched teeth.
"Bye Elwin!" Keefe yelled as he quickly walked out the door.
Sophie watched her friends snicker as they walked a little bit slower behind Keefe.
"Shut up," she grumbled.
Biana stumbled and Dex caught her and steadied her. She smiled at him, which made him blush.
Sophie wiggled her eyebrows at Biana, who just rolled her eyes.
"Where would you like to go your Highness? Keefe asked in a bad British accent.
"Home," Sophie told him.
"Oh." He said. "I don't know where that is. Biana you can take her."
He shifted Sophie into his arms, bridal style, and turned around. And very suddenly, chucked Sophie into the air towards Biana.
It was like it went in slow-motion.
Biana lunged forward as Sophie spun in the air. Sophie closed her eyes waiting to crash into her friend.
But surprisingly the impact never came. When she opened her eyes she was in Bianas arms.
"How are so strong?" Sophie asked.
"If you've been doing this for as long as I have, you're gonna be pretty strong," Biana informed her. "And you're pretty light."
She placed Sophie down.
"Kay' let's go."

"We're here." The anonymous driver announced.
"Thanks," Sophie said as she climbed out of the van.
Her friends climbed out behind her.
"You guys don't have to stay," she told them.
"But we want to," Biana said.
"And I want to meet your dad," Keefe said. "He sounds awesome."
Sophie rolled her eyes, "whatever."
She walked up to her front door and knocked. It swung open a few moments later.
Edalines beautiful face peeked out the door.
"Hi honey," she waved Sophie inside. "Who are these people?"
Sophie smiled. "My friends."
"Oh!" She turned to them. "Come in, come in." Edaline smiled at Dex. "Hi Dex."
"Hi Auntie Edaline."
Edaline shut the door.
"Can you introduce me to your friends , Sophie?"
"Yeah sure."
Sophie stated the names of each of her friends.
Edaline shook hands with all of them
Fitz smiled at Sophie, which made her blush, obviously.
She turned her head away, but Edaline still saw her red cheeks. She gave Sophie a knowing smile, which just made Sophie blush more.
"Are you guys hungry? Would you like something to eat?" Edaline offered.
"Yes please! I'm starving!" Keefe told her.
Sophie slapped his arm.
"What?" He complained.
"He means," Linh said, "sure, thank you."
"Aren't you sweet," Edaline told her. "I'll go see what I can make you." She left Sophie and her friends in the living room.
"She's really nice," Linh smiled.
"Yeah," Marella agreed.
"She can be kind of embarrassing sometimes," Sophie told them.
"Everyones parents are a lot embarrassing," Dex said.
"I guess so."
A set of footsteps came from the stairs.
"Who are all of these people?" Grady said behind them.
Sophie turned around. "Hi dad. These are my friends."
"Really?"
"Yeah. You've already met Tam and Biana. And these are Fitz, Keefe, Marella, and Linh, and Dex is your nephew so I'm guessing you already know him."
"Hi."
He shook hand with everyone except for Tam, he just earned a glare.
"What did you do to make him angry Bangs Boy?" Keefe asked.
Tam shrugged.
Biana whispered something to Keefe, which made him laugh.
Sophie and Tam shared a puzzled look.
Grady left to join Edaline in the kitchen.
Wait.......
Grady came back out holding his bat behind his back.
So the secret closet of weapons is in the kitchen.
"Dad..."
"Sophie," he answered.
"Dad, no."
He slapped the bat on his right hand.
"Everybody out!" Sophie yelled and ran out the door, her friends following behind.
"What the heck Dad!" Sophie yelled from the sidewalk.
Grady laughed. "I'm kidding!" He put his hands up in surrender. "Come back inside."
They all went back inside. Tam, unfortunately, was last in line, which gave Grady a chance to bring him aside.
He whispered something to Tam, and he nodded in answer.
Tam went to stand in a dark corner.
"Lunch is ready!" Edaline called from the kitchen.
"Get ready to taste heaven on a plate," Sophie told her friends and walked into the kitchen.

It's January! I'm back! Happy New Year! May COVID be gone! Anyways...

So I'm going to do a new thing. Every chapter I'm going to put a picture of what I think a kotlc character would look like in real life, I want to know what you think of them.
