"it's lunch." noah says to me as i'm putting my things in my locker
"yep. you ready?"
"i dunno." he says
"you got this. she's gonna say yes anyway, so don't worry" i reassure him
he smiles at me. his sweet smile. i sigh. i wish he liked me like he liked may.
we walk into the cafeteria, and noah runs to the table to sit beside may. i go to get my lunch, and mya comes up beside me
"y/n."
"what's up?" i ask her
"do you like noah?" she asks me
"what?"
"it's kinda obvious. to me at least."
"it is?"
"oh, yeah. definitely." she says
i walk back to the table with mya, and she gives me THAT stare. noah and may are flirting. i'm kinda upset but he likes her, and all i want is for him to be happy.
noah looks at me and winks.
"hey may?" he says
"yeah?" may says, smiling.
"i got you this cupcake, i hope you like it" he says, i can tell he's nervous.
she opens the box, and her eyes become wide. she starts to blush, and she says
"noah...."
"yeah?" he asks with a shaky voice
"of course i will"
"wait really?!" he asks
"yes!" she says happily
he hugs her, and pulls her into a kiss. i show happiness on the outside, trying to be happy for them. but i'm really just crying inside.

it's been a four months now, since noah asked may out. they've been dating since. noah and me don't really hang out as much, so it's usually just me, mya, and dylan. i miss hanging out with noah. sometimes i come over to hang with chloe, because we're friends too, but everytime i try to say hi, may is always over, or he's at mays. the most we've talked in months and passing back a few words during math, and in the hallway. and the truth is, i still like noah. i really like noah. i'm lost in my thoughts again when i hear someone behind me saying
"hey y/n"
i turn around, and it's noah
"oh hey" i say
"we haven't really talked, in a while. or at all." he says
"yeah, since you and may started dating we haven't been hanging out either"
"yeah ik, and i'm sorry about that."
"why are you sorry?" i ask
"cause it's like i just left you for may. and that's not true, you're my best friend. also i miss hanging out with you." he says
"me too." i say smiling
"my house later?" he asks
"definitely" i say
he walks off, waving at me
i wake back and smile
he trades a smile back.
i walk into spanish, to tell mya everything.
"so he just went up to you and asked you to hang out? after 4 months of not talking basically at all?!" she asks me
"yes! i was a little confused why he would want to now, but i'm glad" i say
"good. i'm happy"
"me too" i say
