London, 13 Ladbroke Square.

I've been watching this damn house for about two hours and not a living soul.

Hahaha! What funny words for a living dead girl!

I'm sitting in the park, right in front of the house. Two guys came up to me with a cig between their lips.

I'm hungry all the time.

I could have dragged these dudes into a grove and devour a small snack. I still walked more than 5,500 miles, then squatted on a cargo ship to cross the ocean. I didn't want to get my butt wet.

Alas, the tobacco smell emanating from these two was repulsive.

I decided to select my diet.

I bleed to death only non-smokers. I know it's unprofessional. But when humans eat a steak, their meat doesn't stink like a cold ashtray.

When I find Romeo, we will have to set some rules together about food. For example, I don't eat rabbis, imams, or priests. However, a pedophile priest or a terrorist imam can be a tasty exception.

Well, well! A couple shows up.

I would recognize among thousands these faces that could frighten children on Christmas Eve.

Yanna and Dario! Always scary!

Well, not anymore!

So many memories come back to me when I slip behind their backs in a few steps.

Damn!

Dario turned around quickly, and I'm violently pushed against the door of 13 Ladbroke Square. I express my disapproval about this rough treatment, "It's not going well, monsters!"

The two gypsies stare at each other. "It's impossible," Dario mumbles, looking annoyed.

"We must warn the masters," Yanna decides as she takes out her cell phone.

Right! So announce to my Romeo, his Berenice is back on this good old Earth.

And for all eternity while I'm at it.

Dario's enormous hands crush my lungs. Although I'm a vampire and don't breathe, it's an unpleasant sensation. I ask politely or almost politely, "Get your filthy hands off me!"

This asshole doesn't move an inch. Yanna is taped to her cell phone and finally hangs up. "We have to bring her under heavy guard to the castle."

"Silver chains?" Dario requests with a sly glance.

"Only if she resists or causes trouble," Yanna replies.

I think I'm dreaming, or instead, I have nightmares.

"But what are you talking about?"

Dario cautiously let me go. "You heard it! If you don't stand still, you will taste the burning of silver. And it's excruciating," he threatens.

I leave London flanked by the two gypsies. It sounds like I'm an escaped convict.

Is this common for vampires? I'm new, and I don't know much about their customs.

Maybe it's some hazing, like when you go to college or the army?

I'm disappointed when we take the plane. I would have preferred to run at high speed through snowy Europe, up to the Carpathian peaks to reach Romeo's castle, my lovely Wallachian prince.

I'll finally see him again. I don't understand anything about all this whole mess around me, but I'm sure he'll be able to explain it.

Near, far, wherever you are.

I believe that the heart does go on.
