Shuuichi's POV
" I wish we were still in the Bahamas. It was so pretty there."
" There was something so relaxing about sipping cocktails on a beach with my boyfriend."
" I know, I'm not really that excited to go back to work."
" It was actually kinda fun to have sex with 1 guy for an entire month... We should do that more often..."
He stood on his tippy toes and kissed me on the cheek.
" We would if you quit your job."
" *Sigh* You know I can't do that."
" I know, just let me be selfish for a little bit."

"Kokichi?"
" Huh?"
Kokichi looked around for whoever just called his name then he saw who it was and looked shocked.
" M-mom...?"
" Kokichi! It is you!"
She quickly ran at us and I guess she was trying to hug him but before she could he quickly moved to the other side of me and slightly hid behind me.
" It's been so long since your dad and I have seen you! We've missed you so much!"
" Oh stop it. You and that drunken deadbeat never gave a shit about me, so why after 6 years do you now mysteriously care about me?"
" That's not true, when you ran away we were distraught. It wasn't until a week passed that we feared something terrible happened."
" Then why didn't you look for me?! If you cared for me so much like you said you did you would've looked for me!"
" I'm so so sorry sweetie, I wish we could've made your childhood better."
" I slept on the fucking street and sucked dick for money! I became a prostitute! Just like you!"
Kokichi was getting visibly upset, his voice was trembling as he shouted, and I could see tears forming in his eyes. I don't blame him for being angry.
" I had no idea you had to do that."
" Of course you didn't!"
" I left that life behind in hopes that you would one day come home."

She looked me up and down.
" Who's this handsome young man?"
" Like you care."

Kokichi sighed and rolled his eyes before speaking.
" He's my boyfriend, Shuuichi Saihara. The first and only person who ever bothered to love me."
When he told he that she slightly frowned and looked a little disappointed.
" Y-you're...Gay...?"
" I'm bisexual."
"...That means you like men...Right...?"
" I swing both ways, but yeah."
" Is that a problem? If you claim to love me like you say you do then you'll except the fact that I'm into guys."
" I-I...W-what will he say...?"
"Him? You mean that so called father of mine? Don't tell me you're taking me to see him or something."
" I'm sure he would love to see you."
" I highly doubt that, but whatever."
" Just follow me."
" Little warning. My dad is a terrible person. He's racist, sexist, extremely homophobic, abusive and a buncha other things, there's too many to list."
Kokichi just shrugged and we followed her to a house. When we entered not only did it scream crack den but it honestly smelled like someone died in there and someone probably did, as a detective I'm very familiar with the smell of death. I can't believe he lived here.
" Notice there is not one picture of me."
His dad stood up from a disgusting looking couch and looked us both up and down.
" Who the hell are you?"
" Who the hell am I? Your son. Remember me? I came from your ball sack."
" Oh... Right... Forgot I had a son."

" A-anyways... Kokichi, do you have a job?"
" Yeah."
" Well what do you do?"
" Strip."

He looked at both of us with pure disgust.

" *Sigh* Let's go Shuuichi."
He grabbed my hand and we started to walk away before his mom grabbed his arm.
" Wait wait!"
" What? Did you bring us here just so he can insult me?"
" No. It was to make amends."
" Amends?"
" Yes. Kokichi I'm so sorry for the way we treated you when you were growing up, it was wrong and I realize that. If I could turn back the clocks and give you the perfect childhood I would. I love you dearly son. And you being bisexual, I support you fully."

" Well I don't except your apology, I never will."
" W-what...?"
" So you finally got you shit together and realized all the abuse you put me through was fucked up and wrong? I would rather be an orphan then ever admit that I'm your son, I'll never forgive the fact that you would just stand there and watch him beat me half to death. And it only took you what? 21 years. I had nightmares for years, I never thought I would be able to trust anyone ever again."
" Kokichi I'm-"
" I'm not finished. Don't interrupt me."
" I considered suicide so many times. I mean what's the point of living if no one loves you? I used to think that... Until I met my prince charming, the love of my life. He changed my life. I never knew love until I met him. *You* are my reason to live baby. He treats me the way I deserve to be treated, he loves all my flaws and most importantly he's never hit me. I love you so so much."
" I love you too."
He stood on his tippy toes and kissed me. His dad looked at us in disgust.
" Now for you... I honestly don't even wanna talk to you, but I won't feel better until I say what I need to say. And you're gonna shut up and listen until I'm done."
He let go of my hand, walked up to his dad, clenched both of his fists and took a deep breath before speaking.
" Fuck you motherfucker. I severely hope that you burn in the deepest pit of hell. I had so many thoughts of killing you in your sleep, but then I thought killing you would be giving you the easy way out and I don't want that, I want you to suffer forever. I was afraid of you for years, but now that I'm finally confronting you I'm not, you're nothing but a worthless drunk coward who beat his own wife and child for years."
" The fuck you say to me faggot?"
" Kokichi maybe you shouldn't-"
I was starting to get a little worried about him, Kokichi was small and his dad towered over him, I was also getting a little worried that he was going to hit him I mean I would never let him get hurt I will protect with any means necessary.
" Shuuichi. I love you more then anything in this world, but the shut the fuck up, I NEED to do this."
" If you even think about putting your hands on I promise I will make your life a living hell. You don't know this but I have mafia connections and I will personally make sure that your death is slow and very painful. I'm not a little kid anymore so try me if you want to, I dare you."

" You've got nothing to say? You're just as much as a coward as I thought you were. C'mon Shuuichi we're going home."
He grabbed me hand and again and before we left he said something without turning around.
" I don't ever wanna hear or see from either of you as long as I live. You're both dead to me and from here on out I'm an orphan. I hate both of you and I pray that you both die in painful ways."
" Come back once you stop being a pansy!!"
Then we left and he immediately started laughing and crying.
" Hahahahahahahahahah!! I did it! I did it! *Sob* * Sob* I'm free! I feel like weight has been lifted! I've finally confronted my worst fears! I feel great! *Sob* *Sob* I have so much adrenaline now! I need to go do something!"
" I'm so grateful that I have you baby, I wouldn't have been able to do that on my own. I was so scared."
" You were so confident."
" That wasn't confidence. That was the adrenaline. Do you see why I ran away now?"
" Absolutely. To hear about is one thing... But they were awful."
" Yeah... They were. But why should I care? They're not my parents anymore."

I put my arm around him as we walked back to the car.
" You said you wanted to do something?"
" Yeah I do. But all this adrenaline went to my head and now I have a headache, can I go and take a little nap first?"
" Sure we can go home so you can a nap."
" We can do whatever you want."
