Sakura was packing her things for the trip tomorrow. She was excited and worried at the same time. She wanted to help Minjoo, but she's scared of knowing the truth.
"Nako-yah! Are you done packing your things?"
"Yes, Ms. Sakura."
"Will you drop those honorific thing? We're friends." Sakura smiled.
"Okay, Sakura-unnie."
Sakura heard her phone ringing and saw,
Incoming call: Father
Sakura thought twice before answering the phone. After few rings, she sighed and answered the phone.
"Hello, father."
"How are you, my dear daughter? I've reflected on myself and realized that I did not try to understand you. How about meeting me over dinner?"
"I have a commitment to attend tomorrow. I can meet you in the morning though." Sakura coldly reply.
"Morning is good for me too. I can't wait to see you. I miss you, my daughter."
"I have to go. I'll see you in the morning. Bye."
Sakura ended the call and told Nako about it.
"Please come with me tomorrow. Just in case I need someone to support me from my father."
"Of course, unnie."
Sakura continued packing her things and Nako texted someone about what happen.
"Mr. Miyawaki is planning to call Sakura home and is trying to reconcile with her. What should we do?"
A few minutes, someone replied
From: Hyewon-unnie
"I talked to Minjoo already. Yujin is still clueless. We must move fast."
Nako sighed. It is not that she don't trust Sakura, but she thinks she need to do something without letting the other girl know. Nako is a smart girl. She work for Sakura as her private investigator and Mr. Miyawaki knew her as Sakura's bestfriend. But she knew that Sakura's father know more than that, which is why she is not dragging Sakura in this situation.
One day, as she was visiting Sakura, she saw Hyewon came out of Mr. Miyawaki's office. Due to her suspicions, she quickly researched about the girl and saw that she was the "adopted" daughter of Mr. Miyawaki. She tried asking Sakura about it but it seemed that the other girl does not have any idea about it.
Nako then visited Hyewon's home to confront her which was easy because the older girl comfortably shared everything to her. It happens that Ms. Hyewon knew that she is Sakura's private secretary/investigator.
"I know you're curious about me. But it is not me that you should focus on." Hyewon stated while drinking her tea.
"Then who should I focus on? I don't trust you. Even Sakura does not know a thing about your existence."
"Yah! You little girl. Did you think I wanted to be a non-existent member to this family? Father wants me to be her hidden daughter and do everything he says."
"But, why?" Nako asked.
"Maybe collecting smart people is a part of his hobbies." Hyewon answered
Nako looked so confused so Hyewon just shifted the topic.
"Anyway, I am not happy being under Mr. Miyawaki. He's so controlling. That is why I am taking him down. I know someday, you'll come back and ask for my help." Hyewon smirked.
This meeting happened before the issue with Minjoo, Sakura, and Yujin. What Hyewon said to Nako came true because Nako went to her when she wanted to help Sakura about the failed experiment issue.
This time, Hyewon did not told Nako everything, but promised that they will secretly work together. Nako knew about the consequences if Mr. Miyawaki knew that Hyewon is helping Sakura that is why she is very careful with her action.
Nako kept her phone while sending her reply with Hyewon
"I see. Let's hope for the best. I'll update you tomorrow."
Morning came and both girls are in front of the Miyawaki residence. They entered the house and Sakura told Nako to stay on the living room while she'll be meeting her father in his workroom.
Sakura went inside the room and saw his father reading the daily newspaper.
"Hello, father."
"Oh! My daughter! Where's your bestfriend, Nako?"
When Sakura is about to answer,
"Or should I call her you private secretary?" Mr. Miyawaki smiled.
Sakura felt uneasy. How can his father knew it? She tried to keep a straight face and answered
"She's in the living room."
"I see. You know, I won't hold you for a long time because travelling to Busan can be exhausting. You might get stuck in a traffic if you won't leave early." Mr. Miyawaki drank his coffee.
This time, Sakura is getting scared. How can she underestimate his father? She must be prepared that he knew everything.
"How.." Sakura murmured.
"I'm worried about you, my daughter. That is why I am making sure I know every little thing that you are doing. I don't care about the others, but I know you do care for them. Especially that Minjoo."
Sakura was speechless. How can this all happen?
"I have a proposition to you." Mr. Miyawaki looked at Sakura who is looking at him back with her cold eyes.
"Marry Minjoo. I know you love her and I want you to be happy."
"What?"
"I'll prepare everything for you. BUT
.
.
You should drop this investigation and both you and Minjoo should study and live in US and you must never come back here in Korea until the time that I'm dead."
"What if I don't want to?" Sakura asked.
She don't want to force Minjoo anymore. This offer might be tempting enough for Sakura, but she will not choose something that can make Minjoo unhappy with her.
"Wow. I never expected that you will think twice with this deal. I know how desperate you are to be with her." Mr. Miyawaki laughed.
"Answer my question." Sakura replied.
"Well, if you will not make Minjoo as your fiance, I can force her with that. But, if you're still going to do that investigation, I swear to God that your friends will suffer."
Sakura remained speechless.
"I'm giving you the permission to pursue Minjoo, but you should stop the investigation. It will be a win-win situation." Mr. Miyawaki smiled.
"Why are you doing this?" Sakura asked.
"I am just concern with you. Knowing the truth might be painful for you." Mr. Miyawaki answered.
"I'm leaving."
Sakura grabbed her bag and as she was heading towards the door, she heard her father shout,
"I'm giving you 3 days to decide. Enjoy, Busan!
"
Sakura just cried while running towards the car. Nako was surprised to see her unnie crying so she decided to drive the car to Eunbi's place.
Sakura decided to drop the bomb in Eunbi's house when she said
"I think my dad is planning something. He wants me to be engaged with Minjoo."
"WHAT?" Eunbi shouted.
"And who is he to dictate things like that?!" Matthew asked.
"He told me that he will hurt everyone if I won't agree to his plans. He knew that we are investigating something about the experiment that is why he is giving me this deal. He also knew about Nako and this Busan trip. He just--" Sakura criedly explained.
Eunbi touched her forehead. She can't handle the situation and it's giving her some headaches. But she decided to hug the other girl.
"Let's solve this together okay?"
When Sakura became calm, Eunbi's face clearly show how mad she is.
"This is killing me. We need to postpone the trip and let's just talk about our plan B. Anyway, thank you, Sakura. I didn't expect you'll disagree to his plans knowing that Minjoo is your girlfriend and you love her so much." Eunbi stated.
"About that.." Sakura shyly replied.
Sakura loves Minjoo so much. She will do anything for her. But if that thing is letting Minjoo go, then Sakura will do it for her.
Sakura explained the thing with Matthew and Yujin getting tied up with her plan. Matthew also told the group about Yujin's letting go of Minjoo which surprised Sakura.
"What a tragic love affair." Hitomi sighed.
"But Yujin and Wonyoung are together right?" Eunbi asked.
"Ehh? I never heard about it." Matthew confusingly replied.
"I am not sure about that, Eunbi-unnie. But let's just fix the urgent issue first." Sakura said.
"Okay. But before anything else, I would like to say that I'm so proud of you, Sakura. Thank you for doing this for Minjoo." Eunbi said to Sakura while patting her head.
"No worries. I love her. I always will. Rest assure that I will do everything just to make Minjoo happy." Sakura replied.
It was a sad and warm morning afterall. The group decided to stay for a while and agreed to go to Busan tomorrow. They need some time to think about Sakura's deal with her father. Eunbi texted Minjoo that the trip was cancelled.
On the other hand, Hyewon just received the news about the engagement thing with Minjoo and Sakura. She quickly grab her car and drove away from the venue.
It was already afternoon. The last class for the camp ended early. Yujin decided to go to the convenient store near the dormitory to buy some snacks for their movie night. She can't wait but to be excited to a watch movie with Minjoo, but she's a little sad because she knew that everything will be back to normal once they go back in Seoul.
After buying some snacks, she passed by a chocolate shop. It must be a popular place in Busan since a lot of people are falling in line outside.
"I should give her a chocolate for helping me out." Yujin thought.
"What are the bestseller here?" Yujin asked.
"This chocolate is considered the best. It has a bittersweet taste since--"
"I'll take it." Yujin smiled.
Yujin was proud with what she bought. As she was on the way to her room, she saw Wonyoung sitting on the bench.
"Hi!" Yujin greeted.
"Oh. Hi, Yujin." Wonyoung greeted back.
"Happy that the study camp is already over." Yujin stated.
"Yeah."
Yujin observed that Wonyoung has been down lately.
"Is something bothering you?" Yujin asked.
"Nothing." Wonyoung weakly smiled.
"Come on. We've been bestfriends for almost a decade. You can't lie to me."
Wonyoung sighed. It's been an exhausting week for her. She's not sure if it's okay to share it to the other girl.
"It's Ryujin."
"What about her?" Yujin asked.
"We kissed before."
"WHAT?" Yujin confusingly stated.
"She knew that we're not a couple. She's planning to sell us off so she told me to kiss her. Then, she keeps on bothering us and she even told your mom a different story. She's frustrating me."
Wonyoung started crying. Yujin can't imagine how hard it is for Wonyoung to carry this burden. She only hugged the other girl
"I'm sorry, Yujin. For not telling you sooner."
"No. No. Don't apologize."
"I will kill her." Yujin thought.
Yujin decided to cheer Wonyoung up. She offered her hand to the other girl which surprised the girl.
"Stop crying and have a date with your awesome girlfriend/bestfriend." Yujin winked.
Wonyoung was surprised with what Yujin said. She smiled and hold Yujin's hand.
"Let's go!"
They went to Gamcheon Village and took some nice photos.
"Take a picture of me here!" Yujin said.
"Okay!" Wonyoung smilingly replied
Wonyoung can't help but to fall deeper with Yujin. Her dimples are making her face more charming. The golden hour really made Yujin's photo even prettier. She noticed that she's been staring at Yujin in her camera instead of taking a photo of her.
"JANG WONYOUNG! Why are you not counting?" Yujin shouted
"Sorry!" Wonyoung replied and clicked the camera.
"Let's take a photo here! We don't have a photo together yet."
Yujin grabbed her phone and pulled Wonyoung close to her.
The other girl was surprised with the sudden move by Yujin.
"Smile!!!" Yujin clicked the camera.
"Wonyoungie! I'm hungry!!" Yujin pouted.
"Aigoo you're such a baby! Let's grab something to eat!" Wonyoung laughingly stated.
They went to a marketplace to eat some streetfoods. They tease each other. They laugh at their jokes. In short, they really had a great time. To be honest, this was their life before Minjoo came into their life. Wonyoung started to miss this life- a life when getting around with Yujin is easy and not facing any problem.
"I think it's getting late. We should go back now." Yujin said.
Wonyoung pouted because she does not want this day to end.
"Yah! We can do this again in Seoul. So don't pout at me like that." Yujin patted the other girl's head.
Wonyoung smiled and nodded. She quickly hold Yujin hand which the other girl held back. She knew Yujin got her back.
As they were on the way home, she saw the snacks that Yujin was holding.
"You should have left that in the dormitory before we went out."
"I know. I forgot about it."
"How were you and Minjoo?" Wonyoung asked. She have no idea why she asked this question when she knew that this will hurt her.
"We're okay. I guess."
Wonyoung noticed the pain in Yujin's eyes. She knew life is hard for her bestfriend too.
"That's good. I hope she's happy with Sakura-unnie."
"They-- are not dating." Yujin confessed.
"What do you mean?"
"Sakura wants her back, but Minjoo does not want it anymore. They are just friends." Yujin looked at Wonyoung.
It confused Wonyoung but she tried to understand Yujin's situation.
"Sooo, we can finally end this deal right? I mean, you can confess to her that you like her, and everything about us is a lie."
"As much as I would like to do that, the world is telling me no."
"Wow. How come you're not telling me this? What do you mean about that?" Wonyoung asked.
"Remember when she told us that she forgot her memories because of an accident?"
"Uh-uh."
"She's a victim of my mom's experiment. My mom made Minjoo lose her memories, and now that she is slowly remembering everything, we must avoid each other or else--"
"your mom might get mad." Wonyoung continued.
"Exactly."
Wonyoung sighed.
"Can your life be less complicated? First, you don't remember some of your childhood memories. Now, this?" Wonyoung said.
"I know. Well, I still think Minjoo had it worse." Yujin replied.
The girls arrived to their dormitory and went to their seperate rooms.
Yujin saw Minjoo packing her bags for their trip tomorrow.
"Oh! Welcome back, Yujin." Minjoo smiled.
"Looks like you're ready to go back to Seoul." Yujin answered.
"Ahhh! I think I might extend my stay here. I am visiting my parents tomorrow."
"Ohh. I see. Have fun! Oh, by the way, this is a chocolate I bought from the shop near the convenient store."
Yujin gave a paperbag to the other girl.
"What's the occassion?" Minjoo asked.
"Nothing. I just remembered that you helped me achieve my goal to attend this camp so this is my way of giving back." Yujin smiled.
"Okay, I'll eat it later. Are we still going to watch a movie?" Minjoo asked.
"Of course!!! That's why I bought some snacks too. I'll just take a shower and we're good to go."
They prepared the snacks and started to watch the film. Minjoo also opened the chocolates and ate it with Yujin.
"Ugh. It's too bitter." Yujin said.
"Maybe it's a dark one." Minjoo replied.
After a few minutes, Minjoo felt dizzy.
"Yujinie, I am not feeling well. I feel dizzy."
Yujin panicked as she saw how uneasy Minjoo is.
"What am I going to do? Are you sick? Should I call Eunbi-unnie?" Yujin worriedly asked.
"No, Yujin. Does this chocolate contain alcohol?" Minjoo asked.
"What? That's nonsense."
Yujin grabbed the box and saw that the chocolate has an alcohol on it.
"Oh my God. Are you allergic to alcohol?" Yujin asked.
Minjoo was not able to answer back since she collapsed on the bed.
"KIM MINJOOO!"
Yujin grabbed her phone and quickly called Eunbi. The older girl is not answering so she quickly texted the girl.
"Unnie! Minjoo ate a chocolate with an alcohol on it. Is she allergic or what? She collapsed and I don't know what to do."
She sent the text and tried to wake up the girl. After a few minutes, Minjoo opened her eyes, sat on the bed, and stared coldly at Yujin.
"Minjoo-yah!!! You scared me to death." Yujin hugged Minjoo.
Yujin wondered why the latter was not responding.
"Yah! Minjoo. Talk to me."
Minjoo still stared at Yujin coldly and slowly smirked.
Yujin's phone finally rang and as she was about to answer the call, Minjoo suddenly pulled her and kissed her on the lips.
Yujin had no choice but to close her eyes. She have no idea what to do. Wonyoung was her first kiss, or is it really Wonyoung?
A sudden memory rose to Yujin's mind, the same memory that she saw when Wonyoung kissed her, but this time, everything is clearer.
"Jinjin, I like you. A lot."
"Wah! I like you too, Minmin!!"
"Since the feeling is mutual, can I kiss you? My mom told me that if you like someone, you should kiss him or her."
"Hmmm. Okay."
Yujin regained her state of mind and saw Minjoo sleeping on the bed.
"Minmin?"
"KIM MINJOO IS MINMIN?!"
