i woke up breathing heavy. i checked my clock and noticed how late in the afternoon it was.

another bad dream in a row. same shit different day. as i heaved myself up off my bed , i noticed that i had broke out into a cold sweat while i was sleeping. i shook my head & made my way to the kitchen. it was a hot july day. & everybody was outside.
i took some apple juice from out the fridge & poured it in the glass.

i looked back & noticed my phone on the counter vibrating. i checked the caller id & picked up.

' whatsup amirah. '
' heyy girll , wya ? i'm outside ya crib.'
i took a sip of my juice.
' aight , i'm coming down right now. '
i set my glass in the sink & made my way downstairs.
amirah is my bestttt friend. eva since 5th grade, we've pretty much been inseparable. she's basically my ride or die.
as i made my way down the steps , i cracked open the door & she busted in giving me a giant hug.
' hiiiiii my loveeee ! '
i laughed & hugged her back. ' girl you choking me to death! '
she stood back & giggled. ' oops, but yo i gotta tell you sum ! '
before i could formulate any words, she darted past me & went upstairs to my apartment. i chuckled & slowly made my way upstairs.
' so whatchu needed to tell me ? '
she was heating up some nuggets i had inna microwave.
' bitchhhh, guess who invited me to their house partyyy. '
i rolled my eyes. already knowing.

she elongated his name & did a lil shimmy. i huffed & puffed. she gave me a look and came to sit next to me. ' listen, girl we talked about it & i really do think he is genuine this time. ' i cocked my head towards her. ' amriah that's whatchu said the last time. '

she got distracted by the microwave & made her way over inna kitchen. i got up & went on instagram. ' yea fine whatever, but can you at least come with me ? pleasee ion wanna be by myself. ' i looked her way as she gave me her signature puppy eyed look.
i snorted. as i scrolled thru my timeline, i could feel her breathing behind my neck. i turned around & she made her lil puppy eyes again. i rolled my eyes.
' fine '
' yayyy , ' she squealed. i got up off the couch and made my way to my room.
' but i'm leavin early, & you coming wit me. trey can stay his ass elsewhere. '
i heard her giggle inna background. i opened my brown oak closet door & rummaged around. i didn't know exactly what i wanted to wear, but i wanted to be comfortable so i went for an ' aaliyah ' inspired look.
i did my hygiene & threw on my outfit.
i had on a white bandanna on my head to fasten my curls outta my face, sum black sweat pants, & a tiny black crop-top that cupped my breast & made them sit up perfectly. & a loose white over-top sweater. as i threw on a pair of j's i heard amirah's footsteps inching toward my room door. she looked at me & smiled.
' girllll youuu look soo fioneeee. ' she took my hand & twirled me around. i pulled back & made a stank face, ' girl you needa look at chu, lookin all scrumptious & shit. '
' thank you bestt ' she said as she fixed her luscious afro inna mirror.
' what time you plannin on leavin ? '
i checked the time on my phone. it was 9:27pm.
' 11 ' i blankly said.
she turned around wit a flabbergasted look on her face. i busted out laughing, while holding my stomach.
' girl what happeneddd ? '
' are you crazy , why so early ? ' she asked as she turned back around & applied her fenty lipgloss to enhance her plump lips.
' i told you i wanted to leave early tho. '
' but that's most likely the time were gonna get there. '
i rolled my eyes & rubbed my vanilla body oil on my neck & wrists.
' fine, but i don't want chu gettin too drunk amirah. ' i looked at her. she threw her head back & laughed, ' what makes you think imma get dumb drunk ? i gotta be onna look out tonight. '
