Y/N

_

I stared blankly at the two men in front of me, but I was horrified on the inside.

Steve and Bucky had their heads in their hands, smiling at me with a devilish grin. That was normal for Buck, but Steve? I had never seen him grin before.

We were sitting in some random office of Stark Tower, and I felt completely misplaced. After the whole events happened in Germany, it took a while for Tony to understand the truth about his parent's death, but he somehow forgave me. I never meant to hurt anyone, and thinking about it tears me apart.

"So," Bucky nodded, "you're a minor."

I wrinkled my nose, turning to look outside at the manhattan skyline. I didn't understand why I was called to this meeting, and I desperately wanted to get out of it.

"Because of that," he continued, "we legally have to put you in school."

Hell no. absolutely not. I had not gone to school in 72 years, and I have no plan on going back.

"Are you serious?" I scoffed, rolling my eyes, "at fifteen I served in the army. I'm not going to school."

"But you're sixteen."

"I'm eighty six."

"we both know what age you really are."

"Eighty six."

"Okay, listen," Steve cut in, clasping his hands together and setting them on the table, "Stark told us there's a kid your age that can help with the adjustment period."

"What adjustment?"

"Getting your life back," Bucky sighed, "and at least trying to have a normal one again."

I didn't like it when he used that word: normal. Just because I never had the same chances as any other kid in this generation, doesn't make me an outcast. For all I knew, my behavior was normal for my standards.

"I don't need school," I frowned, "and I don't need some kid to babysit me."

"I'm afraid you don't have a choice," Steve shrugged.

"You guys aren't my parents."

There was a moment of silence in the office, where the two men just sat and stared at me with a glint in their eyes. Amidst all the side glances they were giving each other, I cleared my throat and adjusted the placement of my metal arm.

"What?" I spat out, "stop grinning, you two look like little kids."

"Actually...." Steve grinned, reaching behind him for his backpack, "we are."

"We are what?"

"Your parents."

I almost let out a laugh, before Steve pulled out a piece of paper and slid it across the desk. I hesitated to read the words, but I couldn't help but scan over the document. A certificate of adoption, stating that with the absence of my parents, they would now take care of me.

"Is this a joke?" I scoffed weakly, "you guys aren't serious, right?

"About as serious as we can get."

"I've known you guys since you were kids! Now you're my dads?"

"Yep," Bucky laughed, "just don't call us daddy."

I rolled my eyes, shoving the paper back towards them and standing up from my chair. I knew they were doing this because they were genuinely worried about my safety, but I also knew they wanted to pick on me more than usual. Grr.

"Hey!" Steve called out, "you can't leave yet!"

I let out a puff of air, "yes I can."

"As your father, I will not allow it."

"Steve!"

"That's Father Steve for you."

"Okay, cut it out you two," Bucky laughed, "we just need you to meet someone."

I trudged back to my seat, plopping down in defiance. Don't get me wrong, I wasn't giving into their whole dad spiel, I was just being... respectful. Or maybe I was interested in knowing who this someone was.

"Who is it?" I frowned, "who are you pairing me up with?"

As if it was planned beforehand, at that exact second, the door swung open and two people came strutting in. I obviously recognized the taller man as Tony, but the boy next to him I didn't know. He looked like he could be Stark's son. Maybe nephew.

When we locked eyes, the boy's eyes widened, and he immediately turned away. Great, I already scared him. I didn't think I was that scary...

"Tony," Steve said, slicking his tongue against the roof of his mouth, "meet our daughter.

"You told her?" the man smiled, pressing his tinted glass up the bridge of his nose.

"Yeah," I frowned, "they did."

"Perfect, I've got someone I want you to meet."

He took a step to his right to show off the boy next to him. This time I focused more on his features. Curly brown hair, hazel eyes, and a tiny little crook on his nose. He was wearing a cheesy science shirt with a green jacket, but I could see the outline of his arms through the fabric. He was surprisingly.....strong.

"Peter," Stark said to the boy, before pointing at me, "meet the Winter Soldier."

I adjusted my metal arm, the fading red star visible from where he stood. I hated that star, because every time someone saw it, they saw Hydra. And the terrified glint in Peter's eyes meant he saw it too.

"[y/n]," Tony continued, "meet Spider-man."
