Micah Bell X Female Reader

Summary: You and Micah started a gang just like you said you would. Now it's 1907 and all things must come to an end.

Word Count: 3000

Once you and Micah thought that the heat would have cooled down and the law wouldn't be searching too heavily for you, the two of you got out of Colter and set your plan into action. You both reunited with Micah's friends, Joe and Cleet. You weren't a fan of either of them but decided that it didn't matter, they were working for the two of you now. The two of you, followed by Joe and Cleet, put a gang together just like you said you would. You now had plenty of men taking orders from you both and were doing fairly well for yourselves.

Now, it had been about sevens years since betraying and disbanding the Van der Linde gang. At first you doubted that you and Micah would last long as co-leaders but you seemed to be working rather well together.

Even though you had expressed your distaste for Colter plenty of times, the gang ended up in a similar place at the moment. You were in the little cabin on Mount Hagen, thinking over your options and your next plan of action.

Hearing the door open and close behind you, you knew that only one person would be entering without knocking or seeking permission.

"Micah, good news, I think I've found a promising-" you began to discuss a new option as you turned to face him, instantly pausing at the sight you were greeted with. "Where did you find him?" you asked Micah, looking the man beside him up and down.

"It's a funny story really" Micah shrugged, already smirking slightly at your reaction.

"I'm sure it's hilarious" you huffed, crossing your arms over your chest. "Why is he here?" you repeated your question.

"It's nice to see you too, Miss L/n" was all Dutch said, still not giving you the answer you were looking for.

"No it ain't but go on" you chuckled drily. "So, what are you doing here?" you directed the question at him this time.

"Mr Bell offered a proposition, it was difficult to turn down" Dutch explained simply.

"So, what I'm hearing is that, you're desperate" you mocked him but this time he didn't speak, his jaw clenching, that clearly hit a nerve.

"He'll be joining us" Micah told you, making your attention snap back to him.

"Goddamn, I thought we were past this. There's noway he's joining us" you shook your head.

"It'll be different this time. He'll be working for us, not the other way round" Micah pointed out as he walked up to you.

"...that does sound interesting" you hummed, eyeing the dark haired man for a moment.

"Think of the bigger picture" Micah advised.

"The bigger picture is that this is going to make things messy" you huffed, rolling your eyes. Micah always talked about the 'bigger picture' or the future but you knew he didn't have a clue what that 'bigger picture' looked like.

"Just give it a chance, see how it goes" Micah asked of you, placing a hand on your shoulder.

"Fine but only from the kindness of my heart" you agreed with a sarcastic tone, making Micah smirk and Dutch roll his eyes. "But we need to get somethings straight" you spoke again before Dutch could relax.

"And what's that?" Dutch asked, squinting at you.

"We're in charge and you are the same as any other man out there. No special treatment, understood?" you asked and he nodded. "Oh and if you step out of line, I will shoot you. You're replaceable now, Dutch, don't you forget it" you threatened, making the man tense ever so slightly.

You shot Micah a glare for bringing this man here without running it by you first, before leaving the cabin to see how the rest of the gang was doing with setting up the rest of the camp.

"She's something else, isn't she?" Micah asked with a slight smirk, watching the door close behind you.

"...she hasn't changed" Dutch muttered. While Micah seemed to be proud or fond of your attitude, Dutch had a clear distaste for it.

"I'd watch my tongue if I were you, Dutch. She don't like you much, hated having to take orders from you. She's your boss now" Micah warned, his face becoming serious.

Dutch just nodded. There was a time he would have spoken, would have argued, but you were right...he was desperate.

"...how do you know that she isn't going to betray you? She sure does like watching out for herself" Dutch asked curiously.

"She likes looking out for her own survival, as do I. You see, Dutch, we have an understanding. Life is about surviving, you have to do whatever it takes. If push comes to shove and she doesn't even consider getting herself out of there, I'd be disappointed in her" Micah confessed with a small shrug, you both knew how to play the game and your relationship shouldn't get in the way of that.

"...right" Dutch hummed, sounding unconvinced.

"Is there something you want to say?" Micah asked, raising an eyebrow at him.

"No...of course not" Dutch shook his head. Smartly deciding not to mention what a problematic partnership you both seemed to have.

"Fuck, I hate the mountains" you complained as you stepped into the little cabin that you shared with Micah.

"We'll be out of here soon" Micah assured you as you closed the door securely.

"Have you looked over the plan?" you asked as you removed your coat and hung it up beside the door.

"I did...it looks good. I knew I made the right choice offering you a place in this gang" Micah glanced over his shoulder at you.

"Ah, you wouldn't have managed without me" you teased as you walked over to the table that Micah was stood at, the table where the map was laid out.

"You do take some of the weight off my shoulders" Micah chuckled, throwing his arm over your shoulders and pulling you into his side.

"Are you admitting that you couldn't cope without me?" you asked, smirking up at him.

"I never said that" Micah scoffed. "You make things easier but I don't need you" he clarified, not wanting to inflate your ego...or confess that you are genuinely a great help.

"Sure you don't" you rolled your eyes. "But in that case...you just like having me around" you nudged his ribs with your elbow.

"...you're not bad to look at" Micah shrugged.

"Oh you flatter me" you muttered, sarcasm thick in your tone.

"I do have a way with words" Micah claimed but you just laughed.

"That's the funniest thing you've ever said" you continued to laugh, knowing that it would bother him.

"Do you ever shut up?" Micah asked as he pulled you around to stand in front of him, holding onto your hips and pressing you back against the table. He always acted as if you irritated him, even after all these years, but he honestly was fond of your quips.

"No...but you don't either. No matter how much I beg you" you reminded him, placing your hands on his shoulders.

"Oh and I do love when you beg" Micah told you, making you smirk to yourself.

Before you could say anything else, Micah had pulled you into a rough kiss that you instantly returned. You wrapped your arms around his neck as he lifted you up and sat you down on top of the table, moving to stand between your legs and pulling you even closer to him.

Your biting kisses were interrupted by the cabin door opening. You looked over Micah's shoulder as he turned his head to see who had disturbed you both.

"I'll, uh...leave you to it. Sorry" Dutch apologised awkwardly, nodding at you both before leaving and closing the door again.

"Remind me why we're keeping him around?" you asked with a frustrated sigh.

"You talk about him like he's a lost dog that wandered into camp" Micah gave you an amused smirk.

"Isn't he, though?" you asked playfully, tilting your head to the side, and earning an honest laugh from Micah. "You're just getting a power trip from having him answer to you" you sighed.

"...maybe" Micah shrugged, smirking slightly.

"It's foolish" you warned him seriously.

"Perhaps" Micah hummed quietly as he lent in, trailing kissing along your jaw.

"You're losing it, old man" you told him as you ran your fingers through his greying hair, something that you enjoyed teasing him about.

"You wish" Micah growled slightly before returning his mouth to your own, capturing you in a harsh kiss. You tugged on his hair, pulling each other closer, as he nipped at your bottom lip.

As you seemed to be often these days, you were in the little cabin on Mount Hagen, speaking with Micah and Dutch.

"I'm telling you, we should take the cash we have and move. Just set up camp somewhere else, see what scores we can find then" you told them, something you had suggested to Micah so many times.

"You just don't like it up here" Micah chuckled.

"And you do?" you asked and he shook his head at you. "We said that we were going to get far away and then we end up on Mount Hagen, that ain't far Micah" you reminded him.

"We only came back for some cash" Micah told you.

"And I agreed to come. Now we have the cash and we should leave" you argued, not understanding why Micah was so happy to take his time about this.

"I hate to interrupt your bickering but do you hear gunshots?" Dutch spoke up, making you and Micah shoot him a glare before falling silent and listening. He was right. Another gunshot rang out.

"I fucking told you so" you spat, looking back to Micah.

"And you're so fucking smart" Micah scoffed.

"Smarter than you" you insisted.

"Micah! If you're here, come out!" a voice that you recognised even after all these years called out. John Marston.

"I should go show my face" Micah muttered, checking that his guns were in his holsters.

"Oh sure, go get yourself shot" you rolled your eyes as his genius idea.

"It's cute when you worry about me" Micah smirked as he stepped up to you.

"I ain't worried about ya" you denied.

"Sure you ain't" Micah winked playfully, making you huff. "Don't worry, I'll be just fine" he assured you, giving you a forceful kiss before pulling away and heading for the door. "Hello, Scarface" you heard Micah greet the familiar man before the door closed behind him.

"What are you thinking?" Dutch asked, wondering how you planned on getting out of this one.

"I think that's my cue to get out of here" you said dismissively as you walked over to the chest, where you and Micah were keeping the money.

"Don't you think you should stick around and see what happens?" Dutch asked as he watched you fill a bag with cash, taking all you could.

"I ain't taking that risk. If Micah gets out of this alive, tell him it ain't personal" you didn't even bother looking back at him. You just finished filling the bag, taking every last penny, and closed the chest.

"You think he won't kill you if he finds out?" Dutch asked, a clear warning in his words.

"Maybe but he knows the deal. Got to look out for number one, always put yourself first" you shrugged, turning back to him.

"You two were made for each other" Dutch mumbled bitterly.

"Thanks" you shot him a wink before opening the window on the back of the cabin.

Outside of the cabin Micah and John had started shooting each other, only stopping once Sadie showed up. She had a gun pointed at his back as he walked out from where he was taking cover, coming face to face with John once again.

"Just like old times, hm?" Micah holstered his gun. "All manner of folk paying social calls" he told them just before the cabin door opened and Dutch stepped out.

"Hello, son. Mrs Adler. Been quite a while" Dutch greeted the two familiar faces.

Using their surprise as an opportunity, Micah spun around and struggled with Sadie, switching their positions so that he had a gun to her head.

"Where's Y/n?" Micah asked Dutch, surprised that you hadn't come out here, guns blazing.

"She's gone" Dutch stated.

"What do you mean 'she's gone'?" Micah squinted at him.

"She told me she was getting outta here, went through the window...took the cash with her. She told me to tell you that it ain't personal" Dutch explained, making Micah chuckle to himself and shake his head.

"You shouldn't be surprised, Micah. You've both always been snakes" John reminded him.

"Not surprised at all...should've locked the damn cash away though" Micah laughed to himself again. "Even if you kill me, Scarface, you're going to have to go looking for her. It just never stops, does it?" he asked, mocking the man.

"We'll find her" John assured him with a shrug.

"If you do, tell her I said 'hey'" Micah smirked. "Now, what were you saying?" he asked.

John continued his efforts, trying to get Micah to let go of Sadie and to get Dutch to see the light but it was all starting to look hopeless to him. That was until Dutch shot Micah, the gun shot ringing through the air. Micah stumbled back and supported himself on the wooden crates behind him.

"Thank you...I..." John tried to speak but Dutch only glared at him before walking away and out of sight.

Already knowing that there was no cash left, John helped Sadie to her feet and they both started their journey back down the mountain, leaving Micah to suffer a slow death. There was no way he was coming back from this, he got what he deserved.

Micah slid down against the crate and sat in the snow, able to accept when his time was up. But when he looked you, he saw you walking towards him.

"Must be seein' things..." Micah murmured as he raised his gun and aimed it at you.

"I'm real. Go on shoot, see for yourself" you told him, holding your hands out to your sides.

"...thought you left" Micah lowered the gun, allowing you to approach again.

"I was going to...decided to just wait and see what happened" you shrugged as if it was nothing.

"Why not just leave now? I ain't recovering from this one" Micah asked, both of you knowing that he wasn't going to survive.

"Maybe I'm getting sentimental" you muttered as you sat down beside him. "I told you Dutch would just mess things up, should've killed him when you saw him" you sighed.

"Really? I'm dying here and you're giving me the whole 'I told you so' speech? Are you sure we ain't married? It's hard to tell sometimes with all the nagging" Micah joked, making you laugh. "At least it was exciting. He surprised me, I won't lie" he shrugged.

"So you ain't mad at me for leaving?" you asked.

"'course not. Expected nothing less from you. Would've been disappointed if you waited around to die with me" Micah assured you.

"You would've done the same" you smiled slightly.

"'course I would've" Micah nodded, deciding not the consider whether he actually would. It didn't matter now.

"Good" you nodded and a silence fell over you both. "Well...I guess this is the end" you whispered, breaking the short silence.

"It is. My time's run out" Micah sighed.

"You know, Micah, as strange as it sounds...I might actually miss you" you confessed, making him look at you for a moment. He was dying...he didn't really have to keep secrets anymore, did he?

"I can do you one better...I might've actually loved you. As much as somebody like me can" Micah admitted, turning his attention back to the snow in front of you both.

Your attention snapped to him, definitely not expecting him to confess that. "...I might've actually loved you too" you told him, making him look at you again.

There was an awkward feeling in the air. The two of you had been together for seven years now but never even addressed your relationship, definitely never confessed your love for each other.

Figuring that there was nothing to lose at this point, you reached over and cupped his cheek in your hand. Leaning in, the two of you had the softest kiss either of you had ever shared in the whole seven years of being together. In fact it was the softest kiss that either of you had ever shared with anyone, it lingering for a little longer than either of you planned.

"You shouldn't have come back" Micah chastised as you pulled away from the kiss.

"But I did" you shrugged, returning to your previous position.

"What's you're plan?" he asked.

"Wait a while, until John is gone...see if any men are remaining, round them up, and get outta here" you told him.

"Good plan" Micah nodded approvingly.

"Thanks" you chuckled only to frown slightly when you felt his head drop to your shoulder. "Micah?" you asked.

"Hmm?" was the only noise you made but at least it wasn't silence.

"You still with me?" you asked.

"...yeah" Micah mumbled. "Y/n?" he asked after a short pause.

"Yeah?" you asked.

"...here" Micah grunted as he weakly upholstered his guns and placed them in your lap.

"God, you must really love me" you joked, covering up your utter surprise.

"Just take them" Micah insisted as you felt him grow heavier against you.

"...I'll see you around, Micah" you sighed as you rested your head on top of his.

"...see you around" Micah murmured before letting his eyes fall shut.

You sat in silence like that for a while, ignoring the cold of the snow and wind. It didn't bother you at the moment.

"Micah?" you asked after a little while but only sighed when you got no response.

You carefully pushed him off of you and stood up, replacing your meaningless guns with Micah's beloved revolvers. You knelt down and pressed one last kiss to Micah's forehead before standing up again.

It was time to round up any remaining men and get far away from here, maybe if there was any men left you would risk spending more time around here to bury Micah's body.

No matter what you did, you would do it all while you tried to ignore the empty, hollow feeling that nestled into your chest.
