I walk into the dining hall and everyone is already sitting at the table. They've all already got muffins, or cake or brownies and I could really go for a brownie right now. I'm about to go to get one, but Jake waves at me to come over. I walk over confused and he holds up a brownie for me. "How did you know?" I say shocked, sitting down.
"Wild guess," He says I smile and sit down at the table to eat. Jess is putting her head down on the table, and Jonathan looks like he's about to fall asleep right here.
"You guys tired?" I ask them
"Yes.." Jonathan says sleepily
"What happened to eating?" Jake asks
"Oh, you're right," He says, getting up to get food.
I laugh and say "Jess, you okay?"
"Yeah, I'm fine," She says "Thanks again guys"
"Don't mention it" Jake smiles. Jess smiles back and goes back to putting her head on the table. When everyone is done, we head back to Jess's apartment and she tells us where we can sleep. Jake and I sleep on the pull-out couch, and Jonathan and Katherine take the other sofa. Dean grabs sheets and piles them up to make a sort of Mattress, and Emma does the same.
When we're all settled Jess says "Goodnight guys"
"Night' Jess" We all say.
She turns off the lights, and I put my arm around Jake and put my head on his shoulder, and he puts his arm around me. I close my eyes and realize how tired I am and then, fall asleep.

I wake up the next morning, at 6 am, like usual. Surprisingly, Jess is already up and the kitchen light is on. I move slowly, out of Jake's arm, to not wake him up and walk to the kitchen.
"Morning," She says, pouring me a cup of coffee
"Good morning," I say, drinking it "Wow, this is delicious"
She laughs and says "Thanks. Are you ready for the second day of the sims?" Jess asks
"I don't know what's worse, doing the sims, or waiting for everyone else to do them," I say
She says "It must be so easy for you. Your time is so fast I can't believe it. How do you do it?"
"Oh um," I hesitate. I don't want her to know I'm divergent " I just try to calm down as best I can I guess"
"You must be really calm to move on that fast,"
I smile at her and say "Oh, my clothes are back in the dorm. I think I'm gonna go down and shower quickly and then come back"
"Okay no problem, see you in a little"
"Bye!" I whisper so no one wakes up.I walk down to the dorms, and the Dauntless compound looks so different right now. Most of the lights are off, because of the city rules of having lights on at certain times. Since it's so early, they still are off and the compound looks so peaceful. The only sound is of the water rushing, and the light only comes in from the glass ceiling. The moon is still out since it's winter, so the entire compound is lit up with white.
"Hey," Tobias says from behind me.I jump from the sudden sound and he laughs.
"Oh my god Tobias, it is way too early for that," I tell him
"My bad. Where are you going?" He asks
"Back to the dorms to get ready. We stayed at Jess's last night" I tell him
"Oh, that makes sense. How's she doing?" Tobias asks
"Surprisingly, really well. I thought she would be a little more upset, especially today not seeing Liam in the morning, but she was really good" I tell him
"Well, people handle situations in different ways I guess," Tobias says. Just then a dark figure I can't make out in the dark calls Tobias to come over. "Oh I got to go, I'll say you later for initiation," He says
I nod and he goes in the direction of the figure. They both walk away, and I start to walk faster towards the dorms to get ready. When I finally get there I walk slowly to not wake them up and grab my clothes. I walk to the showers, and turn on the water and run my fingers through my hair. When I'm done showering, I put my hair in two braids, just like before, brush my teeth, and put on some makeup. It takes me only about 15 minutes to get ready all together. When I'm done I walk back up to Jess's apartment, the compound lights being on by now. There everyone is already up and eating or drinking something in the kitchen.
They turn to look at me and say things like "Morning" or "Hey Rose".
"Hey guys, good morning" I reply
"Rose, come here!" Katherine yells from the bathroomI walk in, and she and Emma are standing inside in front of the mirror getting ready.
"Hey, can you help me out with this?" Emma says, referring to her eyeliner.
"Of course," I say, taking the pencil from her hand. I concentrate, drawing the line on her eyelid.
"When did you start wearing makeup, Rose?" Emma asks
"A little while after I started doing my hair differently in Abnegation," I tell her
"Weren't you judged though?" Katherine asks
"Yeah, but I didn't care. It shouldn't be a disgrace to dress how you want, you know?" I tell her still doing Emma's liner
"I get that," Emma asks
I smile and say "Ok...All done" finishing her liner
"Thanks, Rose" She smiles
"Anytime," I tell her smiling as well. They finish getting ready, and we talk while they do.
When we're close to being done Dean comes to the door and asks "You guys ready? We have to head down soon."
"Yeah I'm almost done," Katherine says
"Okay, Emma, Rose?" Dean asks
"Same as Katherine," Emma says
"I'm already done, I was just talking to them," I tell Dean
He laughs a little and says "Okay then" and goes back out
A few moments I go back out too, to the living room until Katherine and Emma are done.
"How are you guys feeling about the sims today?" Jess asks the others
"Nervous," Jonathan says
"Same" Dean and Jake say
"You'll be fine. Only today and tomorrow, and then we see the results." Jess says
"Wow. It's going to be over that fast" I say
Everyone looks over at me, not knowing I walked into the room. Surprisingly, I'm gonna be sad initiation is over. I mean, sure, it's exhausting and painful and tiring, but it was also the best experience I've ever had. It's not every day I got to jump on trains and jump into the floor from the roof to land in a net. All I can do now is hope that I, and my friends, make it through.
"I can't believe it's over already," Jake says
"Same. I feel like we just jumped off that roof yesterday" Dean says
I smile and say "Yeah" sadly.
"Come on guys, cheer up! Sure it's over, but you'll be permanent Dauntless when It's over. No more having to wonder if you made the right decision" Jess says
"If we ever make it through," Katherine says, walking out with Emma. They have sad expressions on their face.
"You guys are so hard to please," Jess says
I check the time. It's already 6:50. "Shoot, guys, it's already 6:50," I tell them
Everyone begins to scramble for their jackets or things they'll need, and then we're all out the door and walking towards the hallway we were yesterday.
"Guys," Emma says
"Hm?" We all say "If we don't all make it, I wanna tell you that, I'm grateful for meeting you guys," She says "And I love you all, even you Dean," Emma says
Dean laughs and we do too and I say "Love you too Emma, all of you"
"Ya, me too," Katherine says
"Same" Jake, Jonathan, and Dean say
I might not know what's going to happen after initiation today and tomorrow, but I know that I couldn't have asked for a better family.
