Sean MacGuire X Female Reader

Summary: When you tell Sean about your pregnancy, you see a whole new side to him, a more mature side that only wants what is best for his family. The two of you end up deciding that moving away for a simpler life would be a better idea, but it takes you further than you expected.

Word Count: 4200

You had spent days thinking about how you were going to tell Sean the news. You felt a little bad for worrying so much about how he would react but who could blame you? Sean wasn't a bad person, far from it, but he was a young outlaw who appeared to have a dream of becoming a well known outlaw like his father, what you had to tell him didn't exactly fit in with that plan. That being said, you knew that he would do everything he could because he loved you, you just had to have a conversation about it. You couldn't put it off any longer.

So, you started looking for him as you gathered up the courage. Wandering around the camp in an attempt to find the familiar red head, you finally heard his voice.

"Like I told you...a white rabbit" Sean's voice came from behind you, making you smile as you turned and headed in that direction. He was just past the horses, out of the way of the other members of the camp.

"They're, well...they're magical" Sean said as you finally found him, seeing him kneeling beside Jack, who must have found the dead white rabbit that lay in front of them. You cringed a little at the sight but wondered what Sean was talking about.

"Really?" Jack asked, looking up at him.

"Sure. It's a sign...it's definitely a sign" Sean nodded and you couldn't help but smile, it was adorable.

"A sign of what?" the young boy asked as you walked over to them.

"No idea, yet...no idea" Sean confessed, making you chuckle quickly. The sound made him look up and see you approaching. "Y/n, my love, it's a sign, ain't it?" he asked, seeking some support.

"I'm sure it is" you agreed as you knelt down beside Sean.

"Sure. A sign that you've done dumb in the head" Arthur teased as he sauntered over, raising an eyebrow at the three of you.

"Jackie boy...that's the age of reason right there...no room for dreams" Sean shook his head disapprovingly while you just laughed.

"Oh well...bye, Mr Rabbit" Jack smiled before standing up and walking away, returning to the camp.

"Cheer up, Arthur" you said playfully, making Arthur chuckle before just picking up the rabbit and carrying it over to Pearson's wagon, shaking his head at you both. "Sean?" you asked once Arthur was out of sight, both of you still kneeling in the grass.

"Yeah?" Sean asked, looking at you with a smile.

"I have to tell you something" you spoke, figuring that it was as good a time as any.

"Sure, you know you can tell me anything" Sean nodded as he took your hand in his.

"I, uh...I found out a few days ago but wasn't sure how to tell you but...I'm pregnant..." you told him simply and were greeted with a pause.

The silence was suffocating, letting your anxiety run wild. You watched his face for a reaction but it was blank, he was processing what you just told him so you gave him the time he needed.

Suddenly Sean had lurched forward and cupped your face in his hands, smashing his lips into yours as you fell to the ground. You were in shock as you fell back onto the grass, your arms instinctively wrapping around Sean's neck as you returned his enthusiastic kiss.

"So you're happy?" you asked, a little breathlessly, as he pulled away from the kiss.

"Happy? This is amazing!" Sean's smile was blinding before he lent down and kissed you again.

"Get a room you two, you ain't that far from camp. There's a damn child here" John's voice called from the horses, sounding more tired than disgusted.

"Get lost, Marston!" Sean called back with a bright smile, making you laugh. John just rolled his eyes before walking away, muttering to himself. "Sorry" he apologised as he stood up and helped you to your feet.

"It's fine" you chuckled as you brushed the dirt off of your clothes, Sean doing the same. "Come on, let's go somewhere to talk" you suggested and Sean nodded, both of you knowing that the two of you had some decisions to make.

Taking your hand in his, Sean walked with you out of the camp to find somewhere quiet and far enough away from the camp so that you wouldn't be overheard.

Once far enough away and finding a private, quiet, spot among the trees, you turned back to the Irishman.

"I can't believe I'm going to have a kid" Sean beamed, placing his hands on your waist and pulling you towards him.

"I'm so glad you're happy" you sighed in relief, a small smile playing on your lips.

"Of course I'm happy! I'm going to be a dad, this is incredible" Sean placed his hand on your stomach and looked down at it, marvelling at the fact that his child was in there.

"You're going to be a great dad, they're going to love you" you told him, bringing your hands up to his face to make him look at you. You knew that at times he could be a child at heart and you just knew that your child would love him.

"And you're going to be the best mother" Sean insisted, leaning in to kiss you again. He could never tire of your kisses. "I love you so much" he mumbled against your lips.

"I love you too" you giggled as he pulled you into another kiss, just overjoyed about the news you had given him.

Sean pulled away from the kiss and looked down at his hand that rested on your stomach, a small frown forming on his face.

"What's wrong?" you asked, frowning along with him.

"...my Pa was an outlaw all my life and was always been chased by the law. We had to run...we had to leave my home and I was just a kid. But my Pa still got killed so the running was pointless really...I don't want that for our kid. I want to be there for them and for them to be safe" Sean spoke softly as he rested his forehead against your own.

"Sean" you whispered his name to get his attention. Admittedly, you were surprised by his concerns and sincerity, that he was even thinking about that sort of stuff. "We're going to be alright" you assured him.

"I know but...I don't want to risk it. You and this baby are the most important things to me...I think we should leave" Sean told you, pulling away just enough to look at your face properly.

"Leave? Leave the gang?" you asked, eyes widening.

"Only if you want too but I think it would be safer. We can move far away and start again" Sean suggested but still not wanting to do anything that you didn't want to do.

"I thought you wanted to be a fierce outlaw?" you asked with a slightly playful tone, earning a small chuckle from him.

"I did...but now I want a family, with you" Sean shrugged, surprising you yet again. "I know I ain't wanted like Dutch or Arthur but those bounty hunters might still be looking for me and the detectives know that we are both involved with the gang...it would be best to just get away from it all" he explained with a logic he didn't show often.

"...yeah, yeah...let's do it. I want what's best for this baby and that isn't this, all the moving and running and danger. But I do have one question" you agreed, still watching his face as if it could help you read his mind.

"Ask away" Sean nodded.

"Are you sure you want to settle down and live the domestic life?" you asked, wondering if Sean would actually be happy in that life.

"I've never been more sure of anything. You mean everything to me...you're more important than causing trouble in the nearest town" Sean promised you, making you chuckle. This man always managed to surprise you, he really had matured since you first met him, even if he did still act like a big child at times. "Now, I have a question for you" he slipped his arms around your waist, pulling your body flush with his.

"What is it?" you asked, wrapping your arms around his neck.

"Where do you want to go? Anywhere you want, we'll make it happen" Sean asked.

"I...I don't know. I've never really had a home, always been happy just moving from place to place. Do you have any thoughts?" you confessed. You hadn't had to think about such a thing before, never having a real destination in mind.

"Somewhere far away, where we can start fresh and raise a family the way we want too...how about Ireland?" Sean suggested, thinking about how wonderful it would be to raise his child in a town similar to the one he grew up in.

"Ireland? Can you even go back there?" your head tilted to the side slightly.

"Sure. Nobody back there cares about me, they just wanted my father, didn't care about me or my mother. I'm more wanted here than I am there. We'll be safe, I promise" Sean assured you.

"In that case...it sounds perfect" you smiled, his idea certainly sounding appealing, as you pulled him in for a gentle kiss.

"Holy shit" Sean laughed to himself as you both parted from the kiss.

"What?" you asked, running your fingers through his hair.

"This is really happening...we're having a baby and we're leaving" Sean said, as if the realisation just hit him.

"We really are" you nodded, the two of you smiling like fools at this point.

"I already can't wait to meet them" Sean confessed, surprising himself with how excited he was to meet his new family.

"Well you have a while to wait" you reminded him with a small laugh.

"Good...it will give us time to move and find a place for them to grow up" Sean shrugged, smiling down at your stomach. He really was happy about you having his child and that was enough to put all your worries to rest and put a huge smile on your face.

"When do we leave?" you asked.

"Tomorrow? We can pack what we need and sneak out tomorrow night" Sean suggested, as long as that was alright with you.

"Sneak out?" you asked, brown furrowing slightly in confusion.

"I thought it would just be better to disappear. If we tell the others they are going to try to stop us" Sean pointed out, he was clearly seriously thinking this through.

"You're right, but I'm going to write a letter to Arthur. Let him know that we are safe and happy, that he doesn't need to worry about us. Then he can tell the others, no real details though" you nodded in agreement but you still didn't want your friends to worry about you.

"Good idea. Knowing him, he'd come lookin' for us" Sean joked, making you chuckle and nod again.

"Tomorrow night" you smiled.

"Tomorrow night" Sean nodded, giving you another quick kiss.

Sean placed his hand on your stomach again, smiling to himself. This really was the best news he had ever received and he couldn't be happier. He absolutely loved you more than anything and he already loved this child with his whole heart.

Both of you knew that leaving the gang wouldn't be that easy, these people had become your friends and family, but now the two of you had a child to think about. No matter what, they had to come first and neither of you wanted to raise them in this life.

- - - - -

The next day the two of you kept sharing looks and smiles, both of you excited to start your new lives even if you would both miss the other members of the gang. You had written the letter for Arthur and the two of you packed your bags, making sure that nobody noticed or became suspicious.

Other than packing and planning, you mostly spent time talking to the other members of the gang, making sure everything would end on good terms and speaking to your friends one last time.

Then night fell. Sean was on guard duty, which was honestly just lucky for the both of you because it meant that it was less likely that anyone would see you leaving. The two of you agreed on a time and Sean promised to be waiting with the horses ready and bags loaded onto the back of them.

You left your letter for Arthur, or any member of the gang really, in plain sight on your cot knowing that when they realised that you and Sean were missing, somebody would go to your tent to check on you.

Now, all that was left to do was meet with Sean. So, you did. You walked through the camp, making sure not to wake anyone up, taking one last look at the place you had called home and smiled before walking away from the camp.

Approaching the road a short distance from the camp, you saw two horses and a familiar figure. "Sean" you whispered as you walked up to him.

"Are you ready?" Sean asked, wrapping an arm around your waist as soon as you were standing in front of him.

"I am" you smiled as you wrapped your arms around his neck.

"Did you leave the letter?" he asked.

"I did" you nodded.

"Are you sure you have everything?" Sean asked, not wanting to leave a single thing behind.

"I'm sure, I even checked your bag in case you forgot anything" you assured him with a playful wink.

"God, I love you" Sean groaned, making you chuckle.

"I love you too" you smiled, leaning up to give him a quick, reassuring kiss.

"C'mon, let's get moving" Sean kissed your temple before the two of you pulled away from each other.

You shared another glance and small smiles as you mounted your horses, riding away from the camp. Neither of you were hundred percent sure what your next steps where or what exactly you would do when you got to Ireland but you would figure it out, you both truly believed that.

- - - - -

You took the hand that Sean so politely offered as you stepped down from the boat. "Welcome to Ireland" Sean announced, making you laugh. "You're goin' to love it here" he told you.

"I'm sure I will" you laced your arm through his as you both followed the crowd of people who were also disembarking the ship.

"So, I was thinking about a little place in the countryside" Sean hummed, looking at you for your thoughts.

"That sounds absolutely perfect" you grinned, much more fond of a life in the countryside than a city. "...but how exactly are we going to get that place?" you asked, your face falling slightly. It sounded wonderful but how realistic was that goal?

"Don't you worry, I'll sort it out. We're going to get it and it's going to be perfect" Sean promised you, not wanting you to worry about it for even a moment. "But until then, we'll find another place" he shrugged.

"As long as we're together, we're going to be fine" you squeezed his arm gently, making him bring you both to a halt.

"You, me, and the youngin" Sean grinned as he placed a hand on your baby bump.

"Just the three of us" you smiled, placing your hand on top of his own.

- - - - -

You finished tidying up the kitchen of your small apartment. It wasn't exactly what you and Sean had imagined for yourselves but it was all you could get at the moment, it was still safer that running with a gang of outlaws. It may not have been perfect but it could have been worse.

A smile still rose to your face when you heard the front door open and close but you didn't have a chance to greet the man you loved.

"Y/n! My love! I have great news!" Sean's voice rang through the apartment, he sounded excited and proud of himself. You stepped out into the living room and raised an eyebrow at the exciting looking Sean. "Pack your things! Your man has pulled through once again" he announced, holding his arms out to his sides.

"What did you do?" you asked, amused by his demeanour.

"I'm getting us out of this little place. You're going to love the place I found, it's exactly what we wanted and it's all ours" Sean told you, smile as big as it was when you first told him you were pregnant.

"It's ours?" you asked, confused about what he meant exactly. Had he actually bought a new place? Surely not.

"I bought it. It's all ours" Sean repeated, clarifying for you.

"...you're serious?" you asked cautiously, not getting excited until you were sure it was real and you weren't imagining things.

"I wouldn't joke about that" Sean promised you. "Now, come give me a kiss" he ushered you towards him with a cheeky smile. You beamed as you walked up to him, cupping your face in his hands and pulling him into a kiss. "It's going to be perfect for them" he whispered as he placed his hand on your, now, round stomach.

"Not long now until they're here" you reminded him with a smile.

"Then it's a good thing we're getting out of here" Sean chuckled.

"Well, why are we waiting around? Let's get packing" you said excited as you pulled away from him. Sean laughed and nodded before the two of you got to work, him making sure that you did no heavy lifting and chastising you every time you attempted it.

- - - - -

"Oh my God, Sean" your eyes widened as the wagon rode up to your new home. It really was what the two of you had in mind, a private place in the countryside, surrounded by beautiful scenery.

"Do you like it?" Sean asked from his place beside you on the wagon.

"I love it...it's absolutely perfect" you smiled as him before looking back at your new home, admiring the cute two story cottage that was surrounded by green land.

"I'm glad you like it" Sean beamed proudly as he brought the wagon to a stop in front of the building.

"I ever tell you that I love you?" you asked jokingly.

"Everyday" Sean nodded, his smile never smiling. "And I love ya too, darlin'" he told you as he hopped down from the wagon. "You're going to love the inside as well" he held his hands out to you and helped you down from the wagon.

"I already know I will" you assured him.

"You go and look inside, I'll start grabbing the bags" Sean told you.

"Such a gentleman" you pressed a kiss to his cheek before walking up to the house.

You walked inside and wandered around the first floor, exploring the cosy living room, and the decent sized kitchen that let in a lot of natural light. The whole place was beautiful, you loved it.

"So what do you think?" Sean's voice came from behind you.

"It's better than I even imagined" you turned to him with a smile.

"So, I did good?" he asked, his expression unreadable as he waited for your answer.

"You did great" you nodded, making him smile brightly.

"Sooo...we're have a kid, we have the dream house...but I think there is something missing" Sean confessed as he placed the bags he was holding down, walking up to you and placing his hands on your waist.

"What else have you got planned?" you asked as you placed your hands on his shoulders.

"There is only one more thing that I want...for you to be my wife" Sean spoke with a hopeful glint in his eyes. Logic told him that you would say yes, you loved him, but some little part of him was still worried that marriage wasn't something that you wanted.

"It's about time you asked" you laughed softly, could he really think that you would reject him?

"I wanted to wait until we had somewhere nice to live. You deserve a husband who can give you give you the life that you deserve and you deserved so much more than that shithole apartment" Sean confessed.

"That's so sweet but I would've married you even if we were homeless. I love you Sean" you assured him, cupping his jaw in one hand and brushing your thumb against his cheek.

"I love you too, darlin'" Sean rested his forehead against yours. "So, you'll marry me?" he asked.

"Of course I will" you nodded, chuckling into the kiss he planted on you.

"I have a ring, I swear! It's just...it's in one of these bags but I couldn't wait any longer" Sean promised you but you just laughed, assuring him that it was perfectly alright. "Now, you just sit down and make yourself comfortable. I'll unpack our things" he offered, not wanting you to lift a finger until you had that baby now.

"God, you're going to be a great husband" you complimented.

"I know" Sean bragged with a grin as he picked up the bags again and carried them out of the room. Leaving you laughing fondly to yourself, taking a seat on the comfortable couch that was position in front of the stone fireplace.

- - - - -

You sat on the bench outside of your home, smiling as you watched your beautiful redheaded daughter chasing your dog through the grass. Atop her head was a crown of colourful flowers that you had taught her to make, she had insisted that you wear one as well.

Standing from your seat, you walked through the grass, keeping an eye on your child, watching her laugh and play. Seeing her like this only reassured you and your husband that you had made the right decision about moving away from the gang, the three of you were safer here, happier here.

"Why are neither of my girls here to greet me when I get home?" Sean asked as he rounded the cottage, joining the two of you around the back of the house.

"Because we don't sit around waiting for you to get home" you turned to him with an amused expression.

"You're slacking on your wifely duties" Sean joked, walking up to you.

"If you aren't careful, I will definitely start slacking on my 'wifely duties'" you threatened, crossing your arms over your chest.

"I'm sorry, please never threaten me with that again" Sean apologised, making you laugh as he settled his hands on your waist.

"Welcome home" you rested your hands on his chest as you lent in and pressed a kiss to his lips.

"That's better" Sean grinned as you pulled away from him.

"Careful, MacGuire" you warned.

"Never, MacGuire" Sean teased. God, you loved having his last name now.

"Pa!" your daughter called as she ran towards you both.

"Hey there, sweetheart" Sean smiled widely as he lifted her up into his arms, letting her wrap her arms around his neck to greet him, "now that's the welcome home I was looking for."

"Oh shush, we were just outside, all you had to do was look out the kitchen window" you rolled your eyes.

"Ah c'mon, ya know I love ya" Sean looked at you with one of those looks you just couldn't say no to, a smile that made you smile with him.

"I love you too, you idiot" you shook your head before kissing his cheek. Your daughter huffed and reached for you to get your attention, just like her father. You both turned your attention to her and chuckled when you saw her pouting at you both. "We love you too" you told her, wrapping your hand around her smaller one.

"More than anything" Sean agreed.

"Love you both too" your daughter smiled bright, filling you both with awe.

"And I want one of these flower crowns you both have. I would like great in one of those" Sean told the two of you as he placed his daughter on the ground.

"I'll make you one! Momma taught me how" your daughter grinned proudly up at him. "What colour?" she asked.

"Whatever you think is best" Sean shrugged, making her smile again before she ran off to get started.

"There is noway you'll look better than me in a flower crown" you shook your head, smirking slightly.

"See, normally, I would argue with ya but...you're completely right" Sean threw his arm over your shoulders, pulling you into him and kissing the top of your head, making you laugh.
