Adhira was impatiently waiting outside of the hospital room for Dr. Sahani who was examining Koohu. Her eyes were red and swollen due to crying. Each minute is feeling like a year to her. She was crying remembering their sweet moments.
Flashback
It was Sunday. It's Adhira and Koohu's day. After a hectic week, they found Sunday for them to enjoy and spend more time with each other. Adhira promised Koohu that she will take her to the mall for shopping. As she promised Koohu. They woke up early. Adhira made pancakes for them. She fed her princess and both get ready for their day.
Adhira first takes her to the kids' clothing shop. She brought some dresses for her. They were passing from the ice cream parlor. Koohu was in Adhira's arms.
" Mumma ", Koohu calls Adhira in her sweet voice.
" Yes, baby ",
" Mumma I want ice cream ",
" Koohu you know na ice cream is not good for you baby",
" Mumma please please na ", Koohu makes a pout and tries to convince Adhira.
" Koohu ", Adhira looked at her with fake anger.
" Please na Mumma you are my best Mumma na pls...", Koohu was giving her 100% to convince her Mumma. And she succeeds in it.
" You are such a drama queen baby, you know how to convince Mumma ", Adhira and Koohu went to the ice cream parlor. Adhira put down Koohu and ordered her favorite butterscotch flavor. Adhira took out the money from the purse and handed it to the cashier.
" Hm here is your....", she turns to give ice cream to Koohu but she was not there fear took over Adhira.
" Koohu where are you...Koohu stop doesn't run ", She looked here and there and found Koohu running towards the panda who was sharing toffee with kids.
Adhira runs after her.
" Koohu baby stop ", Adhira catch her and found that she was breathing hard, and sweating, she bent to her height.
" Koohu, koohu are you ok baby ", Adhira cupped her face. Koohu was not responding to anything, she was only looking at Adhira without expressions.
" Koohu, baby are you hurt? ", Adhira asked with concern, her eyes had tears.
Koohu closed her eyes and fell on Adhira's lap.
" Koohu, baby open your eyes. Koohu ", Adhira started crying.
End of flashback
Present time
" Miss Kashyap ? ", Dr. Sahani came out of the room and asked for Adhira. She immediately gets up.
" Yes, How is my daughter? ",
" Please come with me ", without wasting more time she followed the Dr. cabin to his cabin.
" Dr. How is Koohu ", Dr. indicated to her to take a seat and pass the water to her. Adhira gulped down the water.
" Look, Miss. Kashyap, I won't give you false hope, you know your daughter condition very well, I have already told you about her condition ",
" Yes Dr. but she was fine till the afternoon, suddenly she runs to that panda but I immediately catch her. It was the first time when her condition is this much worse ", Adhira said in a crack voice. Her daughter was her world. She was the only reason Adhira was living for.
" Koohu is an understanding girl. The way she co-operates with you is appreciable ",
" She is so mature than her age, she is been always an obedient child I'm proud of her ", Adhira said and wipe her tears
" But today she scared me, how is she? she is ok na ? ", she asked again
" Miss. Kashyap Koohu is suffering from Ventral Septal Defect since her birth, at that time she was too young to perform surgery on her, we tried other treatments on her but her body is not responding to them. So surgery is the last option. Now she is three and half years old. And her disease is getting worse. If it is not treated as soon as possible she may face heart blockage, heart failure, or maybe death ", Those words rip Adhira's heart. The ground beneath her slipped. She went numb. Tears were silently flowing down from her cheeks.
" Miss. Kashyap we have less than one month to treat her, I already talked to my team members. And as a Cardiologist, I can only suggest that you should hurry. Have you heard about Dr. Collin? ",
" Yes. He is one of the best Cardiologist",
" Yes he is and he gives free service to needy peoples. He is in contract with our hospital. We already send the list of heart patients on which surgery is going to perform ",
" Will he treat Koohu ? ", She asked hopefully.
" Koohu will be lucky if he treats her, but the question is can you afford hospital expenses ",
" How much it will go? ",
" Koohu is my oldest patient I also want her to be healthy but I can't go against hospital authority ",
" I can understand Dr. ",
" It will cost nearly 30-40 lakhs rupees ",
" 30-40 lacks ", she mumbled it's too much for her. She already saved some money for Koohu's treatment but that was insufficient.
" Yes, Miss Kashyap ",
" Miss. Kashyap I know from which pain you are going through but we have to do this ",
" Are you sure after this surgery my Koohu will be normal ",
" We will do our best but yes there are 80% chances of Koohu become normal ",
" Can I see her? ",
" Yes ",

Exiting Dr. Sahani's office she went to Koohu's room. That little girl was surrounded by machines, various wires attached to her sensitive skin. Her beautiful face was pale. The talkative, active girl was unconscious. Seeing her condition Adhira burst into tears again.
Flashback
Koohu was one month old. Adhira was changing her clothes.
" Aww my baby sees how chubby and sweet you are, like rasgulla, Muha, my princess ", she put on frock and diaper and kissed on her cheeks.
But suddenly she started crying. Adhira picked her in their lap and started patting her back.
" What happened, my baby girl, shhh ",
" Aww see Mumma is here princess", she was trying to calm her but all in vain.
" Meera di, Meera di ", Koohu was crying so much she calls Meera who was with her to take care of Koohu.
" Ha Adhira, Kya Hua ",
" See na di she crying continuously ",
Now tears were flowing in her eyes too.
" Calm down Adhira, it happens. Maybe she has a stomach ache or she is hungry ",
" No di I recently feed her ",
" Baby please stop crying ", and suddenly Koohu's cry was nowhere to hear.
Adhira sigh in relief and looked at Koohu who's eyes were close and her breathing was slow,
" Meera di how suddenly she dozed off, before a second she was crying ", Adhira tried to wake her but she was unconscious. Adhira got panicked.
" Meera di she is unconscious, her breathing is also slow, her tummy is also swollen ", she checked her breathing.
" Adhira doesn't waste time here, take her to hospital ", Meera di scared too. Adhira takes her purse and Koohu's bag which was already packed.
Dr. was checking Koohu, he called another doctor and discuss the case with him.
Dr. asked Adhira some casual questions like has it happened before or the first time and all.
" Miss Kashyap, she is stable now and breathing normally but we have to perform some test to know more about her health ",
" Then do it, doctor. I can't see her suffer like this ", Adhira said in a cracked voice.
He nodded and perform the test Adhira was waiting in the corridor.
After few times Dr. called Adhira in the cabin. Adhira take a seat
" Miss Kashyap took this medication, we performed the tests, you will get the report tomorrow in the morning ",
" Thank you ", Adhira took Koohu in her lap and exit the hospital.

Next day in the hospital
Adhira left Koohu at home with Meera and instruct her to take look after her.
She was sitting at Dr. Sahani's ( cardiologist ) cabin who was checking Koohu's reports.
" Dr. She's fine, isn't she? ", Adhira asked impatiently.
" Miss. Kashyap I won't lie Koohu is not fine ",
" What happened to her? ",
" Miss. Kashyap your daughter is suffering from VSD. It is Ventricular Septal Defect ",
" VSD means she has a hole in her heart",
" Yes VSD is a hole in the wall separating the two lower chambers of the heart ", her heartbeat skip for a moment. It was the biggest shock for her. Her daughter her only reason to live is in danger.
" In normal development, the wall between the chambers closes before the fetus is born, so that by birth, oxygen-rich blood is kept from mixing with the oxygen-poor blood. When the hole does not close, it may cause higher pressure in the heart or reduced oxygen to the body", Dr. Sahani was giving information by showing a picture of the heart on a nearby computer.
" But why Koohu? ", Adhira was trying hard to hold her tears.
" See Miss Kashyap there is no answer for your question. It may be coming from parents or other unknown reasons ",
" What now? ",
" Look, Miss. Kashyap this kind of case is rare but can be treated. But as Koohu is too young for other treatments so we will try to cure her by medication ",
" I'm sure she is a strong girl she will cure ", Dr. Sahani said.
End of flashback
Adhira took Koohu's hand in her and kissed her forehead. Now here is the real test for her. She took her cellphone and called Meera.
" Hello, Adhira ",
" Hello, Meera di ",
" Adhira are you crying? ", Meera di asked with concern.
" Meera di...Koohu ", she composed herself and continued.
" Meera di can you please come to the hospital, Koohu is admitted here ",
Hearing that Meera agreed to come. After half an hour Meera arrives at the hospital. Adhira told her about Koohu's condition and asked her to stay with her. She also has to manage the money.
She went to her house and looked at the passbook for money she was saving from the day she got to know about Koohu's condition. She worked hard to collect the money.
" 10 lacks ", she sighed
" How will I manage to remain ",
Her mobile was continuously ringing without checking caller ID she answered it.
" Hello, may I speak with Miss? Adhira Kashyap "
" Yes speaking ",
" Good evening mam, I'm Prasad from Healthy Heart NGO ",
" Oh I've registered for my daughter ", her face lit up hearing the call from NGO.
" We found a sponsor for your daughter",
" Oh that's great you don't know how much I needed it this time ", again her eyes flow with happy tears.
" We are glad to help you mam, but before sponsoring he wants to meet you ",
" Oh ok when he wants to meet ",
" Tomorrow itself ",
" Ok fine, no problem, you tell me the time I will be there ",
" Ok, I'll msg you then, have a good day ",
" You too ", Adhira sighed in relief at least she has a hope this will work.
After the call, she cooked for her, Koohu and Meera. As Meera was there with Koohu.
She took two days off from college.
After saying bye to Koohu Adhira went to NGO.

She was waiting in the manager's office. She was so eager to meet the sponsor. She wanted to thanks he/her who helped her when she needed it the most.
" There he is ", the manager announced
Adhira stand up from her seat and turned.
There he stood Mr. Veer Shergill all in businessman look. Adhira looked at him. He was so handsome, fair complexion, black eyes, a sharp nose, and a little beard jawline, well build up the body.
The manager welcomed him and directed him to the seat Adhira also followed him. The manager introduced them to each other.
" Mr. Shergill, this is Miss. Adhira Kashyap ", He looked at her with weird expressions, like he knows her. But something is off in his looks.
" Miss. Kashyap I think you know him. Meet Mr. Veer Shergill today's topmost industrialist in India ",
" Nice to meet you sir ", Adhira gave him gentle smile and forwarded her hand to handshake.
He nodded and shake hands with her.
' This man is something ' Adhira's subconscious said as she is not getting good vibes from him.
" Miss Kashyap, Mr. Shergill agrees to sponsor Koohu ",
" What is your relation with Koohu ?", Veer asked
" She is my daughter ", Adhira was confused by his sudden question as she was not expecting him to ask.
" But Miss, Kashyap...", Now that makes her sense why he asked.
" I'm a single mother Mr. Shergill ", Adhira said confidently.
" I know very well...", he mumbled under his breath.
" Did you say something? ",
" No ", he lied to her.
" Mr. Dixit said me you wanted to meet me ", Adhira said.
" Yes, I have some matters to discuss with you ",
" Ok ",
" Not here ",
" Then ?",
" I want to talk with you in private ", he looked at Mr. Dixit the manager of the NGO. Mr. Dixit ordered the standing beside him to take them to garden
" What is the matter Mr. Shergill you want to discuss with me ",
" Miss. Kashyap I'm ready to sponsor your daughter's case, in all way. After the operation, I'll handle all the expenses",
" You don't know how much you owe me, my daughter is my life without her I'm nothing. She gave me hope to live. Thank you so much Mr. Shergill", she happy finally found a way to treat her daughter, she was so happy that her surgery will be performed soon and Koohu will get normal like other kids.
" Thanks, me later. I'll sponsor your daughter's operation but I have a condition ", he said coldly.
" Condition? ",
" Yes, ", he smirked
" And what is that? ",
" You have to marry me ", Adhira's eyes widened and her jaw dropped hearing him. Now that's the real shock.
