It happens beneath the naked eye,
Away from illuded smiles,
Thousands of I'm fines.
As lethal as poison,
Swifter than a spy.
It makes its move,
And seeps into your mind.
Whispers lies,
Swirls of doubts unleashed.
All it wants,
Are your cries of defeat.
So loud and near,
Yet unheard and afar.
They say they hear you,
Claims you're too young.
Ought to be invested in simple joys,
Laughs and curiosity galore.
But they don't see,
What they could.
The silent tears,
Nights of lost sleep,
The dying dreams.
They don't see you holding on,
To the person you were before.
Everyday is bland,
All monochromatic and a bore.
I can feel the colours floating in the distance,
So near to my grasp yet too far for my reach.
And all I can ever do is watch,
Watch them look on in hope of seeing who they lost.
Staring into the empty shell,
That was once bursting at the seams.
Oh so full of colour and joy I was,
The opposite of who I stand as now.
A painful reminder of the me I lost,
The me I so yearn to be,
Part of a wish unfulfilled.
A wish that would never see the light of day.
