Sebby
This was not a date, Sebby told himself that evening as he pulled off his black sweater and grabbed one in navy blue. It was clearly a booty call, so there was no reason for him to sweat what he was wearing, really.
He pulled on the blue sweater and studied his reflection.
It's one thing to betray your family by not only starting a friends with benefit relationship with the enemy, but to fall for him. It's a whole other brand of shitshow to get knocked up by said enemy, especially when they had no idea and didn't feel the same.
Sebby was totally screwed and he knew it. Yet here he was obsessing over how he looked, because maybe today would be the day that Quincy would see him as more than just a warm hole to stick his dick into.
For as long as Sebby could remember, his father (who was also the sheriff) had always hammered into their heads how despicable a pack the James were. They had a long history of dealing heroin and firearms, amongst other things. But did that stop him from falling for the boy's charms? Nope.
Quincy James was a notoriously nasty, arrogant, hothead and everyone in Lakewood-Drive knew it. He said what he wanted, did what he wanted, and took what he wanted with little or no regard for anyone's emotion or opinion, Sebby included.
As a matter of fact he'd been Sebby's biggest nemesis most of their lives. In high-school they couldn't go a day without getting into it, the Sheriff's son and the son of the resident drug lord, everyone knew they loathed each other. So how they went from that to this peculiar situation still had Sebby shook.
"Okay, i dont know if you think that mirrow would have solutions to your problems if you stared at it long enough, but one more minute and you're walking to your dick appointment." Sebby's best friend said with the usual amount of sass he was now accustomed to.
Sebby rolled his eyes. "It's more than that."
"Erm, reality and I begs to differ." She said chuckling.
"You're very hilarious Ayanna. if nursing doesn't work out for you, you should consider a career in stand up comedy." Sebby replied humorlessly, which was a clear sign of irritation.
"Oh oh."
"What?"
"Nothing." Ayanna said raising her hands in surrender.
"What bitch? If you have something to say just say it."
"I don't know Seb, it seems to me like you enjoy making yourself miserable," Sebby began to say something but she continued. "I mean, first you get involved with that fuck nigga, knowing that could cause an actual war between two families with a long history of animosity, now you're knocked up and won't tell him. Is it that you think you'd never show? What exactly do you hope to accomplish by withholding that information?"
"You don't know what you're talking about."
"I don't? Right. So Quincy isn't a piece of shit who bullied you for years and now continues to do so by using you for his satisfaction? Or is it the bun in the oven you're hiding that I'm wrong about?"
"Alright fuck off, it's not that simple and you know it. You know why I can't tell him."
"No I really don't, enlighten me."
Sebby said nothing.
Ayanna sighed and got up, placing both hands on his shoulder.
"Look I'm sorry if I'm being an ass, you know I always have your back. but this is getting out of hand Seb. Yes Q is a narcissistic asswipe who only cares about himself, everyone and their mama know that. And it's no secret that I'm not his biggest fan. But even I think he needs to know."
"Why though? He doesn't even know I have that gene, I'm a fucking freak."
"Yeah hiding that wasn't one of your brightest ideas. But i think it's time to come clean buddy, don't you? And you're not a freak, stop saying that shit."
"He's going to hate me.."
"And that would be different from now how?"
"Haha, you're still not funny."
Sebby muttered, then took a deep breath.
"I know okay, I know I have to tell him. But I need to find a way to tell my parents first. I never know what Quincy's reaction is going to be about anything, so I don't want my dad to be blindsided, he hates me enough as is."
"Shut up, your dad adores you, and you know it."
"Erm, reality and I begs to differ.." Sebby mocked and they both laugh. "I'm scared." Ayanna hugs him then.
"I know buddy, but everything is going to be okay, we'll figure it out together." She said cleaning the tears that'd escaped from his eyelids. "But right now you gotta hurry up so I can drop you off, because believe it or not, you're not the only one with a dick appointment ta-nightt!!!." Sebby laughed genuinely for the first time that day, tough as Ayanna might be, she always gave him comfort.
A knock on the door was followed by Sabrina calling, "Bro! Dad needs you downstairs..." she trailed off looking between the two friends who were still hugging "am I interrupting something? Wait aren't you like, gay? or was I tripping when I saw your tongue down Sam's esophagus last Christmas?"
"Wow! Everyone is funny today." Sebby said sarcastically, at the same time Ayanna was saying "Ew TMI Sabrina, Sam was hot though."
"Whatever weirdos." The girl hissed, putting her headphones back on and walked off, leaving the friends shaking their heads in amusement. Sabrina was always in her own little world.

While Ayanna waited in the car, Sebby went to speak to his dad... well argue, as usual.
"Dad, you know I can't do that."
"And why not?"
"You know why!" Sebby lashed out. "If and when I decide to settle down, it's going to be with someone of my own choosing. This isn't the stone ages Dad, you cannot just use me to fulfill a promise to an old friend! Plus I'm 21, tha fuck am I getting married for?"
Spencer made an ugly sound. "Don't be ridiculous boy, Brody is a fine young man with a good head on his shoulders, and no one is asking you to get married now, just get to know the young man and see what happens."
"I mean it Dad. I will not be pawned off like a piece of meat, and I'd very much like a say in who I spend the rest of my life with."
"Then you are just being your usual stubborn self."
"Why don't you ever support me?" Sebby asked, his voice breaking a little.
"I don't support you? Now you're just being a brat." The man huffed. "When you blatantly refused to join the force, without a care of how that would make me feel, did I say anything? When you decided to prefer men to women, did I say anything Sebastian? All I am asking is for you to put your family first for once in your sheltered life!"
"I didn't choose anything Dad! There was no 'choosing' involved, and not saying anything isn't the same as support father."
Spencer sighed, then said in a hostile tone. "I take it that's a no then."
"That's right. Whether or not you approve of my decision is not my problem, but yours." Sebby responded and started to walk away. He never used to speak to his father like that, as a matter of fact his father used to be his best friend at some point. But after years of the same line of conversation, he was completely and utterly fed up.
"It's that drug dealer, isn't it?"
"What?" Sebby stopped in his tracks. He knows?
"Tyrone's nuisance of a son. My deputies have reported on several occasions of your rendezvous with that boy. How could you Sebastian? Of all the people in Lakewood!"
Sebby prayed for patients. As much as he's being bold and talking back now, he knew his father wasn't really angry...yet. Because everyone knew an angry Spencer was the stuff of legends, and nobody wanted that.
"That 'drug dealer', as you call him, has nothing to do with my decision. You obviously didn't hear a word I just said."
"I heard you all right, but I still think you're making excuses. And when it comes to that drug dealer, you'd best listen to me. You are from different worlds and collision is inevitable, you mark my words."
Refusing to trade anymore hostility, Sebby said with as much politeness as he could muster, "Thanks for the advise Dad, I've got somewhere to be."
As he walked out he couldn't help but wished this rollercoaster that was him and his father's relationship would improve.
Quincy would make him feel better, he assured himself with a smile, especially when he kissed him. Now that was a rollercoaster ride he'd definitely enjoy.
