As I walked into the house both of my brother stopped watching tv to look at me
"Where you been?" Evan asked like he was somebody's daddy
"Mind your business"
"You still got food in that bag?" Sean pointed to the chic fil a bag in my hand. Before I could answer he grabbed it and instead of fighting him back for it, I just let him have it because I was mentally exhausted. Thanks to Christian my life has been a living hell at school between the whispers and even people being bold enough to confront me then get mad when I don't give them an answer. I mean it's not any of their business if I'm pregnant or not and plus Akira has been sick for the past two days so I've been at school by myself if I wasn't with Tremaine
As I was about to head to my room I heard my name being called from the kitchen. I walked into the kitchen seeing my sitting at the table with Vaeh, wearing her work clothes as Vaeh did her homework
"You gotta work tonight?"
"Yeah." She answered while rubbing her forehead "where you been?"
"I had a job interview at 5 so Tremaine took me"
The minute I said something about a job interview she seemed shook. Sitting up straight in her seat now she crossed her arms and Vaeh looked up from her homework
"A job interview? Where?"
"Foot locker in the mall"
"Oh really! How did it go?"
"I went good. The manager said he'll be in touch before the end of the week so I can start working as soon as possible"
"You could've just said ASAP instead of saying the whole sentence" Vaeh shrugged
"Mind your business and finish that work cause if I get another call from a teacher saying you not doing your work ima whoop your ass Nevaeh"
She muttered something before looking down at her homework again and momma focused back on me "that's good. I'm proud of you for taking initiative because with these bills, your brothers and sisters with these field trips and them cutting my hours at work.. my pockets are too tight so you gotta step up and do whatchu gotta do to prepare for when this baby comes"
"Baby?" Nevaeh's head quickly shot up again and momma closed her eyes while sighing "momma you pregnant again?"
"NEVAEH IMANI HOSKINS!" She now fussed making Vaeh shut up, resting her fist under her chin as she looked at her work again
"Go in the room and finish that damn work and if it's not finished before I leave I swear..."
She got up and grabbed her work with no hesitation and left the kitchen. Once she was gone my momma pointed to the seat Vaeh sat in informing me to sit down. Once I did she looked at the chic fil a cup in my hand
"You already ate?"
"Tremaine took me at something to eat but Sean and Evan eating the rest of it"
"Well I ordered a pizza for y'all cause I'm honestly too tired to cook. It's on the stove"
I looked at her and saw the bags under her eyes. Her hair was pulled back into a low ponytail and you could tell clear as day she was more than physically drained. It was deeper than that and I know I didn't make it any better
"I told them I could work everyday after school and on the weekends"
"That's cool and all thinking of all of those hours but I'm not about to let you work everyday like that. You still in school. You have homework and pregnancy is stressful. Work! But not too much. How much you get paid?"

"So let's say you work 3 days after school through the week and on Saturday or Sunday.. preferably Sunday.. making between 450 to 5 or 6 hundred dollars a month. Save up that money and only use it to buy stuff for this baby and keep the leftovers saved for when you out of work and really need it. Plus you know Terri said she'll help you, Mrs Gee and Akira's parents said they'll help you out too if you need anything and whenever I got it, I got you. Just do what you can and whatever you can't do, know you got help. But just take this serious Egypt because life ain't easy with a child"
I nodded and she paused before talking again "just please promise me you won't let this stop you from being great egypt. I still know you're gonna do great things in life and if anything this should give you more motivation"
"I won't. I promise"
She smiled and stood up letting out a long stretch "let me get outta here and get to work. Ima probably already be late.. y'all behave and if y'all have an emergency go to Mrs Gee"
"Alright.. be safe momma. Love you"
"I love you too"
I watched her as she walked out the kitchen and looked at my cup
"Damn I'm still hungry" I sighed before standing up to go get a slice of pizza
Akira Dials

"Akira!" Christian yelled my name as he walked into my room while I flipped through the tv channels.
Friday was our parents anniversary so my dad surprised my mom with a trip to Jamaica leaving us here alone until next Wednesday so I decided I was gonna stay in my room to keep from killing my brother
"Get out my room"
"The fuck is yo problem?"
"Youre my problem. Now BYE"
"I ain did shit to yo lil ugly ass" he ranted as he turned to walk out the room
"Taking advantage of my best friend, getting her pregnant and threatening her to have an abortion.. that's something"
He stopped and looked at me "what?"
"You heard exactly what I said. And you foul as fuck for that and I would say something but you lucky egypt don't wanna tell"
"So you gone follow Egypt up?" He asked with a chuckle "egypt ain did shit she ain wanted to do, talkin bout I took advantage of that bitch.. keep listening to her"
"Watch who you callin a bitch!" I fussed as I got up and stood him his face making him laugh
"I hope you'on think you can beat my ass"
"And I Hope you'on think you scare me Christian"
"Kira gone bout yo business man"
"You in MY room so you gone hear MY mouth!"
"Ion gotta hear shit so back yo ass up before I knock you down. Forreal"
"Do it then! Cause that ain't gone change the fact that you gone be a deadbeat daddy. And momma got the nerve to try to talk down on me because you got a promising basketball career? Let's see how she feel when she find out her favorite child ain't as innocent as she think he is"
Christian mushed me in my face so I swung on him, causing us to start fighting.

The sound of somebody banging on the door kept waking me up but for some reason I kept thinking it was a dream because it would stop once I got up. After the 4th time I decided to get all the way up, rubbing my eyes and looked across the room to see Vaeh asleep along with the sound of someone banging in the door again
"What the hell"
I stood up and walked out of the room, turning on the living room light as I went to the door. Akira stood there in tears causing me to get confused
"Akira!? Where you came from?"
"Home.." she wiped her eyes "you think ma would let me stay the night here?"
I let her in and closed the door
"What happened? How'd you get here?"
"I walked"
"From your house?!"
She nodded and sat down, sitting the bag she carried in the chair beside her
"I can't stay in the house with Christian for a week. I swear to god I wanna kill him egypt and that's why I'm crying right now"
I sighed and sat down beside her "Ima text my momma and let her know. You just sleep in my bed and I'll sleep in hers"
"You sure she won't mind?"
"You know she won't. Like you claim... you one of her favorites" I told her causing us both to laugh
"I love you so much egypt.. and I wish this didn't have to happen to you"
"Stuff happens for a reason I guess. Let's just pray this reason is just a good one... we'll be fine" I told her as I touched my stomach
