Damon's POV
These business parties were never all the rage, but being here is part of the gig. A few coworkers and associates pulled me aside stringing me into a conversation that I wasn't too interested to be a part of, while Tony and the girls walked to a table.
I kept glancing over to the table to see Rachel, just to make sure she was okay. Price sometimes makes his way to these things and the last thing I need is him walking up in here to try to pull a stunt. That's the reason why I made sure Tony came tonight, most of the time he avoids these at all cost, but tonight I needed to make sure that Rachel was never alone.
"How is the bar going?" Wilson, one of men in the circle brought up, not many of them were fond of the bar but its more business
"Really well actually, its very popular" I held a glass of scotch in my hand just like the others, a waitress walked by and one of the men took one and handed it to me so I couldn't really say no
"Well it is your bar, you're very well liked so its no surprise its successful" he continued, I let out a chuckle in a form of thanks
I looked around and could see that there were so many guys looking at my Rachel, I can't say I'm surprised though, she looks breathtaking. I could see them stealing a glance at her but she hadn't noticed. My head moved towards the entrance to see Mr Richards walking in with his wife on his arm and his son closely behind.
Can't stand that guy
"are you looking into any future businesses?" James, One of the other men added to the conversation
"I'm looking into options, I want to do something with my girlfriend in the future" I smiled, the thought of working with her excited me. I know that she would push me to do work hard and do better
"You think that would work?" his voice distracted me from my thoughts
"I don't see why not" I responded, in an almost defensive tone
"well what if you were to split up?" Roberts, one of the other men added
I should remember their first names
The most I do is remember last names
"well its something that would be discussed when our relationship advances" maybe bringing this up in front of a bunch of men who can hardly stand their wives wasn't the best idea
"if it advances" Roberts went to pat my back as he spoke

"oh it will" I pushed
"Well if I'm not mistaken, that's William Richards talking to your girlfriend" he gestured behind me
I turned to see Richards holding my Rachel's hand, his father slowly making his way towards them

"excuse me gentlemen" I turned to speak to the men before turning around to walk to the table Rachel is at
As I walked closer I could feel my blood beginning to boil and there's no calming it
"She has a date William" I heard Tony's voice trying to get him to walk away
"Well I don't see him around" I walked up to where his and Rachel's hands met
"He's right here" I smiled through my anger, watching him finally let go of Rachel's hand "look elsewhere William"
"One dance won't hurt will it Mr Powers?" the governor butted in, daddy always comes to help
"I'm afraid it will Mr. Richards, you see-" he interrupted
"I don't think it will, Mr. Powers" this man knows me, he knows the power I have but no matter what he always has things his way. I mean I guess he is the one person who can end me in the business world
I could feel my jaw clench knowing he wasn't going to let this down
"We won't be long" William grabbed Rachel's hand "I'll have her falling for me in no time" he spoke to me as he followed her
I watched as he put his hand on her waist, my hands balled up into a fist wishing I could run up on him and kill him. He's lucky we're at a business event, somewhere in which I can't act out..and he knows that.
He turned her around so she wasn't facing me anymore and began talking to her, the way her body moved was hypnotizing, even to a boring song like the one playing. I know this idiot has no chance with my Rachel but I want to kill him just for trying
They continued to dance and talk for a few minutes, pretty much until the song ended, which to me felt endless. He finally took his hands off of her and walked her back to where we stood
"See that wasn't so bad, was it?" Richards spoke as they approached "thank you for that dance Rachel, it was a pleasure" he kissed her hand before finally walking away from us
"asshole" I mumbled as I pulled Rachel closer to me, placing my hand on her waist
She looked up at me, the look in her eyes was different than it was earlier
"Who's Tessa?" she asked softly
