Camille POV
As I stand here before Jared and feel the tension in my neck cease for some odd reason. I looked back at Douglas and mouth out to him to go in the house I be there in a minute and he nods. I watch him leave and turn back around to see his mother and sister smiling at me and him.
“Does this mean your coming home with us?” Marie said with a hopeful look
I open my mouth to reject the Question but I stop myself before it come out wrong. I sigh and shake my head looking down at my ex-lover and his family before me. I had to be honest with them and it was the hardest to decide. “No” I said hesitantly but watch her closely as she grew confuse
“But-But he just apologize on his hands in knees to you” she said with sadness
“It’s not that easy” I reply and move away from Jared and he stood up “I will forgive you for myself and Diamond. But I will not be returning with you guys. I’m sorry if I made you feel you waste gas to come up here to hear this unfortunate answer” I said in one breath
Jared looked to his side and chuckle holding himself and I was damn will confuse “Why are you laughing?” I asked curious
“You are so damn stubborn like I remember, which is one of the traits I fall in love with you… you think I will travel for eight fucking hours for nothing for some lousy rejection and let it go” Jared said now looking at me with fire in his eyes “I’m not accepting a no from you… Not now or ever. Until you understand am here for you and my daughter I’ll be around” Jared said
I was silent from the revelation of the truth of his love. I heard a noise from a distance but didn’t really pay much attention to it because I was so focus on how pissed he looked right about now. The noise got louder until it was right in front of my house and we all glance at it. There stood a school bus and children coming off. I heard his mother gasp and said with a happy voice.
“Is my granddaughter on that bus?” Mrs. Daniels asked
I glance at her for a minute and looked away with unclear mind “Yes” I said as I see my angel skipping towards us humming. She pause for a second looking confusing at our visitor then me with a question in them. I just smiled waving her over to me. She glance to my right to where Jared stood and broke out with a warm smile screaming.
“DADDY!!!” Diamond yells running to him with her open arms and him welcoming it with a smile of happiness.
“Hey baby… how was school today” Jared asked her
“Well it was okay because … I almost got in a fight with this girl name Amanda right-” Diamond said with her little hands moving in the air as she speak
I clear my throat to interrupt them glaring at her “Diamond what did I told you about messing with Miss Carina daughter” I scold her
She looked at me with pleading eyes “Mommy, I know but she started first… she told me I was an unwanted child from my daddy. And that no one loves me not even you!” she cried out with tears
I was pissed now that little girl had always was on my baby case and she going to feel me when I beat her behind. I told a deep breath to calm down my nervous “she what! And what did you say?” I said trying to control my angry
“I told her that she is a big liar and big stupid head and my mommy and daddy loves me” she smiles sadly
I got on my knees looking her in the eyes cause my tears to was falling as I spoke to her “ and it’s true we love you more than anything… me and daddy love you so much that he came down her just to see his little girl” I glance at Jared who watch her and glance at me
Diamond glance back her daddy “is it true you just came to visit me or is there something more?” she had hope in her little brown sparkling eyes
Jared smiles at her and kiss her head “Yes and No baby. Daddy came to bring you two home with me, but- mommy refuse so it just seem now as a visit
Diamond eyes sparkle as she smiles at him “I knew you would come for us… I just knew it. Don’t worry about mommy she still love you with all her heart” she said with so much love
Jared watch her with a smiled and nods along “then way did she reject me”
“Because she scared daddy” diamond said with all honesty
It was funny just how wise a nine year old could be just by watching their parents. They learn to acknowledge when something is wrong and pick up points out of the situation and put the pieces together. I glance over at Jared sister Marie who look at awe. She looked so pride even her mother Mrs. Daniels I sigh I need to introduce the family to my daughter.
“How you know that?” Jared asked he looked up at me then at his mother who had this uncertainty in her eyes. He just nods her over and along come his sister.
Diamond blinks and smiles “Cause I see the way she smiles when she thinking of you or when she knows she misses you and lies to herself more than once to believe it but it crumbles before her. she glance at me and smile sadly “sometimes I wake in the middle of the night and hear mommy crying for you, even though I was scared from nightmare I stay put and listen to her it breaks my heart deeply” she take her dads and my hand entwines them and I felt the rush of my blood and my heartbeat pick up so does Jared. Our eyes met at once letting out a slow breath. “Right here hurts mommy and daddy when you two are apart” putting her joins hands over her heart looking at us with plead and hope.
I didn’t know how to response to glancing up at Jared who eyes was already on me. His hand reach out to me touching my face with care and I respond closing my eyes at his touch. God knows how much I love this man, and it’s been nine years and I still can’t get him out my system. It was unhealthy but who cared at the moment before I knew it he we in front of me watching me as I open my eyes. He smiled that charming smile I loved and melted my heart on the spot.
“I’ll get you back… you just trust my word” he held a promise in his words. Moving back a little he glance at his mother then diamond “Honey, there is some people I want you to meet that are very important to daddy” He turns her around knees down beside as I get up “that’s your grandma and Aunt Marie”
Diamond look at me asking for permission I nod with smile. She step up to her Grandma first looking up at her with big eyes. “Hey… my name is Maple Diamond Hayes” she said with manners.
Mrs. Daniels had tears of joy in her eyes “Hey sweetie, my name is Avalon Daniels” she looks longingly at her like she waiting for something then the moment happen Diamond walks closer and hugs her tears of happiness spills.
“Mommy I have a grandma and Aunt” she said happily
Right there I felt guilty for keeping her away from her father side of the family. I wasn’t really trying to keep her way or be selfish it was to keep her safe. Maybe even myself if I really think about it. I wanted to say sorry for the pain I cause them but I knew that sorry was never enough. I watch them as they all come together Diamond looked at me then her Aunt and move back from her Grandma to her.
“Hey Diamond, I’m Marie Daniels your daddy’s big sister” she winks at Jared who rolls his eyes “it finally good to see you after hearing all the wonderful things he tell us about you” she smiles
Diamond smiles to “It good to meet you to Auntie Marie” she wraps her little arms around her and Marie welcome it. I was so busy watching them I didn’t notice that Jared holding me close to him. He turns me around in front of him as our eyes met. He held my eyes just as he capture my soul and touch my face with his left hand while the other play with my messy bun of curls. He smiles and chuckling to himself about something and I find myself smiling along with him. His smile was always contagious to everyone around him. His eyes will sparkle just like Diamonds when they’re very happy or very curious. I find myself remembering all the time he smiled like that and how good it felt to watch his lips curve into a smile. I was losing myself in his eyes they was so ocean blue and it felt like I was being pull deeper in their depts. I was just about to move away when he lean in and capture my lips with a soft kiss. I was to stun to move and finding my body respond right back without permission. What else stun me is I didn’t want to stop it, he nibble at my bottom lip like I remember as I sigh. I felt my eyes watering as he lean back not before whispering against my lips.
“I love you Camille Hayes” Jared said watching me as my tear falls down my face stepping away from me breaking my heart more with each step. I wanted to tell him stay but the words will never come out. I let a breath out slow and watch him hug and kiss Diamond Head and head towards the car with his mother and sister not without them hugging me.
“ It was great meeting you sister in law” Marie say moving away and winks at me “ I hope one day to actually see you too wed” walking away to the car
Last but not less his Mother Mrs. Daniels she hug me longer and kiss me forehead “it’s sure is a blessing to see you again, I never thought I will see this day to meet my grandchild but look at her she is amazing and so are you” she said while glancing at diamond whose by the car with her father. “Camille?” she called me
I looked at her “Yes?” I asked with wonder
“you don’t have to say anything right now but- if you could for me-” she pause looking at me and I turn my fully attention to her now “Can you please give my son a second chance… he is only human you know and we make dumb mistake how do you expect us to learn if we don’t right?” she asked and I nod for her to go on “We all see you as family and it would hurt me more if I lose you and my grandchild please… just think about it. Don’t get me wrong that guy your dating now his okay but he will never out beat Jared or remove him from you heart or mind and soul” she smiles and leaves me in thought as the truth hit me tenfold. She right I could never replace Jared in my life with no one more tears fall down my face. Watching their car pull out my drive way and down the street. I watch until the car was out of sight and felt my hand be grab looking down I see Diamond smiling up at me and winks.
“don’t worry mommy daddy will be back” she said with confidents and pulls me towards the house and going inside.
