Feel something
Chapter one: the vanishing of will Byers

SALEM THORN KNEW NO ONE IN HAWKINS. Aside from Steve Harrington, and apparently his father had noticed.  As he woke up the boy pretty early. Salem turned, twisting in his bed, pulling the sheets up and over his head.

Salem thought his father had left when there was no longer the pestering voice. Or the loud, annoyed sighing. But,he was wrong, as arms looped under his legs and back, throwing him up.

Salem yelled, screaming. His father was a strong man,and the fact that Salem was always under-weight,hadn't helped in this. Because,he and his father would never wake each other by pouring water in them.  Then,he was dropped back into his bed. "I told you to wake up. You got school."

Salem glared, rolling his eyes. "Why do I have to go? We still have to unpack things." He rolled from his bed, shuffling through his boxes to find a flannel shirt,or any button up shirt, finding a blue one, along with a pair of blue jeans. His father continued to speak, dispute that the boy was hardly listening. "Because, you need to go to school, plus, that boy never came here, you do need to return his jacket."

That's when Salem glared at his father,he hated it when he made a valid point. The boy pulled out a pair of boxers and jeans before leaving the room, opening the bathroom and locking the door.

Salem hadn't wanted his father to drive him to school. Not because he was embarrassed of him. But,because his father had said he wanted to unpack and search for a job. So,Salem has quickly skated down, seeing a few buses with the words his father had said the name of his school was.

Once arriving at Hawkins High School, the boy sighed. He kicked his skateboard up,starting to walk into the school. The school hadn't been what he expected. Not that he had low or high expectations for the school, but he hadn't thought it be so...cluttered.

Salem took a deep breathe, his skateboard being tight in his grip as he had taken his step, almost being run over. He glared at the car. Fucking bitch assholes.

He let out a rather loud and dramatic sigh, licking his lips before walking into the school. He felt eyes on him, which made him highly uncomfortable. It's just cause you are the new kid. They know nothing about you

The boy looked around, wanting to take in his surroundings. Find the best places to hide if he needs to. Although,he would never leave a fight and be seen as someone who had to run,he definitely won't have his father being his backup plan.

It has worked when he was younger, but, now it would just be pathetic. As he walked around, searching for the office,he had seen many people, all of who were walking to others or just at their lockers.

Salem approached the office, saying a small 'hello' while asking for his schedule. Then he left, searching for his locker. It seemed as if it just wasn't his day. As he couldn't find his locker, and once he had,he couldn't open it. He groaned, the bell sounding that he didn't have time before pulling out his schedule.

And this was the part he hated, scanning his schedule, getting lost and confused with the way the numbers had seemed to start to scatter all over the page, until giving up and turning. He had seen a redhead, wearing large glasses. In his mind, weighing his options. Possibly get mocked and made fun of someone I don't know,or,be late for class.

Dad'll kill me if I'm to late to class in the first day. So, he approached the girl, just in time that the teacher had seen her but where she hadn't entered the class yet. "Um,excuse me? Can you direct me to this-I'm new here."

The girl nodded, saying how she wants to just drop her stuff off before doing just that then coming back out, leading the boy to a entirely different locker, entering different numbers than the ones that he had entered. He stared in confusion, eye brows furrowing. "So,your new you said, meet anyone yet?"

The boy looked at her, hearing the way she had said it. As if she didn't actually want to speak to him. She swung his locker open, moving out the way so he could it whatever it was into the locker. Which he had just shoved a jacket in,remembering to look for Steve and return it. "Uh,you, and Steve Harris? Harring? Something like that."

He missed the way she smiled at messing up the last name. Of course,he didn't know he messed it up. "Steve Harrington? Oh,then,I feel awful for you. I'm Barb Holland." The boy made a confused face, confused as to why she would feel awful. "Oh,I'm Salem Thorn. And,why do you feel awful?" He had started to follow the lead of Barb, but the girl turned around and glanced at his open locker.

Barb chuckled, but something Salem noticed it wasn't real. Before she closed his locker and led  him to the classroom,in it,once he open the door, all eyes had turned to him. He gave an awkward smile and wave. But,the teacher hadn't turned around. "Harrington, late again."

Salem turned his head, giving the class a once over. Some students confused, some giggling. "Uh,I'm sure it's a bad thing if you will assume when a student is late, then it is,Harrington." At the new voice, the teacher turned. "Who are you?" Salem fought the urge to roll his eyes. Hadn't they gave the information of students when they switched? I thought they had. "Salem Thorn,I'm new here."

He heard the teacher scoff, which had made the boy frustrated. "Obviously,in the back, there's a seat empty." The boy followed, spotting two empty seats and taking his place. When five minutes later,Steve Harrington had walked, the teacher giving the same remark to him and he had to Salem. When Steve also made his way to the back, smiling at seeing Salem, sliding in the seat next to him. "Salem, how's being in Hawkins so far?"

Salem turned to him,a raised eyebrow as he turned to see if anyone was listening. "You should know, after all,you been there when I almost fucking drowned." Steve smiled, opening his mouth to speak again when he was cut off. "Harrington, please stop speaking to Thorn,I don't want yet another student sleeping on my lessons because of you." Nobody could hear what was said next, aside from Steve. "I think it's your lessons putting everyone to sleep." Steve chuckled, turning to smile at the  boy as he had taken the notes. "Man,I'll say,not a lot of interesting people around here, but you are definitely interesting."

Salem Thorn hadn't had many classes with Barba or Steve, the only two people he know. And something even better, because of how awkward he was,he had ended up forgetting to return Steve's jacket. The boy had skated home, much slower then he normally would. He had hated wanted to be home.

The moment he was home his father had left a note at the living room table. I have left to find a job,I'll be back before dinner. The boy had turned to the staircase, deciding to unpack a few boxes in his room.

Salem had his music blasting. His father had suggested the band. Although he had hardly liked them, changing it to 'The Clash'.

Salem has been through four boxes already, when he had gotten to a box that had been filled with pictures,he smiled at one. It was of his mother. The next one being of his father, mother and a two year old Salem.

His two first finger had gently skimmed the small frame, moving to his mother's hair. But,when hearing the door close,he had quickly put the pictures back, closing the box the way it had been and moving to another one. "Salem!"

The High schooler quickly made his way down the stairs, smiling. "So,what's for dinner?"

The young man hit the last step, having had jumped to hit,Luke gave him a disappointed look. "Salem, how many times have I told you not to do that?" Salem shrugged his shoulders, not remembering just how many times he was told. "And I'm gonna make your favorite,Mac and cheese."

Salem smiled, opening his mouth to speak but Luke didn't notice, now questioning him. "How about you help me make the Mac and cheese and tell me about how your day at school went?" Salem shook his head,a light smile on his lips. "It happened again."

Luke looked up,turning back to the boiling water and searching for the Mac and cheese boxes. "Uh,What happened again? Which?" Salem bit his lip, not sure why this happened to him. "The numbers...they kept floating around the page. And...uh, I got the wrong number of my locker. Someone had to help me with it..."

As he spoke, his voice had gotten lower,Luke dumped the Mac and cheese in the boiling water before quickly turning to his son. "Would you like me to give a note to a teacher..." Salem quickly shook his head. "No,don't do that. I think I'll figure it out later."

Luke frowned at his son, about to question him when Salem looks up. "Uh,do you want my help with the meat or should I go continue unpacking the boxes?" Luke nodded ,understanding his son had actually wanted to be alone and in quite. "Uh,unpack a few boxes. I'll call you when it's done."

Salem nodded making his way up the stairs, while Luke shook his head. His mind filled with the thought is concern for his son. Maybe I should get a tutor or something for him.

Salem day in his room, holding the same picture of his mother before continuing to unpack the pictures, getting lost in thoughts of the photos and memories.
