Ryzen POV
After the doctor checked the woman and child inside and explained some additional treatments, Lennox and I said our farewell to them.
Out of the sudden though, while walking down the hallways with Lennox, my stomach suddenly grumbled and made a loud noise.
Damn it! Since I used to go to surgeries for long hours before, my hunger is usually repressed. The only thing that I consumed today is coffee when I met with Juli earlier.
I bit my lips and looked down at my feet, feeling a faint blush creeping on my face. I hope Lennox is not turned off by it!
"Sorry. It seems like I haven't had a proper meal today."
I could feel him staring at me all this time and it took me a while before I had the courage to look at him directly in the eye.
Somehow... his expression is annoying!
His eyes are protruding and his lips expressed a teasing smirk. He's clearly mocking me...
"Then... do you wanna have dinner together?" he asked in a slight joking manner.
Yes! This is what I was aiming for. Unlike the slight embarrassment I felt earlier, now, I feel thankful that my stomach grumbled loudly.
I quickly nodded at him and gave him a big smile, causing him to let out a low chuckle.
"Hmm. Okay, let's go have dinner first." Lennox murmured, with a smirk still on his face.
We quickly decided to eat in a nearby Japanese restaurant that was only a 10 minute drive away from the hospital.
I'm actually quite satisfied with our restaurant choice because I also used to eat here all the time in my original life! I ordered the pork tonkatsu set which also came with rice, miso soup, vegetables and cucumber juice.
Once the food arrived in front of us, I couldn't help but gulp at how tasty the food looked. I couldn't wait to eat it!
But just when I was about to take my first bite, I saw Lennox looking at me with an amused expression.
"Don't mind me, go ahead and eat." he said.
"Okay. You have to eat too, Lennox. The food here is really good." I replied briefly before finally taking my first bite.
In a few minutes, I've already almost finished my food while Lennox was still mindfully eating his. I discerned his plate and found that he didn't even touch the vegetables and side dishes that came with his set meal.
Well, based from my previous dating experiences, elite men like him are usually picky eaters. Even when I dated before, the men I dined with were all so picky that they barely touched their food and almost never ate all the side dishes.
But as someone who works in the medical industry, I take nutrition very seriously and try to eat as healthy as much as possible. I've also done some volunteering opportunities in other countries so since a few years back, I've really valued food and as much as possible, I don't want to leave left-overs. Picky eaters actually make me feel disheartened whenever they leave out food, especially nutritious food like vegetables.
"You don't eat egg and vegetables?" I asked Lennox in a curious manner.
He suddenly stopped eating and looked at me briefly.
"Yeah." he said in a small voice.
I unknowingly pouted and observed his plate... he really is a picky eater!
"Who would've thought our mayor is such a picky eater? That's not good, you need to eat vegetables because they have lots of nutritional benefit. Eggs give you energy as well. Tsk." I said in a teasing manner.
He looked at me with a careless expression before continuing to eating just the meat from his dish, somewhat ignoring what I said.
"That's not good... You're also leaving out leftovers. Many children in the world can't afford to eat at all. But it's okay, I'm here, I'll eat your veggies and egg." I said shamelessly before giving myself permission to reach out his plate and get the food he didn't want to eat.
"But! What you're eating is not enough. Since you like meat, I'll give you mine." I said to him cheekily again.
I gave him the leftover slices that I still had and put it on his plate, leaving him somewhat dumbfounded.
That's right! In order to get his attention or have him to have a strong impression of me, I'll be shameless. I don't care anymore about formalities. I'll just act as if he's totally comfortable with me.
He looked at me with a questioning look and just when I thought that he was too picky to the point where he wouldn't eat food that came from other people's plate, he quietly ate the tonkatsu slices I gave him.
"Thanks." he said sheepishly.
I looked at him eating with a somehow frowned look before I let out a small laugh in a mocking manner.
"It's not that I'm a picky eater but... I don't have a lot of appetite for food in general. When I was younger, my mother tried to cook for us even though she was busy but the food... let's just say it's distasteful. When I see certain foods like egg and even mere vegetables, I somewhat still remember the food that she cooked." he admitted in a somewhat embarrassed manner.
I raised my eyebrows at him while still eating vegetables. He's... somewhat pitiful? But looking at this dignified mayor with an embarrassed expression right now, I couldn't help but think it's somehow funny.
"Oh, so that's how it is. Our mayor is so pitiful..." I pouted and remarked in a teasing manner.
He gave me a small glare for teasing him and hurriedly finished the rest of his set meal.
"But it's okay, I'll help you so you can eat those food again. I cook quite well, you know. Want me to bring you home cooked lunch sometime?" I said cheerfully.
Inwardly, I'm actually a bit nervous if he'll go along with what I'm saying. I don't know how to cook at all! I have 0% culinary skills and if I knew how to cook, I would've done it earlier and gave him home-cooked meals. After all, they said that the way to a man's heart is through food, right? I was a doctor in my original life that even skipped meals all the time and barely had enough time at home. Of course, with that situation, how would I find time to cook for my meals?
Lennox raised his eyebrows at me and looked at me in an amused manner.
"Really? You'll bring food that you've cooked for me? I'm looking forward to that." he murmured in a meaningful tone.
I smiled at him but inwardly, my heart beat really fast. I cursed myself for stating something that I have no confidence of accomplishing. Actually, I thought he would politely refuse, but who would've thought he'd agree so easily?
It looks like I jumped into a pit I created myself...
