Tzuyu was still adjusting to her newfound lifestyle. It had been over three years but she still felt like she couldn't control herself enough. So she only went out with her friends at night, and only if she had fed already.
"Guys! I want you to meet my friend." Dahyun smiled. Tzuyu stiffened, the human's scent engulfing her. It was calming actually. The perfect mix of absolutely delicious and soothing. "Her name is Mina!" She smiled.
"Nice to meet all of you." She bowed to the girls.
"So... You saw her and dragged her over?" Chaeyoung chuckled.
"Yes." Dahyun laughed.
"It's okay. My friends and I were just leaving. So I'm glad I got to see you all." Mina smiled. Tzuyu was still floored with the human's scent. Her eyes watching her and honestly, she was floored with her beauty as well. "Anyway.. I'll see you around Dubu." Mina chuckled while waving to Dahyun.
"Dubu?" Chaeng chuckled.
"Her friend calls me that when she goes to visit her." Dahyun chuckled.
Tzuyu made a mental note now. Mina lived in the same building as Dahyun. Just needed to know which one now. Since she didn't really have to sleep, only when shew as really exhausted, she decided to... Politely stalk Mina. She scoured the building Dahyun lived in, trying to find something that screamed Mina. Unfortunately, all the mailboxes were numbered by apartments, and the bell system in the front was by last name and apartment number.
"For fucks sake." Tzuyu sighed.
She found herself on the building across the street, looking into the windows that were opened. She saw found Dahyun's, an unmistakable giant sticker that Chaeyoung had put there last Christmas. Of course, to her mistake, it never came off like the package said, so now Dahyun had a giant Santa sticker on her window all year round. She wondered what floor Mina lived on, and which one. Was she a terrace person? Or just a giant window person? It wasn't until she saw her that she knew.
She saw Mina sitting in her living room, perched on the couch with a mug next to her on the little table. She had a book in her hands as she thumbed through it. Tzuyu smiled at her, watching her from across the street. Mina stayed completely still for a while, only moving to turn the page or take a sip of whatever was in her mug. She looked away for a moment, seeing a text from Chaeng. When she looked back up, she noticed that Mina was standing up, fixing her curtains. Tzuyu frowned as they were shut, and saw the light turn off behind them.
"At least now I know.." She whispered. Four windows from Dahyun's.
Every night she came back to her spot. Sometimes Mina was on the couch reading, or she was engrossed in a video game she was playing on her tv. She saw that Mina had a dog, which meant walks. She had to leave the apartment to walk the dog.
She practically knew Mina's nightly schedule now. Which made her both happy and terrified. She was happy that the girl would come home between 3:15pm and 3:30pm, would leave to walk her dog, come back, start cooking, eat, then read or play video games until taking her dog back out for a quick break just to go to sleep.
Yes, it was creepy, but Tzuyu didn't care.
It wasn't until she was staying the night with Dahyun and Chaeyoung that she ran into her again. The two had sent Tzuyu to pick up more snacks for their movie marathons that she saw her. She was walking with her little dog on a leash to the elevator.
"Don't fuck this up..." Tzuyu thought to herself as they both entered the elevator. Mina was too engrossed in her phone to realize that she was sharing the ride down. "You're getting out at the lobby?" She asked.
"Yes, thank you." Mina answered without looking up.
Tzuyu could smell her scent again. Both delicious and overwhelming. She had fed recently, but Mina made her just go crazy. She didn't want to attack her, she just wanted to hold her and tell her she smelled like flowers.
The two got out at the lobby, Tzuyu holding the door for her and her dog as they walked out.
"Thank you." Mina finally looked up, recognizing the girl. "Oh! You're Dahyun's friend." Mina smiled.
"Yeah." Tzuyu chuckled nervously.
"Sorry, just... Light reading." She mumbled while showing her phone. "Visiting or am I that oblivious that you live here too?" She laughed.
"No, I live somewhere else." Tzuyu laughed with her. "I'm spending the night here. Movie marathon night." She sighed. "They sent me for snacks and honestly.. No idea what to get.. Or where to go." She frowned when she realized when she really didn't know the area.
"Oh, I can show you a place.. I just have Ray with me." Mina gestured to her pup that was currently sniffing one of the trees in the little patch of grass in front of the building.
"It's fine.. I'll figure it out." Tzuyu quickly stated, but secretly wanted her to come with her.
"No, no. It's okay. I just need to put him back and come back down. It's not fair that you were invited to a movie night and then sent out with no sense of direction." Mina smiled. They waited a few minutes for Ray to finish his business and Mina eventually invited Tzuyu up to her place to wait.
"Wow." Tzuyu whispered.
"Sorry it's a mess." Mina apologized as she unclipped Ray's leash.
"Hardly a mess." Tzuyu smiled. It really wasn't a mess, just a few things that seemed out of place. She really only said wow because she never thought she would ever step foot in Mina's apartment.
It didn't take Mina long to get herself ready again, grabbing her bag before walking back out with Tzuyu.
The two walked together, Mina attempting at small talk the whole walk to the small store.
"So... How long have you known Dahyun?" She asked.
"Um... A while. We went to high school together. I was a transfer student and she took me in." Tzuyu smiled at the fond memory. "She made me feel welcome." She continued.
"That's sweet. She's always willing to watch Ray when I go visit my family. I haven't known her long, but we're mailbox neighbors." Mina shrugged. Her eyes glanced up at a store sign, stopping next to it. "Well this is the place that might have good snacks." She smiled while opening the door.
The two walked in, Tzuyu scouring the aisles with Mina lazily walking around picking up a few things she needed and wanted. Tzuyu had gotten a decent amount of snacks, meeting Mina in the front at the register. The two walked back, Mina snacking on a bag of chips on the way home.
"Um... I'm sorry if this sounds a little forward and creepy... But you're really cute." Tzuyu whispered. Mina blinked a few times, a small smile played on her lips as her cheeks blushed red. "I'm sorry." Tzuyu immediately frowned.
"Don't be." Mina smiled. "It... It's just.. Not used to compliments." She blushed. Tzuyu smiled, knowing that feeling well. "Especially when they come from someone who is obviously gorgeous." Mina instantly covered her mouth, looking away from the younger. Tzuyu felt her own cheeks blush and her heart start thumping in her chest. She didn't think she could still feel things like this after she was turned, but here she was.
When the two arrived at the building, it was a quiet ride up the elevator. The two of them still too flustered with one another to say anything. It wasn't until Tzuyu went to knock on the door to be let in that Mina grabbed her arm, and pulled her towards her. She quickly pressed her lips to Tzuyu's cheek and gave her a small smile.
"Um.... You... You can text me if you'd like.. I... I would like to get to know you.." Mina whispered.
"Me too." Tzuyu quickly pulled out her phone, letting Mina input her number and sent herself a text.
"I'll save it." Mina smiled while pulling out her phone to save it in front of her.
Tzuyu watched as Mina walked into her apartment. When she walked in, she saw a text from Mina, smiling as she read the cute message.
Mina: Maybe we can go for another snack run next weekend together? I like talking with you.
"What took you so long?!" Chaeyoung frowned at her.
"You sent me with no list of snacks and no sense of direction!" Tzuyu fired off while setting the bags of snacks in front of the two.
Tzuyu really didn't pay any mind to the movies, just texting Mina. She didn't realize how late the girl really did stay up. It was almost two in the morning when they had finished their movies, and Mina had just started playing a game.
That was when the thought hit her. But she smelled human. She couldn't.
As time had gone on, Tzuyu learned that Mina hardly slept due to insomnia, she was an early riser, and a night owl. She cursed herself that she only ran on a few hours of sleep, but Tzuyu was happy to stay awake with her and just talk. Which lead her to sitting in Mina's living room near midnight one night.
"You're not the slightest bit tired?" Tzuyu asked.
"Nope." She sighed.
"Have you seen a doctor about it?" She asked. Mina nodded while petting Ray. "And?"
"They prescribed sleeping pills." She shrugged. "But... I take them, fall asleep and then when I wake up I feel so... Disgusting and it's hard to get anything done." She explained. "So I just don't. I'm not suffering too badly now. Just a little tired in the morning." She shrugged. Tzuyu nodded, understanding completely.
They sat in silence for a bit, both of the watching a mindless tv show on her tv. Mina rested her head on Tzuyu's shoulder, enjoying her company. Tzuyu mentally screamed, enjoying the small action. She desperately just wanted to kiss her but she knew it was way too early to do that. When the episode was finished the two waited for the next one to load. Mina lifted her head, stretching slightly before getting herself more comfortable in Tzuyu's side.
"Having fun?" Tzuyu chuckled.
"I am." She smiled. "It's nice to binge watch something with someone." She let out a nervous laugh before lifting her head up again. "Unless you're lying about enjoying it." She frowned.
"I would much rather stay inside and binge watch something than go out and deal with people." Tzuyu answered quietly.
"Perfect." Mina smiled. Tzuyu smiled back, her chest fluttering at the sight of her perfect smile. She didn't realize it, but she was slowly moving closer to Mina, who responded by doing the same. Tzuyu's breath hitched slightly a split second before Mina closed the gap and pressed her lips against the younger's. It was a quick kiss, enough for Mina to feel a lot more than she expected, and Tzuyu to really feel more.
"I... Hope that was okay." Tzuyu whispered.
"Perfect.." Mina repeated, a smile on her hips before she bit on her bottom lip slightly. Tzuyu smiled at her action, pulling her in for another kiss. Both of them completely ignoring the show that was playing now.
"You smell nice." Tzuyu finally said when they broke apart.
"You do too..?" Mina frowned, unsure on how to take the compliment. Tzuyu chuckled, smiling at the older. One day she would know why that meant so much to her. Just.. Not now.
