You opened your eyes groggily after waking up in the infirmary. The paladins turned their attention to you as your eyes darted around the room. "Y/N I was so worried, what were you thinking?!" Lance asked, his ocean blue eyes were pools of worry. "Oh yeah, I guess I'm alright" You replied. The worried looks on the team's faces instantly changed to frustration as they all began to talk at once, scolding you. "So can I goo to training now or what?" You asked, feeling bored already. Lance's gaze hardened "No, you are staying here and not moving" The blue paladin replied. Your face twisted to a frown "But why?". An audible sigh rang in the room. "You have space flu," Pidge replied. "But-" "No" The team cried in unison.
*Time skip brought by mullet face*
Soon after your failed attempts at begging, you sat in bed with a minor headache, fever and sore throat. Then a knock on the door was heard "Come in" You called, rasping slightly, Keith walked into the room, folded his arms and scowled darkly at the ground "What do you want?" You snapped. Keith looked up and glared
"I don't get it"
. You tilted your head slightly " Don't get what?" "Why didn't you tell on me?" You shrugged and tossed some of you H/C hair "Oh if you want I can tell on you-" Keith cut you off "No!" "Then is that it or what?" You asked. Keith sighed. His expression softened as he looked you in the eyes.
"Y/N I'm sorry I just got angry" As he finished you wiped an imaginary tear from your eye and began to clap "It's real folks Keith can stop being emo!". The ebony-haired teen frowned lightly "I never was emo". You rolled your eyes "Whatever you say, Keith."
He thought for a moment before softening his frown. "What would make you change your opinion?" He asked. "Stay with me please!" You begged. Keith raised an eyebrow before shrugging "I have nothing else to do s sure". You thought for a moment before striking a conversation
"did you cradle Lance in your arms?".
The red paladin looked at you with an exasperated expression "Yes I did, he doesn't even remember!". You chuckled before patting a spot on the bed "Tell me all about it."
*2 hours later*
You and mullet face (I mean Keith) spent 2 hours talking and joking with each as if you had been friends for eternity. "So Keith you wanna go ride L/N?" You asked "Y/N I'm not sure you were pretty sick yesterday."
I'm almost healed just can't do training" As you lied effortlessly, Keith seemed to believe you.
"Well if your sure I guess."
"Yes, thanks, Keith!" You swiftly jumped out of bed but felt a dizzy spell wash over you. Thankfully you found yourself in two strong, slightly muscular arms. Keith's arms to be exact.
"Whoa, I don't think you should be out of bed anymore."
"Keith I'm fine seriously" As you rolled your eyes he still had a concerned look on his face.

I really don't know why I'm so stubborn sometimes. Maybe it's the fact that I despise being fussed over and pushing through the day is more appealing. Me and Keith ran to where the lions were kept and hopped onto L/N."Hey girl" I softly cooed I knew she could sense I was sicker then I let on and refused to move."Please girl come on" She finally gave in as we entered deep space.
Keith's POV
Me and Y/n flew into space, competing on who could come up with worse jokes. "Why weren't we friends ages ago?" She asked"Probably because of my rivalry with your brother" I replied, "Yeah"You know Keith your not so bad," She said"Y'know Y/N your not so bad your self" I replied.
Y/N POV
I talked to Keith for ages about anything and everything that came to mind. It felt good to be arguing with him. The ice-cold emo front he put on was merely a facade. He was just a softie who needed some love.
"H-Hey Keith is it just me or i-is it cold" Keith gave me a worried glance."Are you feeling alright?" He asked, staring me up and down. "No y-yeah I-I'm O.K" I replied. A chill settled in my bones. I lent closer to Keith. He seemed to be a walking body heater. "Uh Y/N, what are you doing?" He asked confusion set in his tone "Your warm" Was all I replied.
Lance's POV
Y/N" I knocked on the door. Maybe she's sleeping, I thought. I gently opened the door and looked around the room. Y/N wasn't there. I clenched my fists as my eye began to twitch uncontrollably. "Shiro!" I yelled. Shiro raced in. "What's going on?" He asked. I pointed towards the empty bed, Shiro sighed "Let's go find her".
Keith's POV
My cheeks burnt for some reason as Y/N leaned into me. Her arms snaked around my waist, humming in satisfaction. "Maybe we should go-" Y/N cut me off "N-no". I sighed and felt her forehead. Wich was blazing hot. I shrank back in surprise and yelled loudly. "Y/N your head it's hot!". She shrugged in reply "Can you not shout? my head hurts"
"O.K no we're going back" "L/N's telling me to go back to the castle as well" She grumbled "Then listen to L/N so we can go!, Gosh you are so stubborn sometimes" Y/N rolled her eyes. "Keep rolling your eyes you might find your brain back there" I dryly joked.
A chuckle escaped her lips. I wonder what they would feel like if I put mine on her-. I stopped myself mid-thought as a furious heat spread across my face.

Y/N's POV
As L/N dove us back to the castle, I thought one thing. How am I actually feeling? My head was pounding furiously, contrasting with the relentless chill that caused me to shiver and wince at the rawness of my throat. Keith, on the other hand, was panicking slightly. "Why did I let you go in L/N? Lance is going to slaughter me!" I shrugged "Lance won't find out. And what he doesn't know won't hurt him" I replied. Keith groaned before putting an arm around me and drawing me in closer "Your so lucky were friends". I raised an eyebrow.
"Ooh were on a friend basis are we now. What happened to rivals and all that jazz?"
The corner of Keith's lips tugged upwards. "Well, I do need you as I human shield to protect me from Lance". A giggle escaped my lips as Keith chuckled along with me. "So you're using me? K-Keith t-that's a toxic f-friendship". The smile on Keith's lips faded into a concerned frown. "You're still shivering," He remarked; the frown deepening. "Well- oh were here" We entered the castle, hiding in the shadows and checking the coast was clear every so often. We arrived in the infirmary. Where Lance was waiting for us.
Author's POV
The Cuban turned to Y/N and Keith. His eyes blazed with fury, his nostrils flared. "Where did you go with Y/N Keith you knew she was sick what the heck?!" The red paladin glared softly but stayed quiet.
"Go and don't speak to Y/N from now on."
Keith's glare deepened as he looked at Lance "What why? Lance this is crazy-" "Go" Lance snapped. The red paladin knew there was no arguing with Lance and left, slamming the door loudly.
Lance then turned to his little sister and placed a hand on her forehead. "Y/N your burning up!" He yelped. "B-but I-It's c-cold" You rasped, shivering as a chilling flush flashed through you. Lance led you to an infirmary bed and spooned medicine into your mouth, chuckling as you pulled a face at the sour taste. The blue paladin placed a cold towel on Y/N's head and sighed. "Please don't do this to me ever again" Lance whispered. Y/N nodded as she closed her eyes, waiting for sleep to encase her.
Keith's POV
"Stupid Lance" I muttered kicking my door open and laying on my bed. I closed my eyes but opened them abruptly when I heard laughter. Y/N's. I sighed and closed my eyes, Y/N is actually pretty fun to hang out with at times. Not to mention she's pretty cute. Maybe she isn't so annoying after all.
Y/N's POV
I smiled as the events of the day flooded my thoughts. Well, Keith flooded my thoughts. He can be funny and sweet when he wants to and not to mention he is kinda hot. Maybe he isn't such a jerk after all.
