Elena's POV

I woke up with this throbbing pain in my head when it finally clicked to me that I was kidnapped last night. I start to panic when I spot a guy sleeping in a chair in front of me. I recognise him, he's Ben, the one Bonnie's been talking about. The curtains were closed so I could only assume he's a vampire. That makes him even more dangerous. I have to get out of here.

I look over to the bed beside me and saw Laura sleeping in it soundly. I hopped out of my bed and went over to wake her up. "Laura!" I whispered harshly but was careful not to wake the guy up.

Laura started groaning as she woke. "Mm, Elena, where are we?"

I shushed her to be quiet and point over my shoulder to Ben and she finally caught onto what was happening. I pointed towards the door and she nodded to get the idea, we had to get out of there safely without waking him up.

We held onto each other and slowly walked towards the door being very careful not to make a sound. The door was locked so I carefully tried to unlock the door while Laura keep watch for me. I slowly slide the chain across before moving down to unlock the deadbolt.

"I wouldn't."

I was startled by his voice and turned back to see Ben holding Laura on a chokehold. She was terrified and didn't dare to move.

"No, don't hurt her!" I told him.

He pushed Laura aside and came towards me, he looked into my eyes and tried to compel me. "Don't try to escape. Don't even move. Do you understand?" He said.

His compulsion didn't work because I was on vervain but I can't let him know that. I just have to pretend I'm compelled. "I understand." I said in a monotone.

Ben scoffed with a proud laugh and turned his back to me. As soon as he turned his back on us I grabbed Laura and bolted out the door when a girl appeared. She blocked us from making our escaped and shoved us back into the room.

"Seriously!" She yelled at him. "I told her not to move! I did that eye thing you taught me!" Ben explained to her. "And forgot about the vervain lesson! She dates a vampire. Ben. Duh!" She scold him.

As he explained his failed attempt she pushed Laura into the bathroom while I struggle to get out of her grip. She's strong for someone who's smaller than me. "Who are you? What do you want?" I asked.

"Doesn't matter." She ignored and pushed me into the room.

We were locked in the small bathroom so I switched on the lights and calmly look around to find another exit. "She's the girl who been stalking Jeremy." Laura told me and I looked at her wide eyes.

"She's Anna?" I asked and she nodded.

I let out another sigh of frustration. "Wha-what does she want with us? And what does it have to do with Jeremy?" I asked all these questions that neither of us could answer.

"Oh my god." Laura stared shocked at something behind me. I turned around and found someone lying in the bathtub. Bonnie!

"Bonnie?" I gasped.

I rush over to her and lift her head up placing my fingers on her neck to check her pulse. It was still beating. "Oh my god."

Stefan's POV

I spent the whole night searching for the twins but I had no idea where Anna could have taken them. I called Damon several times for him to help me find them but he wouldn't answer any of my calls. So I hurried back home to find him reading through Emily's grimoire in the library.

"Anna took Elena and Laura." I told him with an anxious look. "Yeah, I got that from your 600 voicemails." He responded with little interest.

"Damon, all night long, every single street in town, I've been searching. What if your blood hasn't passed out of Laura's system?" I express my worry to him but he showed no concern about that for her. "Well, as least I know I'll get to see her again." He smiled with a snark.

I sat down on the couch next to him and looked at him desperately. "Please. What do you know?" I asked him but he ignored me. "You were with Anna, you must know where's she living. Just tell me where I can find them." I plead.

He finally look up from his book to me. "Nope. You can go. Really." He said and went back to the book. I let out an uneasy sigh.

"You know, all I can remember is hating you. There might have been a time when that was different, but your choices have erased anything good about you." I told him honestly. Damon look up from the book and turn his attention to me. "But see, I also know that you have just as much reason to hate me. This all began with me. Katherine got taken away from you because of me. And I'm sorry." I apologised hoping to appeal for his help.

His look softened a little and he smiled at me. "Apology accepted."

"So please, just tell me what you know." I asked him and his face fell. "Huh." He quickly turned away from my request being disappointed that I only apologised to get information out of him. But I had no choice.

"It's Elena and Laura, Damon! If you know something, tell me." I asked him desperately.

Damon closed the book and got up from his chair and I followed him. "I mean this sincerely." He said and I look at him hopeful, anticipating for his answer. "I hope Elena dies. And as for Laura. I hope that becoming a vampire will ruin her forever."

I froze at his words and felt my soul being crushed as he walked away. I was left me there lost and hopeless.

Laura's POV

I rinsed a towel from the sink and gave it to Elena so she could dab it into Bonnie's wound on her forehead. She was still unconscious when she felt the sting and woke up. "Elena? She said sound groggy.

"You're okay." Elena whispered to her.

"My head..." Bonnie said as she felt the pain kick in. Elena pulled her upright. "Come here." Bonnie sat up when she shot her eyes wide. "Oh my god, Ben is a--!"

I silenced her and tap my ear to remind her they could hear us. "They can hear." I mouthed and turned the tap on so the water could distract their vampire hearing.

"I was stupid." Bonnie start to degrade herself for falling for Ben and his cheap charms. "No, he had all of us fooled." Elena comforted her.

"What's going on? Why are we here?" Bonnie asked.

"It must have something to do with the tomb and Emily's spell book." I whispered making her confused because it was the first she's heard of this. "Spell book?"

"Damon said it could be used to open the tomb." I explained to her. "Why didn't I know about any of this?" She asked looking at the both of us. "We were trying to keep you out of it, hoping that it wouldn't come to this." Elena said.

It made Bonnie even more confused. "Come to what?

Elena and I both look at each other uneasy because we didn't want to get Bonnie involved in any of this. "They need a witch to break the spell and let the vampires out." Elena told her.

Bonnie immediately shook her head after realising she's the witch they need to open the tomb. "No way!"

"We know." I told her.

Suddenly the door was kicked wide open making us jump and gasp at the same time. Ben walked in and smirked at us before turning the tap off. Bonnie glared at him with hatred for his lies. "You're wasting your time. I'm not going to help you."

He smiled devilishly at her before grabbing my shoulder and Elena's to scare us. "That's why they're here. Motivation for you to behave. You know, you shouldn't be so desperate. You made it too easy." He mocked her.

Ben pushed Elena towards Bonnie and pulled me to my feet. "She wants to talk to you." He said and pushed me out of the bathroom. I stumbled on my feet when I came to face Anna staring at me. "Well, well. Laura Gilbert."

She was smaller than me but the way she presented herself made me scared. "You really are Katherine's doppelgänger." Anna looked at me carefully. "Which explains why Damon is reeling all over you." She laughed which felt like an insult.

I didn't have to ask what her intentions were for kidnapping us so I went straight to the point. "You're wasting your time, Bonnie's not gonna open the tomb." I faced her bravely. "Oh, I think she will." She said confidently looking out the window.

"Do you really want Katherine out that bad? So far I've heard she's not exactly a likeable person. I'm so sick and tired of hearing her name all the time." I said in frustration. I was literally going to flip because the past few weeks have only been about Katherine.

Anna turned to me. "Trust me. No one I know wants to see that girl again. Except Damon, the lovestruck idiot." She muttered an insult at him.

"Then what is it?" I asked. She looked back at me but doesn't answer. So I figured it must be someone important to her. "Or who is it?"

"My mother's in there." She answered after much hesitation. "Katherine couldn't help herself. She just had to toy around with both of the Salvatore brothers. And when she got caught, so did my mother." She seemed clearly pissed off about the incident. "I watched Jonathan Gilbert take her away."

I was kind of sorry for her but it didn't change the fact she used my brother and kidnapped us here. "I'd say I'm sorry but you're not exactly a good person." I stare at her with displeasure.

Anna only scoffed at me. "I don't need your sympathy. I wasn't looking forward to have the whole dead mom bonding thing so you can start serving your purpose now." She dismissed me.

"Which is what?" I glared at her with a temper. "Leverage." She grabbed a phone and showed it to me. Wait, that's my phone. "This belongs to you?" She smirked and I tried to grab it from her but she pulled away. "Ah-ah!"

I stopped and watched her flick through my contact list and called someone. "They're fine. For now." She answered to who I guess would be Stefan because Damon doesn't care about me. He never did.

"Tell me you have the grimoire and they'll stay fine." Anna looked at me. "Which means your brother has it. And I have the witch. So one of you had better meet me in the very public town square in 30 minutes so we can safely discuss how fun it's going to work together." She smirked and hung up on him.

Anna went over to the bathroom door and knocked. "I'm leaving!"

The door opened and Ben dragged both Elena and Bonnie out, they looked pale and was terrified. "Keep them buttoned down. Compulsion won't work. Just use violence." Anna gave orders to Ben and left us alone with him.

"Sit. Behave." Ben forced us to sit on the bed and we didn't dare to move. He took off his jacket and start to intimidate us. "So you're the key to this. Literally. The one who opens the door." He stared at her as if he wants to eat her. "Tell me how long you've been a witch?" He asked. It was annoying to see him act all cocky now that he was a vampire.

"Is there anything to drink here?" Elena fold her arms getting annoyed with him. Ben sprung up at her question with eager and came towards her. "Are you offering?" She got scared and backed away from him. He smirked and pointed to the nightstand. "There's water over at the nightstand."

Elena grabbed the glass from the stand and was about to drink from it when Bonnie looked at her. "Hey, can I have a sip?" Elena was confused but gave her the glass anyway. Bonnie grabbed it and threw the water at Ben, his arm caught on fire all of a sudden and he screamed.

We saw our chance to run so we made our move, Bonnie was able to make it to the door first but Elena and I weren't so lucky. Ben recovered quickly and caught us. "Come back in! Shut the door!" He demanded.

Bonnie didn't want to leave us alone so she came back inside. "Don't hurt them!"

"Don't make me!" He glared. Bonnie closed the door behind her. "Lock it!" He demanded and she did.

Damon's POV

I overheard Stefan's conversation with Anna earlier so I went to meet her at the town square to see what she has to negotiate. I was waiting for Anna to show up until I saw her walking across the road. She was on her way when she got caught up with the little Gilbert boy. I eavesdrop on their conversation to realise Jeremy has a little crush on her. How sweet.

When he finally left Anna went over to a bench and sat down, I vamped over and sat next to her, she noticed my presence and turned. "Got a hot date or are you just plan on nabbing the entire Gilbert family?" I asked her sarcastically.

"A party, right next to the old cemetery. Isn't that nice of them? Lots of warm bodies to starving vampires." Anna said with a satisfied look on her face.

"I told you. I work alone." I reminded her. "Yeah, so do I. But you're minus a witch and I'm minus a spell book. So what do you say?" She suggested trying to negotiate with me.

"Stefan will come after you, you know that. For messing with Elena." I said but she only smirked. "Stefan's worried about Elena so shouldn't you be worried about Laura?"

I looked away to avoid her seeing through me. "So what's your answer, Damon?" She asked and I turned back to her. "I don't negotiate with anyone for anything."

Anna didn't seem happy with my response and snapped. "Then I guess neither of you would be happy if I kill them." She threatened and I felt my heart panic a little. "Don't try and test me, Damon. I will kill her if you don't give me what I want." She said angrily and got up to leave.

Why should I even care whether she kills Laura or not? She has my blood in her system so I know I'll see her again. But... Every time I face Laura there's something stirring inside of me and I can't get her out of my head.

I scrunched my face and clenched my fist together frustrated. "When do you want to do this?" I called out to Anna before she could walk away.

Can't believe I gave into this so easily.

"God, it's like 1864 again." She turned around and laughed at me. "You Salvatores are truly pathetic when it comes to women." She said much to my annoyance. "Tonight. After sundown. Meet at the church." She gave the instructions and left.

I let out a frustrated sigh.

Laura. What are you doing to me? Why does it have to be you?

Laura's POV

We were still stuck in the motel room being watched over by Ben, all the while he kept his interest on Bonnie like a creep. "Witches don't have eternal life, right? So you guys can die." He asked with a smug look.

From the way he was talking I could tell he was going to kill her after all this was done. I look at her worriedly. "Yep. We can die." Bonnie responded. His smile grew wider. "Ah. That sucks."

Suddenly the door burst open, Stefan came in and drew the curtains back to expose Ben to the sunlight. He screamed at the burns and ran for cover between the beds. Elena was happy to see him rescuing us. "Stefan."

"Let's get outside." He told us and we sprinted out without a second thought.

Stefan drove us straight to Sheila's house because he knew she would be able to protect us there. We allowed time for Bonnie to have a quick chat with her grams before we intruded on them with the situation.

"So what do we do now?" Elena asked. "Well, for now, you guys need to stay here." Stefan said looking at us.

"Prisoners in my own home? I don't think so." Sheila looked at him with a disapproving look to make decisions in her home. "I can't protect you if you leave the house." Stefan reasoned with concern.

"We'll protect ourselves." She said authoritatively.

"We need to let him have Katherine back." Elena suggested looking at Stefan for his opinion. "He's not going to stop until he gets her. If we help him, maybe that ends it." She said but Bonnie looked at her with disagreement. "No. He doesn't deserve to get what he wants." She protested.

"What other choice do we have?" Elena argued. "We all want the same thing; we all want Damon out of our lives. If we give him Katherine then everything will be okay." She said hopefully.

"How can you be so sure?" I looked at her. "We both heard stories about Katherine and she's an awful person. If we let those two be together who knows that will happen to us. Elena, you've seen what Damon's capable of, everything he's done was to get her back. He's reckless and selfish." I argued with disdain.

I don't want Katherine to get out of that tomb, she can rot in there for all I care. I don't want to see Damon holding onto someone who looks exactly like me, or who I look like.

"Witches being pulled down by vampire problems. As much as we try to do to stay out of it." Sheila spoke up after observing and looked at us. "I'll open the tomb. You get your brother's girl and destroy the rest with fire. Then this will be all over." She said to Stefan.

My heart sank when she agreed to open the tomb, because I don't want it to be open more than anyone else.

Stefan thought about it carefully whether or not to help Damon. "We still have to get Damon to agree." He said looking unsure. "He already agreed once." Elena said.

"Yeah, and then we doubled crossed him. So now he's angry." He said a bit worried about the plan. "He's hurt. There's a difference." Elena corrected.

I was sitting quietly to myself with this irritated feeling. This was absurd. Damon made our lives miserable and now he gets to have what he wants. Life is cruel.

I was thinking to myself when Elena interrupted me. "Laura, you go talk to him." She looked at me. I frown at her deeply. "Why? I don't want that tomb open." I protested.

"We don't have a choice here. It's just like you said; Damon's reckless and he won't stop until he gets what he wants, people could die." She looked at me sternly so I had no choice but to do as she said.

"Fine. I'll talk to him."

Damon's POV

I grabbed my favourite leather jacket and wore it on getting ready to leave when I sensed someone coming into the room. I looked up and saw...Laua? She's escaped? I was glad to see she was safe but I acted as though it didn't surprise me.

"I'm gonna have to change the locks. You staged a jailbreak?" I said sarcastically picking up the grimoire.

"Well, it seems like Stefan did a way better job at rescuing than you." She looked me cynically. She was angry for a number of reasons I could only make make a list for. But I was a bit hurt her words but brushed it off like I didn't care. "Ah, brother. Ever the white knight." I said sounding a bit jealous of him.

Laura didn't seem at impressed by my lack of reaction and kept a straight face. "Elena convinced Bonnie to help you." She said.

I look at her a bit suspicious then smirked. "I doubt that. She has no reason to help me." I said. There's no way that little witch would agree to help me. She hates me for a fact, I know.

She sighed. "She's only helping if it means you leave us alone."

Well, that would make sense.

"Well, she's becoming smart. And what about you?" I looked at her and she had this small laugh. "I'm not gonna say I'm sorry that we got the grimoire without you last night. Because I'm not really sorry." She said with a straight face.

It didn't come as a surprise to me when she said that but still... I was hurt when she betrayed me. "Well, at least you're honest." I muttered.

Laura looked at me when she scoffed and shook her head at me. "Look, Damon, I know you're hurt because I lied to you, but that doesn't compare to how you lied to me." She said.

"What did you lie to you about?" I asked.

"Katherine."

I went quiet and looked away. "I'm not sorry for wanting what I want. I don't want you to get her out because I don't want you to leave." She said. Her confession struck me by surprise and I looked at her. "I was protecting the people that I love, Damon. And so were you, in your own, twisted way."

"Not interested." I said and turned my back on her.

"Yes you are, because you were willing to work with us yesterday." Laura stopped me and I turned back. "Fool me once, shame on you."

She huffed at my stubbornness. "Okay, when we were in Atlanta, why didn't you use your compulsion on me?" She asked. I place the grimoire on the table and went up to her. "Who's to say I didn't?" I test her.

"You didn't." She said surely.

I gave her a look to deter her and she did hesitant for a second before coming on strong again. "I know you didn't. But you could have. You and I... we have something." Laura looked at me with soft eyes as she closed the distance between us. "I know that my betrayal hurt you, different from how it is with you and Stefan, but I'm promising you this now, I will help you get Katherine back." She said.

The more she tried to convince me the more confused I was getting because of her mood swings. "And why would you do that? Not a minute ago you just said you didn't want her out."

"Yes, but... I, at least, want you to be happy." Laura said quietly. I was taken back and stared at her stunned. "When you love someone you'd want them to be happy, even if it means you don't get to be happy yourself." Her wet eyes showed sadness and hurt as she looked at me.

Just watching the way she looked at me made my heart ache somehow. I tried to see through her but she was more difficult to understand than I originally thought.

No, she's probably trying to trick me again.

I snap out of my thoughts and look at her suspiciously. "How do I know you are not lying to me?" I question her.

Laura breathed heavily before pulling up her sleeve to show me the bracelet Stefan gave her. She took it off and placed it on the table. "Ask me if I'm lying now." She said confidently.

I stare back and forth at her and the bracelet. She's serious. But I was still wasn't convinced. "How do I know you didn't drink vervain before coming here?" I tilt my head and she scoffed angrily. "Seriously Damon!" She exclaimed.

I gave her a smug look and she shook her head. "Fine, I lied to you and I'm sorry! But I'm not sorry that I love you!" She declared loudly. I was once again taken back by another one of her confessions and stared at her surprised.

Laura pulled back her hair and revealed her neck to me. "See for yourself if I'm on vervain or not." She said.

I wavered at the sight of her neck being exposed to me and heard the loud pounding of her heart beating. The temptation was calling out to me. I lowered my head towards her neck and breathed in her scent.

Her blood. I want it. I grabbed her arms and she flinched.

No, I have to control myself.

I pulled myself together and moved myself away from her. "I trust you." I stared into her eyes and picked up her bracelet. "Don't make me regret this." I said clip her bracelet back on.

She nodded quietly and I quickly left the room.

~ ~ ~ Nightfall ~ ~ ~

Laura's POV

Damon drove me to the old church to meet everyone there but when we got to the woods there were over a dozen students gathered here. "Oh my god, I totally forgot it was the Duke party tonight." I said amazed at the turn up.

I was just bummed I was missing out on it because of this. I just hope none of them stray from this area and move towards the old church. "I hope they stay clear of the church." I said to myself.

"Your hope, not mine." Damon said carelessly and I look at him.

"Laura, hey!" We were walking when Matt and Caroline came up to us holding hands. I see they're finally a couple now. "Laura! Oh my god, where have you been?" Caroline asked.

"Long story, no time to tell it." Damon answered for me, he wasn't even acknowledging their presence. "I wasn't talking to you." Caroline glared at him.

"Sure you were." He said ignorantly.

"We haven't met. I'm Matt." Matt introduced himself and extend his hand for a handshake but Damon showed little interested in him. "Matt, there's a reason we haven't met." He dismissed him rudely and grabbed me.

"You and I are going that way." He start to drag me away from them, I look back at them apologetically. "Ah, I'm sorry, guys."

We walked away from the crowd and head towards the old church where everyone was waiting for us. Damon whistled to announce our arrival. "Brother. Witches. Twin." Damon said with no interest in them and went down to the tomb first.

Stefan turned to me and asked. "Everything okay?"

No, everything's not okay.

I sighed heavily. "I'm fine. Let's get this over and done with." I said and everyone nodded in in union. I turned to Bonnie and her grams. "Are we ready?"

"I guess so." She responded nervously.

Stefan led them down first and I was going to go down after them when Elena tapped my arm. "Are you sure you're okay?" She asked concerned. I know she's just concerned for me but I really didn't want to have the talk with her so I avoided the question. "I'm tired, Elena. I just want this night to be over." I told her before going down with everyone.

Bonnie and her grams drew the pentagram on the ground as we watched from the side. Sheila lit the torches as she went through each of the elements and Bonnie gave her a bottled water to sprinkle over the ground.

"That's it? Just water from the tap?" Elena said. She unintentionally mocking their witch magic in a curious way and I nudged her with my elbow telling her to be polite.

"As oppose to what?" Sheila looked at her.

"I just figured maybe it would have to be blessed or mystical or something." She said naively. Sheila just smiled at her.

I noticed Damon pulling out something from his pocket and looked at him. "What's that?" I asked. "It's for Katherine." He replied. It was a blood bag.

"Gotta have something to get her going. Unless you're willing offer up your vein to tap." He smirked at me. I glare at him unamused and looked away.

Damon turned to his brother and whispered in his ear. "Admit it, you can't wait to get rid of me." Stefan shake his head at him. "I can't wait to get rid of you." He said, Damon just smirked widely at him.

Watching him get all excited to getting Katherine back with slowly ripping a piece my heart out bit by bit. It was painful. It was painful to watch him but I don't let it show on my face.

"We're ready." Bonnie announced and we turned our attentions to them.

Bonnie and her grams held each other's hands and began to recite the spell, they were speaking in another language none of us could follow. "What are they saying?" Damon asked.

"Sounds Latin." Stefan commented. "I don't think it's Latin." Elena said before I shushed them to be quiet.

They kept chanting the spell over and over again for a few more minutes when the torches flared up. I was startled and stood behind Damon while Elena grabbed onto Stefan. "What's happening?" She asked getting creeped out.

Suddenly the tomb behind us opened with a loud creak. "It worked." Bonnie said looking surprised. "Of course it worked." Sheila said.

Damon turned to Stefan. "We have some fire to build." Stefan looked at us. "I'm gonna go get the gasoline, I'll be right back." He said and went outside.

I stared inside the dark tomb and shuddered when I felt the cool breeze escaping. Inside were a bunch of starved vampires and one of them were Katherine. Damon's just one step away from getting to her.

"You ready?" Damon turned to me. I look at him confused. "What?"

He looked at Bonnie and her grams suspiciously. "You think I'm gonna go in there by myself so you can seal me in?" He grabbed my arm and pulled me into his chest.

"You're not taking her with you." Elena was the first to protest.

"Don't take her in. I'll bring the walls down." Sheila threatened. "You'll bring the walls down if I don't. You think I trust you?" He glared at her.

"As much as I trust you." She glared back.

"It's okay Sheila. I'll be fine." I assured her and cut into their bickering. "What? No. Laura, I'm not going letting you go in there with him." Elena protested like the worrywart she is.

"He needs leverage. He needs to know that you're not going to close the door when he gets inside." I turned to him. "I'll go." I said and he smirked.

I turned back to my sister and reassured me. "I promise you I'll be fine. Elena."

"May I?" Damon grabbed the torch without waiting for their response and went in first. I nod to let them know I'll be okay before following him into the tomb with my flashlight.

Once I got inside I felt sick. I couldn't see anything properly and I didn't know where I was stepping. It was dark and cold, and I was scared.

I stuck close to Damon to have a sense of security but I know he'll abandon me minute the finds Katherine. There was a strange noise and I jumped in fright. "What is that?" I asked trembling.

"They can sense you." Damon whispered making me creeped out so I slapped him on the back. "Don't say that." He sniggered at me and kept walking. I was trembling in fear, I wanted to get out of there.

"Now, where is she?" He said before disappearing somewhere and left me behind. "Damon!" I called him but he was already gone.

I flashed the light around, he really did leave me alone. It made me feel uneasy and I started panic. I tried to stay calm because I didn't want to attract the vampires with my fear and kept moving.

"Damon? Damon?!" I whispered loudly.

He wasn't responding which made me even more uneasy. I wanted to cry because I've never freaked out this much in my life before. "Damon!"

The noise came back and startled me, I was so scared I tripped over something and fell. I quickly got back up and I shone the light around. The beam landed on mummified vampire in the corner and I freaked out.

I tried to run when I found another vampire, and more of them lying around the room. Their eyes were bloodshot hungry just staring at me. I was in a lion's den. I was terrified and tripped over again but this time I tripped over a body. The flashed the beam on them and the vampire opened their bloodshot eyes freaking me out.

I screamed and moved away from them. I couldn't stand being in there any longer and stumbled my way towards the exit when I came to face Anna blocking my path.

Stefan's POV

After I killed Ben with fire I rushed back to down the tomb to see everyone but Damon and Laura. Elena was pacing around biting her fingernails with extreme worry. "Where's Laura?" I asked.

Elena came over to me. "Damon took her inside with him." She told me. "What?!" I stared at the tomb. "Stefan, do something." She wailed in my arm.

I ran towards the door when Sheila grabbed me. "Stefan! If you go in there, you won't come out." She said.

"What did you do?" I look them confused. "Opening the door didn't remove the seal, it just opened the door." She simply explained.

"What's the seal?" Elena asked from my side. "Some seals keep vampires from entering. This one keeps them from coming out." Sheila explained.

Elena was confused by her simple explanation but I was able to understand her. "Laura's human. She can leave. Anna and Katherine can't. Damon can't." I said and she smirked. Now I understand why she agreed to this so easily. "You were never planning on breaking the spell, were you?"

"I told you. I will protect my own." Sheila said and stepped back. "Laura can get out. That's all that matters."

Even though Elena and I were relieved that Laura could get out safely, we couldn't get past the worry since she's in a tomb filled with vampires. We waited around outside for her to come out when I heard Laura scream.

I didn't think twice and ran inside past the seal. "Stefan!" Elena shouted after me but I was long gone.

I ran towards her voice and found Laura being held down by Anna who was feeding her wrist to her mother. "Let her go!" I shoved her away and pulled Laura up.

"Go. Go. I'm right behind you." I told her and she ran without looking back.

Laura's POV

I was trying to escape when Anna blocked my path and trapped me in a room surrounded by hungry vampires. She looked at me with a devious look. "You must have a taste for it. You scream and shriek and even bother to escape, but then you just come right back to it."

I stepped back and bumped into the vampire I fell into. Anna sees the vampire at my feet and ran over to her. "Mother! Mother." She kneeled down next to her.

I stare at them curiously. So she's her mother. The one she wants to get out.

Anna glared at me. "You're sister's boyfriend did this, you know." She said. "He's father did." I corrected her which probably wasn't the smartest move.

She got back up and intimidated me. "And Jonathan Gilbert. I made a choice a long time ago that it would be Gilbert blood that brought her to life. I had Jeremy all ready to go but..." She said.

"You dare touch my brother I will--"

"I know. But since you're here..." She smirked.

I realised what she was intending to do and tried to escape when Anna vamped in front to block my path again. She grabbed my wrist and bit me, I shrieked in pain before she pushed me down over her mother's lap and fed her my blood.

"No, please!" I screamed.

"Let her go!"

Stefan came to my rescue and pulled me away from them. "Go. Go. I'm right behind you." He said and I ran.

I ran as fast as I could out of there without even looking back. I made it out of the tomb all huffed and puffed, Elena came up to me and pulled me into her arms. "Oh my god, Laura."

I was still trembling from the trauma and hugged her back to feel safe again. "See, I told you I would be fine." I lied and breathed slowly to calm my fears. I pulled away from her. "Stefan's right behind me." I told her but her reaction was a little odd.

"What's wrong?" I asked but she doesn't answer.

I look at Bonnie and her grams, they had the same look as my sister. I turned around and saw Stefan just standing behind the door. I walk up to him. "Stefan, what are you doing? Come out of there." I told him.

"It's gonna be okay." I turned back to Bonnie holding the grimoire in her hands. "We'll fix it." She said but I was confused at what happened.

"What's going on?" I asked.

I looked at Elena then at Stefan. "I can't get out, Laura." He said looking down at the ground. "What do you mean you can't get out?" I look at him confused.

"This seals keeps vampires from getting out." Elena explained beside me and I shot my eyes grew wide at him. "You knew? You went in even though you knew you can't get out?" I looked at near to tears.

He doesn't answer me and looked down. "Oh my god. This is my fault." I start to breath in panic mode.

"No. It's not your fault, Laura." Stefan told me. "I had to. You were in danger. I would have done the same thing for Elena." He said trying to make me feel better.

Wait, if Stefan can't get out that means Damon can't get out either.

"Damon, we can't leave him in there. I promised I'd help him." I said when I realised it. "I know. I'll find him." Stefan said and went back into the tomb.

I turned to Elena with a worried look, she put her hand on my back telling me everything was going to be okay. But she also couldn't hide the worry in her eyes either.

Third Person's POV

Stefan found his brother searching for Katherine in the deepest part of the tomb. Damon had left Laura to go find her on his own but he hasn't been able to find her. "She's not here." He kicked the dirt in frustration.

"Damon." Stefan called him but he was ignored.

Damon pulled out the blood bag and clenched in his hands. "She's not here." He said again in despair. Stefan looked at him confused. "What?"

"She's not here!!" Damon yelled angrily and threw the blood bag at the wall and the blood splattered across it. He turned to his brother with anguish.

Outside Bonnie and Sheila were reciting another spell to lift the seal long enough for them to get out. Elena and Laura was getting worried and paced back and forth in different directions. Every now and then they would look inside the tomb hoping the boys would come out.

Suddenly the torches flared up again and the girls turned towards the tomb. "I think it's working." Laura said hopefully.

They waited by the door when they heard footsteps coming out from the tomb. Unfortunately it wasn't the Salvatore brothers and Katherine. It was Anna and her weak mother. "I just wanted my mother back." Anna said when Laura glared at them. "Jeremy's fine. He's outside. We won't touch him." She said and assisted her mother out.

The fire went dim threatening to burn out, Bonnie and her grams were struggling to withhold the pressure. "Bonnie, keep going." Sheila told her and turned to the twins. "They better hurry."

"Stefan, they can't hold it much longer!" Elena yelled into the tomb but there was no answer from him.

One of the fires burned out completely, Bonnie was faint and Sheila was growing pale but continued to keep the seal up. Elena and Laura looked at each other extremely worried before deciding to run into the tomb together.

Stefan was still trying to convince his brother to leave with him but Damon refused to move. "Damon, we need to get out of here." Stefan told him but Damon was still in shock to listen. "It doesn't make sense. They locked her inside." He muttered to himself.

"If we don't leave now, we're not getting out!" Stefan urged his brother to listen. "How could she not be in here?" He continue to talk to himself.

"It's not worth spending all of eternity down here. She's not worth it!" Stefan grabbed him but Damon shoved him away angrily. "No!" He growled.

"Damon!"

Laura ran inside with Elena behind her. The flashlight beam landed on her and Damon finally calmed down after seeing her face.

Katherine. He thought.

"Please." She pleaded. He soften at her voice and finally went with them.

They hurried outside of the tomb in time before the last torch burned out. Bonnie and Sheila were able to rest, Stefan and Elena embraced each other after being relieved. Damon was in despair and went out of the tomb.

Laura's POV

I was worried about Damon so I chased after him. He was miserable and in despairs when he couldn't find Katherine in the tomb he thought she was in. "Damon, wait!" I called out to him.

"Go away." He said miserably with his back to me.

I couldn't leave him even if he wanted me to. He was completely devastated at the lie he believed in all these years.

I slowly went up behind him. "Damon, talk to me." I said but he doesn't say anything or even look at me. "I'm sorry you didn't find her tonight. I know you must be disappointed after all these years but..."

"You must be loving this." Damon finally spoke and looked at me. "You must be enjoying to see how I feel right now. This is what you wanted, isn't it?" He looked at me angrily. "You didn't want me to get Katherine out, well guess what! She was never in there!"

I watched at him quietly as he breaks down. I've never seen Damon like this. He's never yelled at me before. He was hurting, and he didn't know how to deal with it so he's taking it out on me. Normally I would fire back with some remark but I didn't, my heart was aching to see him like this.

I slowly went up to him and grabbed his hand, he doesn't react to my touch and just stared at me with a broken look. I look into his eyes to show him how sincere I was and that I cared about him.

I wrapped my arms around him and whispered in his ear. "I'm sorry."

He doesn't say anything.

After a while Damon and I sat on boulder in silence, we've been sitting here for a while because I was afraid to leave him alone. I was scared what he'd do to himself so I watched him quietly.

"You should go home." He finally spoke up.

"Will you be okay?" I asked looking for his reaction but it remained the same. He doesn't say anything else and got up to walk away.

I stand up with him and watched him go when he stopped and slowly turned back. "Do you know what I was feeling tonight when I thought I was going to get her back?" He asked.

I didn't want to know but I wanted Damon to talk to me so I answered him. "No." I said quietly.

"Happy. I thought I was finally going to be happy for the first time since 1864." He said and I look at him sadly. "I thought I could finally be with the person I love and walk the earth with her. But today... it was the greatest disappointment in my entire life."

My heart was aching. I was hurt to know how important Katherine was to him. No matter what I do for him. It wasn't enough.

"I'll leave now." Damon said and I looked at him shocked. "Katherine was never in that tomb. There's no reason for me to stay here anymore." He started to leave again.

"No." I grabbed him from leaving. "Damon, you don't have to leave, you can start over." I told him. "There's no reason for me to stay." He said in despair.

"There is. You have me." I said with my voice breaking.

Damon stared at me in silence, taking in every feature of me. He gazed into my eyes and caressed my cheek. "I can't." He said and my face fell. "If I stay, I'll only hurt you. And I don't want to hurt you anymore than I already have."

I stare at him heartbroken as he moved away from and walked away. I watched him leave with my heart in despair. Tears was coming out and not stopping.

~ ~ ~

Elena wanted to stay with Bonnie and her grams because she was worried after seeing how exhausted they were after tonight. So Stefan drove me home and I was quiet the entire ride. He walked me up to the front door when I turned to him. "Thanks for taking me home." I told him forcing a smile to show him that I was fine.

"Laura, I can stay with you if you want." He said looking concerned about me. I just smiled at him. "I'm fine." I said quietly. But he didn't look convinced and didn't move. "Seriously, I'm fine, Stefan. Damon's the one you should be worried about." I told him.

"Go home to him."

Stefan thought for a moment before nodded. "Okay, call me if you need anything." He said and I nodded. I watched him go and went inside, I leaned against the door and breathed a heavy sigh.

Jenna was in the kitchen doing some paper works when she heard me."Hey, how was the party?" She asked think Elena and I were out for the Duke party. "Same as every other wasted party. Nothing special." I answered her lazily and went straight up to my room.

I was tired after tonight and slumped over my bed. I tried to fall asleep but my mind was filled with Damon. I couldn't get him out of my mind.

I didn't want him to leave.

I want him to stay. Please.
