Acting: Monologue
*Bell rings*
"Good Jake but remember to show facial expressions as well it's a monologue doesn't mean your face should be monotone," the teacher said "Remember it's not just the voice but your face and body as well, if your mad have a frown and cross your arms, if happy be open and smile widely"
"And there it is," Bailey said to herself
"Alright see you next week" the teacher dismissed
Hallway
"Hey, Josh!" Bailey said happening to catch Josh at his locker before going to lunch
"Hey, Bailey how was class?" Josh said
"Alright but I think I figured out my bad feeling from before," Bailey said as she whispered into Josh's ear "My smile!"
"Bailey..." Josh said as this was not the first he hears of it
"I know I know but I can't help but be self-conscious about it," Bailey said
"Bailey your smile is fine, great even, you don't have anything to worry about, no one even cares about your smile," Josh said
"Says Mr. perfect smile" Bailey said
"Not true and I'm right no one says anything about a bad smile because it doesn't exist so stop worrying," Josh said "Why don't you just talk to Ken about this? I know Sean and Charlize aren't aware"
"I haven't told Kenny about my crooked smile," Bailey said
"I'm pretty sure he already knows, it's hard to miss" Josh joked as Bailey hit him "I'm kidding but seriously your smile is fine, okay?"
"... Don't tell Kenny or the others" Bailey said
Lunch
"You know what you two should do?" Charlize said to Kenneth and Sean as they wait for Bailey and Josh
"What?"
"Sing a duet!" Charlize said
"What?"
"Sean doesn't want to sing but if he does it with you he might be more willing," Charlize said "And Kenny you don't have a song yet so Sean here can help you with that at least with the instrumental part of it"
"I'm down," Kenneth said being okay with it "It's not like this would be the only Friday Night Jam I can go solo another time"
"Nah," Sean said
"Don't be like that, it'll be fun and cool you don't hear from too many male singers at this school," Charlize said
"Whatcha talking about?" Bailey said as she and Josh arrived
"Hey Beautiful," Kenneth said kissing her cheek "Charlize suggested me and Sean do a duet but Sean said no"
"Sean!" Bailey said
"Come on dude," Josh said
"No!" Sean said
"But I've never heard you sing!" Bailey said
"You haven't?!" Kenneth said as the others nodded "I mean I know I haven't but Bai too?"
"I grew up with him so I heard before school here," Charlize said "But not often"
"And I overheard him when I was hanging out at his house one day with Julian," Josh said "But yeah never at school and nothing serious"
"The same Julian you're battling today?" Kenneth said
"Yeah and oh shit!" Josh said
"He forgot!" Sean laughed
"I thought you wanted to win that date with me?" Charlize said
"Yes I forgot, and also when did I say that?" Josh said "Anyways we're focusing on Sean"
"Yeah what gives Sean?! We went through all that trouble of making it okay for students to be versatile and perform freely and you won't even try it" Bailey said
"How about this you don't have to do it today as I'm apparently already doing one tonight but next week you and Ken should do it," Josh said
"Yeah we all might as well do something each week as outside of Kenneth here we haven't done one at all this semester, we got to keep making our mark," Charlize said, "Please Sean!"
"Fine" Sean gave in
"Yes!" The table cheered
"So how was class, Bai? You got out a little late so I didn't see you at our meeting spot" Kenneth said
"It was fine how was yours?" Bailey asked
"It's kicking my throat," Kenneth said
"Kicking your throat?" Charlize said
"Like kicking my butt but it's my throat," Kenneth said, "I never knew how much goes into vocal training!"
"What did you expect?! To just walk in and the next day be perfect?" Bailey said
"Yes!" Kenneth said as Bailey laughed
"Josh" Sean whispered, "Why are you staring at Bailey?!"
"I was?" Josh said snapping out of it
"You were, if it wasn't for them being in their own world they would have noticed," Sean said "What's up? Jealous? Crushing on her again?! Tell me!"
"No no, and it's none of your business!" Josh said back
"What are you whispering about?" Charlize whispered to Sean
"Josh is crushing on Bailey and is jealous," Sean said back
"No way!" Charlize said as the bell ringed "That explains why he doesn't want to win that date with me!"
"Makes sense," Sean said as they all start to head to class
Dance: Jazz Funk
Brian Friedman, Charlize's favorite was teaching
And the class was going so well they finished early and had some talking time before the next class
"Ah I got my favorite today and I get to watch a battle over me today !" Charlize said
"This really is your day," Bailey said amused at her best friend "Even convinced Sean to sing with Kenny"
"Everything is going my way!" Charlize said
"You should have convinced Sean to date you with all the luck you're having" Bailey whispered so the boys wouldn't hear
"Damn..." Charlize said thinking it over "Oh well I'm going to be going in a date soon anyways"
"Speaking of who do you want to win? Julian or Josh?" Bailey said
"I don't know, I'll tell you tonight," Charlize said
"So for the song I was thinking something more low-key as from what I hear your voice is more suited for that" Kenneth said
"Sure," Sean said
"So do you want to write it with me or just hand it off to Josh?" Kenneth said
"We can write it besides aren't you making something for one of your friends?" Sean said
"Yeah and I'm trying not to hand out songs too much anymore," Josh said
"Trying to get paid," Sean said
"No just want to focus more on quality over quantity," Josh said
*Bell rings*
"One more class then your battle are you ready?" Kenneth asked
"Nope!" Josh said with a smile as Kenneth and Sean laughed at the honesty
Dance: Hip hop
Matt Steffanina was back
"Class is so fun!" Bailey said
"Yeah it wasn't bad," Sean said "I'm going to run to the bathroom be right back"
"Kay, and yeah it was a fun one today a good way to round out Friday," Charlize said
"Alright I want a trio so let me have... Sean, Josh, and Kenneth" Matt said
"Sean went to the bathroom," Charlize told Matt
"Okay then instead of Sean... Julian" Matt said
"Kill it, babe," Bailey said hugging Kenneth before he goes to the center "Don't you want to to do the same, Char Char?" She teased "Oh wait which one?"
"Haha" Charlize sarcastically laughed
"I'm back and... Interesting group" Sean said as the boys got in formation
"Yep my boo and Charlize's boos," Bailey said as Charlize rolled her eyes
"Awesome job you three" Sean said as all three boys came over
"Thanks, bro," Julian said as he and Sean did their handshake
"I was alright," Kenneth said
"More than alright," Bailey said pecking his cheek as he holds her
"Fine more than alright," Kenneth said making him grin at her which made her give her small smile back
"Cute!" Charlize said at Kenneth and Bailey
"Oh out of curiosity who did better Char, Josh or Julian?" Bailey said continuing her teasing from earlier
"Nah Julian did," Josh said
"All you bro," Julian said as they drifted into their conversation
"Bromance," Kenneth said "Kinda jealous"
"Yeah they're close if it wasn't for Julian's girlfriend last year he would be sitting at our lunch table and after they broke up he was friends with her friends so he stayed there," Sean said
"Wow you're coming in between two friends," Kenneth said to Charlize
"Shut up Kenneth," Charlize said
Friday Night Jam
"You decide?" Sean asked Charlize "The battle is just a formality you can decide whatever you want"
"I'll probably pick Julian, Josh's resurgence of his crush on Bailey will be awkward," Charlize said whispering the last part
"Not going to try and persuade him to like you" Sean joked
"I don't like Josh like that" Charlize said
"Like that? So you like him?" Bailey said as she and Kenneth joined "We got two more minutes"
"No just no longer disgusted by him," Charlize said as despite their bickering sometimes they were close friends so the idea of them dating didn't seem foreign to her
"That was so sweet I'll make sure to tell Josh that you said that," Kenneth said
"Whatever it's starting," Charlize said
"Alright tonight we have a treat, as we don't get these often but tonight we have a dance battle between two sophomores and have our faculty to be judges for this special occasion," the host Anneston said as people showed their excitement
"People seem excited" Sean commented
"If you don't know the battles are judged on four criteria, musicality, character, style, and crowd appeal," Anneston said
"What?" Kenneth said
"Musicality you already know, character is their personality and how that is conveyed through their movement, are they clowning the other? are they being aggressive? etcetera" Bailey said "Style is how they execute their style, there isn't one style that is automatically better than another like a breakdancer won't beat a popper just because they're a breakdancer"
"And crowd appeal is how the crowd likes them," Kenneth said "Makes sense"
"Julian wins the coin toss and decides to go first himself, and now we have Charlize Glass to pick the song," Anneston said
"When you go first you get the benefit of the doubt of hearing the song first so you're not as prepared as the next person who's been listening to the song for a little bit," Sean said more for Kenneth's clarification "But the second person is more prepared so that can be in their favor as well"
"Alright since I know these boys so well I've decided to pick a song I know they haven't heard before, Schoolboy Q - Collard Greens," Charlize said as she left the stage
"Alright a minute each, 5,6,7,8!" Anneston said
"Yeah that might be the hardest decision of my life" Sean commented of how evenly matched Julian and Josh seemed
"How were they both soooo good?" Kenneth said
"It could go either way," Bailey said
"Well that's up to the judges now," Charlize said
Anneston was handed a sheet with the results on it "Alright the judges have spoken and for Musicality... Julian!" Anneston said "For Character... Julian!"
"Two for him one more and he wins," Kenneth said
"For Style... it was close but Josh!" Anneston said "And for crowd appeal... Josh! Oh wow, we have a tie!"
Julian and Josh looked towards each other and shrugged as they didn't know how to react, there were murmurs in the crowd some of them were of confusion, some were more biased towards either Josh or Julian, and some wanting an actual winner
"No worries folks we have a split decision maker! The person who picked the song and from my knowledge responsible for this battle Ms. Charlize Glass!" Anneston announced
"Oh fuck," Charlize said as Bailey was laughing to herself
"Good luck," Sean said as Charlize started to walk off
Charlize made her way on stage and Anneston put her in the middle between the two boys holding each of their hands
"When the drum roll ends Charlize will raise one of the boy's hands and that will be the winner!" Anneston said as everyone understood "Drum roll!"
"No hard feelings?" Julian said more to Josh
"None at all" Josh said back
"And the winner is..."

(A lot of focus on Charlize but it's more just setting things up for the future and the story arcs have different main characters meaning the others will have different supporting roles and will have their own stuff going on too)
