Lisa's POV:
Maaga akong umalis sa bahay at inabangan si Jennie sa labas ng bahay nila. Our English Lit class starts at around 7 A.M. karaniwang nauuna ang mga kaklase ko sakin, I was always either 15 - 30 minutes late for this class, dahil sinasadya kong umalis ng late sa bahay. But this instance, I am ready to show Miss Jandel that I could make it early especially after she has given me a chance to fix my grades. I did badly on the prelims and if it wasn't for Miss Jandel's offer yesterday, I won't be early. I have already told my two best friends that I was flunking English Lit and my professor stroke a deal for me to have Jennie as my tutor. Naiintindihan naman nila na mahuhuli ako sa practice. They shot a video of me on my solo yesterday for them to play at the projector screen para alam nila kung anong parte sila mahahawi at kung gaano katagal ang solo dance ko. I pulled up at Jennie's place around 6 a.m. and waited for her as I reviewed for English Lit.
I sent her a good morning text bago ako umalis ng bahay kaninang 5:55 a.m. to weather out if she would still be here or not. She replied and said she was having breakfast at in 10 minutes lalabas na siya ng bahay para pumasok sa school. Hindi nagtagal, kinatok ni Jennie ang bintana ng sasakyan ko na ikinagulat ko dahil nga busy ako mag-basa ng reviewer nya. I unlocked the door and she opened the door.
"Anong ginagawa mo dito? Bakit hindi ka dumirecho na sa school?" She asked me.
"Bawi ko sayo para sa nangyari kahapon, susunduin kita at isasabay papasok." I said smiling.
"Tyaga din ha? Anong nakain mo at ang aga mo yatang nagising?" She asked me as she alighted my car and strapped herself in.
"Maaga talaga akong nagigising. Sinasadya kong magpalate sa klase, nabobore kasi ako sa subject na yun. Pero dahil nga binigyan ako ni Miss Jandel ng last shot to fix myself, ayaw ko namang malate." I said smiling at her.
"Ayun naman pala eh, concerned din sa grades nya, inantay pang patutoran siya ng professor." She said rolling her eyes.
"Hey, hindi ko inantay no. I was hoping she would flunk me, tas ayun biglang tinakot nya ako na ipapatanggal nya ako sa Hiphop crew ko, kaya eto napilitan akong mag-bagong buhay for a change." I said laughing at her.
"I like the changes you made, pero tignan natin hanggang saan to baka mamaya isang linggo ka lang ganito tas the rest of the 2 months na nalalabi sa sem natin eh papalya ka nanaman." She said.
"Thank you." I said smiling as I pulled out of her drive way at nag-maneho na papunta sa school.
"Ready ka na ba for the upcoming quiz?" Jennie asked me as we reached the stop light.
"Yes, ready na. Salamat sa tutor kong pagka-bait-bait." I said to her.
"Sus! bolera talaga. Show me what you got. Hindi puro salita ka." She said to me.
"Ganito na lang, if I ace this quiz, papayag kang lumabas tayo this coming Saturday. My treat. Pag lagpak pa din ako, alipin mo ako for the following week. Ano deal?"
I extended my hand for a shake, she took it and said.
"Deal. Ace as in perfect score ha?" She said smiling.
"Oo, ACE as in perfect score." I said smiling back at her.
"Sinabi mo yan ha? Sige, sige. Tignan natin mamaya." She said.
I continued driving to school, I see her from the corner of my eye. Ewan ko ba pero mas maganda siya ngayon kumpara kahapon which made me wonder what happened to her yesterday. Mukha kasi siyang frustrated kahapon kumpara ngayon na parang walang magiging problema ang araw nya today. Then it hit me right then and there mukha siyang haggard dahil isang oras ko siya pinaghintay. Oh Goodness, kung ako siguro yun sasampalin ko siguro yung taong nagpapahintay. Aysh! Lisa! Lisa! Ano ba kasing iniisip mo kahapon at naka-limutan mo si Jennie my mind berated me.
To be honest, I just wasn't thinking yesterday kaya ganun ang nangyari, naging abala ako sa pag-iisip ng solo choreo ko. Iyon lang ang tumatakbo sa isipan ko buong araw kahapon. Paano ko pagagandahin ang choreo ko at ano pa ba ang kulang. This made me forget to text Jennie and let her know kung nasaan ako. She was wearing a black tube top na pinatungan nya ng blazer at naka-jeans at high heels ito. She's fashionable and beautiful, today her beauty was more pronounced than it was yesterday. Siguro dahil nasurpresa sya na nasa labas ako ng bahay nila at sinusundo siya o baka kasi sadyang stressed out sya sa akin kahapon.
"I love what you're wearing today. Maporma ka talaga eh noh? Kahapon naka-skirt ka and now this." I said to her totally impressed.
"Thank you. you don't look bad yourself." She said smiling.
T-Shirt, Jeans and a light wind breaker jacket at snapback cap lang naman ang suot ko, paired with my favorite Adidas Nite Jogger Black and Cyan Colorway shoes.
"Kahit na naka jeans lang ako. Bolera ka din pala Miss Kim." I said laughing at her comment.
"Hindi kita binobola, I wish I could wear what you wear, pero hindi kasi bagay sakin. This outfit I am wearing are what suits me, dahil nga may glasses kasi ako." She said smiling.
"Also yung ngiti mo, mas maganda ka pag naka-ngiti at hindi ka beast mode tulad kahapon." I said chuckling at her as I made a final right turn going to school.
"Salamat at pinapatawa mo ako today, bawing-bawi ka na sa kasalanan mo kahapon." She finally said.
"Hindi ako bumabawi ah? Totoo yung sinasabi ko, you should smile more. Kasi napaka-ganda mo pag naka-ngiti ka. Kahit makapal ang salamin mo, walang tatalo dyan sa smile mo." I said to her sincerely.
"Alam mo Miss Manoban, madami akong nadidinig tungkol sayo, let's be clear and I will only say this once. Hindi mo ako mabobola Miss Manoban. Never, ever. So kung ano man tong sinusubukan mong gawin, don't try to dahil hindi tatalab sa akin yang pambobola mo, hindi ka makakatakas sa tutorial classes natin." She said to me.
"Hahahahahahaha! Ano ba yan, Jennie. Hindi naman kita tinakasan kahapon eh, nakalimutan ko lang talaga. Akala ko ba peace na tayo?" I said to her laughing.
"Oo nga, hindi, mabuti nang malinaw tayo. Kasi yang pambobola mo sinasabi ko sayo immune ako sa ganyan." She said laughing.
"Wow immune daw, so you mean to say madaming nag-sasabi na maganda ka pag naka-ngiti?" I asked her.
"Yung iba sinasabi maganda daw ako talaga, fashionable at may iba sexy daw. Pero no one has ever complemented my smile. It was always what I was wearing or how I wear my hair and other factors." She said.
"Jennie, please believe me when I say that your smile is beautiful. Alam mo ba kung gaano kaganda yang ngiti mo?" I asked her.
"Hmmmm hindi ko alam, sige nga gaano kaganda ang ngiti ko?" Jennie asked me.
"Kasing ganda ni Helen of Troy, it could launch a thousand ships to war." I said to her as I pulled over sa parking lot ng school.
It was already 6:25 a.m. on the clock, for a change I was early.
"Sus, bolera ka talaga Manoban, pero good job kasi may natutunan ka sa reviewer mo." Jennie said.
"Syempre, nakaka-hiya naman sa'yo ineffortan mo pa ako gawan ng reviewer tapos hindi ako mag-aaral." I said to her as I parked in my spot.
"You know I thought you were a hopeless case, pasensiya ka na talaga kahapon. I hate it pag pinaghihintay ako. I don't have the time to stay kasi ng ganun ka-tagal, I have personal video projects I am making on the side and then syempre pagod mag-hapon sa classes." She said apologetically.
"Okay lang, I get it. Also fault ko naman, lutang lang ako talaga kahapon." I said to her.
I unbuckled myself from the seat at kinuha ko ang bag ko sa likod, she gathers her stuff up from her lap, I opened the door as she unbuckles herself from the seat. Inalalayan ko itong bumaba mula sa kotse ko. After nyang maka-baba, I closed the door and walked with her going to our classroom. Upon arriving at our classroom andun na si Miss Jandel.
"Miss Manoban, it's nice to see you come in early. Good job, Miss Kim." Miss Jandel said to Jennie.
"Thank you po ma'am for the opportunity that you gave me para po maka-bawi." I said to Miss Jandel.
"Like what I said, I know what you are going through Miss Manoban, I was once a student like you. I wasn't as good as you think I am, may times na nabobore din ako sa English Literature. You were just lacking effort in trying." Miss Jandel said smiling.
"What you said ma'am." I said to her as I found a seat.
Jennie was sitting upfront, I chose to sit at the second row behind Jennie's chair. Miss Jandel prepared herself for the lesson we would be having. I chose to review the papers Jennie gave me yesterday. Unti-unting nagsi-datingan ang mga kaklase namin, walang nakaka-alam ng set-up namin ni Jennie kundi sila Rosé at Rabbit lang. The rest of my crew thinks that Jennie is my girlfriend or laboratory partner sa Video Editing classes ko. I didn't correct why I needed to be late for the practice. Basta sinabi ko lang sa kanila na may kailangan kaming gawin ni Jennie na project. My classmates were whispering to themselves, surely shocked that I was here in class at nauna pa ako sa kanila. Jennie looked back at me and smiled at me, I returned her smile. Once nakumpleto na ang mga kaklase namin, our class started. Una munang nag-recap si Miss Jandel ng tinalakay namin kahapon, tapos ang short quiz namin and finally checking ng quiz before we continued with discussing. Iba ang nagcheck ng paper ko, I got a perfect score on the quiz at nang isa-isa na kaming tinawag para sabihin ang score namin, everyone was surprised to hear that I aced this quiz. Pati si Miss Jandel nasurpresa sa akin, pinapasa nya ang papel ko para i-check kung nag-sasabi ako ng totoo.
I submitted my paper to her and she was surprised with what she was seeing. I was proud of Jennie, she was the one who did all the work for me. Jennie looked back at me and mouthed the word 'Congrats' and gave me a sweet smile. I was so proud to have accomplished this feat imagine maaga ako tapos naperfect ko pa ang quiz namin today. Si Jennie ata ang lucky charm ko at himala ding hindi ako nabore sa English Lit subject namin. Pagka-tapos ng klase namin, sinabayan ko na si Jennie ng pag-alis sa classroom.
"Thank you ulit, Jennie." I said to her.
"Wala yun, ikaw lang eh." She said smiling at me.
"May next class ka ba?" I asked her.
"Wala, free period ko." She said smiling.
"Ako din free period ko, gusto mo ba sumama sa practice ko?" I said to her.
"Sige nga, nang makita kita ko kung paano ka sumayaw." She said.
We walked to the dance room where I usually practice on my own. Dito ako madalas sa room na to pag free period ko, malayo at isolated kasi ito sa mga tao. Walang ibang makakakita sayo, unless sadyain nila. Nasa corner kasi ito at medyo creepy kasi yung corner na ito. I watched Jennie as she walked. Pati pag-lalakad nya ang ganda, para siyang anghel. Lord bakit ba ganito sya? Sobrang cuteeeeee. 😭
