~flashback~
I was walking alone at center of our school where everyone was chattering, talking and blabbering to each other endlessly while looking at me as if I did something wrong.
I tried to recall as fast as I can what event might occur, but nothing seems to poop on my head. Why is that there is this kind of commotion happening right now?
And there goes on my way, Usui Takumi - my one and only rival in every school events, the one who is ruining my day everyday; leaning on the wall while looking intimidatingly at me.
He was near at the bulletin board as I see there's a lot of people gathered, looking at something I am not sure what it is.
That is the time I widened my eyes and remembered the exam we took last week; Who ever has the highest score will a prestigous event to represent the school.
I immediately walked towards it to see the result. I am certain that I did well with non other than, Usui.
They jolted rapidly when they see me approaching through it.
'#1 Usui Takumi and L/N Y/N: 98.7%'
"What?!" I shouted out loud that made everyone looked at me in confusion while others may have a hint why I acted that way. They all know Usui and I's rivalrly and whenever it comes to things such as this. The results was I am always the 2nd, below him.
"What a coincidence, Y/N-chan." Usui detached himself from leaning on the wall and slowly walked towards me snd leaned his face close to mine.
Suddenly, out of knowhere, there is this irritating sound - it starts whenever they are to announce something really important.
"Good Morning, everyone! As you all know, the exam you took last week will determine who will be the representative of our school to compete with others. Apparenlty it so happened that two students are both in the 1st place. Let us all congratulate... Usui Takumi & Y/N L/N! Good work make our school proud! Please go to us after school for futher details."
Everyone in the hallway cheered and clapped their hands all together - It was defeaning my ears. Usui looked on me and whispered softly, "Congratulation, Y/N. See you later, I guess?" And walked out in a hall full of crowd.
......
Most of the students already left the school. I was waiting all alone to discuss about the competition that I have no knowledge on how will that work and we need consent to join it.
"Damn it! I've been sitting here for almost 30 minutes. Besides, where is Usui?" It was quite and I believe I am the only one who heard it - I was wrong.
"You missed me already?" My eyes lit up was shocked to hear an irritating voice. It turned out to be the one and only, Usui.
He sat beside me and rest his head on the wall. "They're not arriving yet?" He asked me while I just looked down in embarrasment. I shyly nodded.
He grabbed my chin carefully and looked at me straight in my eyes. I tried not to look but gave up too in a minute of time.
The atmosphere was quite and we are all alone there. "No... nothing." I said while he's still holding my chin.
After that, I heard footsteps approaching and there goes our head of our school to talk about the event we'll be joining.
We both entered as he ordered us to sit. "First is that we would like to congratulate you both. Although you might think if two candidates were able to join the contest and the answer is yes." He announced while made me baffled even more.
He explained the most school got two highest score. It's cliché I know that is why they decided to combine 1st and 2nd runner up with those who got only top 1 to be fair. Of course there's a special recognition for those who excel alone.
"It will be held next month, so please be prepared. You'll be exused for the entire month before it starts. Do you best!" He stated and after that, we already left.
~as of now~
On Monday is the day of the competition. We are asked to go to our school at exactly 4:30am. There's bus that will pick us up. They are doing the to every school so that it will be a less hassle.
*Beep* 1 message from Usui Takumi.
In case you are wondering, he endlessly forced me to give him my number even though I don't want to.
He said that, we'll be together for a long time, what if you're missing? How am I supposed to find you? That made me think that I need it and he has I point that is why.
Usui: Y/N, you up?
You: What do you want...
Usui: Let's see. Hmm... You.
You: If you have
nothing to say, just sleep.
Usui: Wait! Okay, okay. Sorry. It's almost 12am, why you're still up?
You: Tbh? I'm a bit
nervous. How about you?
Usui: Probably tired, but I want to talk to you, so I am fine.
You: Stop it...
You should sleep already. Tsk.
Usui: You're gonna do well, Y/N.
Don't overthink too much.
Strange. Why do I feel like I am slowly forming blush on my face?
You: Th... thanks.
Usui: You should rest now. Good night Y/N see you tomorrow. :)❤

A heart?
.....
Usui and I are now at our school waiting for the bus to arrived. In just moment it did so I grabbed my things apparently I am frail and has no energy due to lack of sleep.
"Let me carry that." Usui grabbed two of my luggage and it made me shocked about his sudden move.
"It's heavy..." I said while he responded "If it's for you, then it's not." and just looked at me earneslty while he made his way on the bus.
I entered the bus and there's this girl who stood up that blocked my way. I was on my way so I sat temporarily at the vaccant sit.
Meanwhile, "Can I sit with you?" The girl from the other school seems to be flirting with Usui. He looked at her confusingly with the face judgement
"No. This is Y/N's sit." He said blunlty that made the girl smiled awkwardly and returned to her sit.
Usui stood up and walked towards me. "Let's go, Y/N." He grabbed my hands and that time I could feel my cheeks burning up - is this because of embarrasment or... I shook my head and looked down. So I sat down on the near the window.
"You could just sit with her instead." I said.
"Er? You might ba jealous. I want to sit beside you, not her." My eyes lit up a bit and blush a bit.
Since everyone was settled down, we now rode all the way to where the event will be held. It's gonna be a long ride which means I'm gonna sit a long time with Usui Takumi as well, enjoyable right? I straight through my mind sarcastically so that no one would hear it.
It's still dusk outside and I find this perfect to listen to music without being bothered. If you ask, I am still sleepy yet I'm trying my best not to. I may end up on Usui's shoulders.
What happened was opposite to what I expected - Since it was gloomy outside, the bus is cold and it is an epitome of sleeping time.
Usui on the other hand was resting his chin through the palm of his hand. He seemed to be thinking whatsoever.
My eyes now are not on their condition and my body seems to fall behind because I lack of sleep. I am now regretting not sleeping early. Damn it!
Usui noticed my head falling but I'm trying to stay awake, I guess? My eyes are completely falling and I couldn't do anything anymore. Out of knowhere, Usui gently grabbed my head and rest it on his shoulders.
"Just rest for a while." He grabbed something from his luggage and it was a small blanket. He placed it all over my body and I could tell, it does feel nice and comfy. That time around, I just widened my eyes, doesn't know what to say and I could feel my heart skip a beat at a sudden gesture he made. This time, he wasn't even making fun of me until - he grabbed the left side of my earphone and started listening to it.
"Good choice." He started jamming with it. I tried to detached myself, but he won't let me. "Shh... just sleep, Y/N." He looked at me and fixed the blanket that fell because of my movement.
"Tha... thanks, Usui." I stuttered while he patted a his hand on my head and that's the time I fell asleep. I glanced at him and smiled after.
.....
We arrived at the our destination and damn! This is really prestigious. We were asked to fall in line while we grab the keys to our rooms.
There goes the girl from a while ago pretending to be struggling carrying her bag. "Can... can you help me?" He asked Usui while he just ignored her. She was basically just carrying 2 bags that doesn't even look heavy compared to mine. If you are wondering, yes he is still carrying mine.
It was our turn and apparently the lady said that we'll be sharing rooms. "Wh... what?!"
"Thank you." Usui stated and grabbed the keys while I puzzled everything in my head. Me and Usui in the same room? Alone?! He grabbed my hands and walked straight wherever our room is.
He opened the room and by the time I looked at it. Thank God, the bed was separated. That made me sighed in relief and went towards the bed and wrapped my self up.
I tried to look since it was quite, and for damn sake, Usui is undressing his shirt. "Arghhh! What are you doing?!" I backed down since it was an unexpected move.
He looked at me, take note, shirtless and crawled through my bed. He leaned towards me and said, "Are? I am changing my clothes." And finally he backed down and put his shirt on.
"You should probably too." He said while fixing his things and clothe. My heart beats faster than I thought.
"I'll go outside, of course." I exclaimed and sighed.
"I will later." He leaned on my bed while both of his hands were on his back, thinking. "Wth? Go to your bed, Usui!"
It was a complete gloomy atmosphere until he broke the silence. "I'm sorry, Y/N." I was confused at what he said and so I asked, "About what?" I said softly, he seems serious.
"I know how much you want to be the one to pass and be the #1 student to join this prestigious event... I feel like I ruined it, your dream."
So he feels like he is responsible for being a hindrance to my dreams. I never knew someone like him could care about that little thing, if some may say.
"What? Seriously? N- no... I am actually glad we both made it, you know." I tried my best not to embarrass myself once again in front of him. "Please don't think that way, Usui. I don't blame you at all."
"Oh... I'm glad, thanks. I know you're gonna do well, we both will." He stood up, looked at me and smiled. "Besides, I am kind of hungry, let's go to the hall?" I nodded in agreement.
Why does suddenly I feel comfortable around him? I hate him, but now... I don't know, what is this uneasy feeling inside me?
And so we walked together to find something to eat.

"Man, I am so full! That's so yummy!" I stated while rubbing my tummy. I heard a sudden giggle and it's Usui. "What?" I asked him in confusion.
"Nothing, you're just cute." He said while I blushed once again. "Stop it!" I said playfully.
After a while I decided to go to the bathroom. On my way. I was blocked by the three girl and one of them was Usui's admirers. This time she's not by her self anymore.
"Umh, excuse me..." But she didn't even bother to move an inch and just crossed her arms towards and gave me a death stare.
"Tell me, why is that Usui like you and not me? You look ugly, poor, begging for love and attention and doesn't even deserve to be here. To join this prestigious contest? Seriously? Instead why are you even here?! Usui should be with me and not you!" Those hurtful words shattered my heart into pieces.
"We're no-" I was cut by her slap on my face. Tears started to fall down through my eyes. I want to do the same, to kick her, punch her, but my mind tells not to do a thing. I started to think if everything she's saying is true.
"Oh, come on! Stop messing with me you stupid brat!" I froze from that very moment. She was about to slap me once again when somebody beside me stopped it. "U- Usui!" She said in shocked.
He gripped her hand and detached it furiously. Me on the other hand was speechless and crying. Usui grabbed my cheeks and the second I knew what his soft lips attached to mine. I couldn't anything but to stare straight not even knowing what to do. That lasted for about fifteen seconds when he finally pulled out slowly.
I was stunned and don't know what is happening. He hugged me tight while looked I him slowly. "She's mine and only mine. Back off. Bother her again and I'll not think twice to fight you."
"Usu... I am sorry." Usui threatened them that made them forfeit and left.
"Let's go, Y/N." And so we went straight to our room and that is when we sat in the bed, he's in front of me. I couldn't hold back myself and started bursting with tears.
Usui leaned towards me, wrapped his arms and buried me into his chest. My tears still falling.
"Am I that weak, Usui?" He caressed my hair, "Shh... don't ever listen to them. You are strong and caplable of doing such things. That is how I see you, Y/N. They are just a bunch of brats." He kissed my forehead softly. He hugged me once again and I could feel the warmth of his body. If feels nice.
"Really?" I asked. "Really." He responded.
That made me wiped my tears still sniffing, "Why... *sniff* would you *sniff* do that?" He held one of my hand while massaging it and while the other fixed my hair with his fingertips. He looked at me in my eyes while I did the same, and after that he held my cheeks.
"Because I love you, Y/N." My eyes widened and I blushed even more harder. He looked at me for about a second and after, he kissed me once again. This time, I kissed him back and he slowly pushed me through the bed and looked at my forehead to lips after kissing it passionately through my neck.
....
"You are beautiful, Y/N. You're mine." He smiled at me while hugged my once again, tightly.
"I'm yours, Usui. I love you too. Thank you for everything. I am sorry if I was rude to you. But now, I promise to love you. I'll be better." I said while I rubbed his back.
"You're already better." He said while pecked his lips to mine.
....
After the event, unexpected thing happened. Usui and I are the one who claimed became the champions. We are both very excited to share this success to our school.
I am glad Usui and I are top 1.
