Lisa's POV
I was getting used to my life at the hacienda. As the days goes by my body was getting used to the hard task I am doing here. I worked from sunrise to sunset regardless of any pain or exhaustion I felt. But looking on the bright side, all those work had earned me a nice tan and a more toned body.
I've seen Jennie for only 3 times in this whole week. I couldn't go near her even if I wanted to. Instead, I just watched her from a distance. She'd just throw me a quick glance everytime she sees me looking at her and quickly look away. It was agonizing to not be able to hold her, to speak with her, to be close to her yet so far.
She loved me with everything she had and now she couldn't even look at me. I knew all this was my fault. I knew I made a mistake. She gave me everything and all I did was break her heart. I had hurt the woman I love and it was I that had put myself in the position I was in. But I am ready to bare with the exhaustion or pain just for Jennie. There's no such thing I wouldn't do for her. I knew there's a chance she still feels something for me and while i may need to earn back her trust, there was still hope.
I stretched out my tired arms and cracked my hurting back from carrying sacks of fruits and vegetables that would be delivered to the factory. I felt being a military. I am not allowed to rest because I still need to feed the horses and bath them. I headed towards the horse stables and found Jennie there.
I quietly watched as she stood next to her favorite horse and mine too, Nini. Jennie and I had some fun memories while riding that horse. She petted her horse's nose and it made loud neighing sound.
"Jennie." I slowly walked towards her.
She turned to me. She looked caught off guard at first but her expression quickly changed to a hard one. "You're just a worker here. You have no right to call me by name. Madam, that's what you're going to call me from now on just like what other workers do here. "
I just nodded my head. This was kind of funny in a sad way. I remembered the time when she followed me to Seoul and worked for our company. I told her to call me Ms. Manoban just like my employees do. Now she was the boss and I was working for her. She was doing the same thing i did to her. It was ironic how our roles have reverses now.
This is how hurt being treated. I was hurting for her more than I was for myself. I put her through a lot of pain and I wish i could undo everything I did that had hurt her.
"Do you need anything, Madam?" I asked after too much of this silence had passed.
" All I need right now is for you to stay away from me. " She said in a cold tone.
I gave her another nod and turned around to head out the stable. I only took a few steps when i heard her call my name. I faced her.
"When are you going to get tired of this?" She asked.
"Never. " I answered with a bittersweet smile. "I will never get tired of showing how much I love you. I know how badly I fucked up. I know how much I had hurt you but swear I'll prove to you how much I love you and how sorry i am. I'll make it up to you. "
Her face softened a bit. I could see the internal battle in her mind reflecting through her eyes. And then she dropped her eyes to the ground, avoiding my gaze. She wasn't ready to forgive me yet but I knew she would be.
Jennie's POV
I shook the reins for Nini to go faster. I didn't know exactly where I was going. I guess I just needed to get some fresh air and get everything she said off my mind. My heart wanted to believe it but my mind couldn't. The love drink side of me screamed for me to run and wrap my arms around her. But I was scared of being hurt again that i hurt her. Love does have limits and I think I've reached mine. You could only love someone and go through too much with that person. Sometimes it's just too way much that no matter how much you love someone it wouldn't be enough.
I tapped my foot against Nini and she stopped. I went down from behind her. This wasn't working. I still couldn't get her off my mind. I am not used to Lisa who was downing herself for me. She had always been proud and cocky now here she was, reduced to such sorry state.
"Nini..." I sighed as I stroke my horse's nose. When I had no one to talk to, I usually just talk to Nini. "Why is that? Why when I'm already used not having her around is where she will go here and confuse my mind? I can't let all my progress go to waste. "
She nudged her nose to me as if comforting me. I patted her. I could tell her everything. Sometimes it's good to talk with animals. When you tell them your secrets they wouldn't judge you or tell anyone else. They couldn't give advice but thats wasn't what I wanted right now. Sometimes I just wanted to be heard, even if I'm not sure if she could understand me.
"I want to hate her but the sad truth is I'm still very much in love with her. " I pouted. " I'm mad at her because she hurt me, she made me stupid but I know i still love her.
She can't just show up here and expect everything to be magically okay again. The wound are still fresh. It still hurts. "
Nini made a sound, it was as if she really understood me and was trying to make me feel better.
After spilling everything out to Nini, I jumped on to her again. I drove for awhile and it almost dark when I returned Nini to her stable. Lisa was still there when I came. She was leaning against the wall as if she was waiting for me.
When I almost got down, she approached me. She put her hands on either side of my torso, just below my breasts.
"I can do it." I said, irritated as I tried to pry her hands away from me but she pulled me down. Next thing i knew I was snuggled against her chest. Her natural scent mixed with her sweat drove me wild in the inside. She wasn't wearing any cologne. It was misky, earthy. The heat or her body against me and her sweat reminded me of the last time we made- had sex right here in this very room we were in.
I swallowed and quickly took a step back. "You don't have the rights to touch me." I hissed, glaring at her and I headed out of there. I was afraid I'd lose control just like the last time. It was too dangerous to be that close to her. My body was a traitor. One touch from Lisa and it would betray me.
Lisa's POV
It was a struggle to get out of bed. My head was light and my body felt heavy but i had to force myself up. I still have many work to do from the hacienda today. We were rushing to harvest acres of crops before the storm rolls in. I need to show to Bobby that i am working well. I hardly get any rest. I am helping harvesting the crops, lifting socks of the harvested fruits and vegetables. Sometimes I would only eat twice a day because I was too tired to have dinner. I'd just collapse on the bed and dozed off.
I went to work after I having a bath and eat my food. I was feeling under the weather today but I ignored it. Once I start working. I'd forget about it and it would go away. I started working but the burning hot heat of the sun was making me feel worse. I was sweating like hell but at the same time I was having the chills. I didn't feel it, until my body can, I will work. I wouldn't want Bobby to think that I was slacking off.
After a while, my vision got a little blurry. I wiped the sweat that was dripping down from my forehead to my eyes. I blinked a couple of times to clear my vision. My surroundings faded in and i could feel my body shutting down.
Jennie's POV
I went to the hacienda for a walk, I walk to the farm where Lisa is working. Sometimes, I watch her from the distance. I thought she can't never do to work in the hacienda. I thought she wouldn't be able to do her work properly. She was used to working in an air-conditioned building, sitting on a comfy chair in front of her computer. She can't work under the sun while doing a hard task. But from what I see she is the most persistent worker in there. She almost didn't rest. Some would take a few minutes of break under the shade of tree but Lisa rarely does that. Add it more when she is a woman. And I can't really believe she can do it. If I where in her position i will collapse at the first place. I couldn't believe it at first. Lalisa Manoban, the executive officer of one of the biggest companies here in Seoul, was now working at our hacienda.
I walked around the hacienda, i even went to the horse stables but i couldn't find her there. I was starting to get worried. And then a question came into my mind. What if she already went back to Seoul? I felt a pang in my chest at the thought.
I approached one of the workers. "Did you see Lisa?" I asked her.
"Lisa is sick right now, Madam. She collapse awhile ago while working. " She said.
" She doesn't want to stop from working. I didn't see her resting for awhile. " The other one said. " She's strong but her body is too thin and skinny. She's abusing her own body. "
" Where is she? " I asked urgently.
" They brought her to the quarters she was living. We want to bring her to the center but she refused it. She just want to rest. " The guy said, shooking his head.
I furiously went to her. I walked to the old tool shed where she was staying and opened the door to find three young women in there. Lisa was lying on the bed, one woman sat on the edge of it wiping her with a small towel while the two were watching. My eyes narrowed in a sharp slit. I faked a cough.
"Madam." The girl one said when they saw me. "Good afternoon, Madam."
"You can now leave. I can do her." I coldly said, scowling at them. Why the fuck is this woman so handsome? Even when she's sick the girls are still around her.
The woman who was sitting on the edge of her bed stood up and they all walked out of the small room. I replaced the girl and sat at the edge of her bed. I felt her forehead with the back of my hand and she was... hot.
"You're burning because of fever, and there's still girls around you." I mindlessly said in annoyed tone.
" Are you jealous? " She grinned with eyes till closed. Her voice was weak but playful. I was quiet surprised because I thought she was sleeping.
"Jealous your face." I recorded.
A low chuckle rose from her throat.
"Did you take your meds?" I asked, changing the subject.
"Yeah... " She answered, weakly.
" How are you feeling? "
" Much better now that you're here." She murmured. She took my hand and just held it tightly to her chest. " Stay. Don't ever leave again." She whispered.
