JAXON

I'm an idiot. I'm an idiot. I'm an idiot.

I'm a fucking idiot.

Why did I believe that Kimora would be alright alone at the house by herself? I should've stayed at the house or taken her with me. Maybe I should've sent her to somewhere else that would guarantee her safety.

My foot pushed the gas pedal even further and my fists gripped the steering wheel. My body was boiling with anger. My hands trembling and wishing that the steering wheel was Adam. My jumbled anxious thoughts were only adding the fuel to the fire.

I was at Tyler's house which wasn't far from Kimora and I's place.

I could make it before anything happens to her.

What if he already got to her? I doubt he would kill Kimora. Probably try and take advantage of her like before... To fuck with me and break her even more. I imagined Kimora pleading for me to save her and I shook the dreadful thought out of my head but, my chest still felt heavy.

Kimora... please hold on a little longer.

I finally arrived not even five minutes after I got out of my thoughts. I saw Adam with unconscious Kimora in his arms heading towards a car. I swerved in front of him and jumped out of the car.

He doubled back, nearly dropping Kimora from his arms. "Jaxon... it's so not great for you to make it." He glared.

I aimed the gun at him. "Put her down before I fucking blow your brains out."

"You wouldn't shoot me with Kimora in my grasps." A sinister smirk appeared on his face. My finger twitched but, I didn't shoot. This fucker would throw Kimora in front of the bullet... I have to find a way to get her out of his arms without Kimora getting hurt.

My eyes flickered to Kimora. She was unconscious but, her face was strained with pain. The blood trickling down her slightly colorless face only made my task to get her out of his hold more severe.

I took a deep breath before tossing my gun onto the ground. As soon as his gaze shifted from me to the gun, I charged towards him, toppling over us all onto the ground. I heard Kimora groan in pain and I'd apologize later but, right now, my focus was on this bastard.

I got on top of him, repetitively landing my fist in his face. Somehow, he managed to get a hold on my neck and tightened his fists around my neck. I saw that creepy smile of his and decided to head butt him in his face.

I got back onto my feet, filling air back into my lungs as he wiped the blood from his crooked nose. "I should've killed you when I had the chance." He breathed out.

"You couldn't even kill me if you had tried."

He dug into his jacket, pulling out a knife. "We'll see about that." With that, he came at me and swinging the knife to stab my chest but, I dodged out of the way. Yet, he kept coming, each swing of his still had me dodging. The knife managed to cut me several times but, I held my ground.

I missed a step and the knife plunged into my shoulder. I clenched my jaw as he snatched it back. I created some distance from us, clenching my wound now as he watched me attentively. At this rate, he was going to stab me until I was good as dead if I didn't do anything to fight him off. However, I was just on offense the whole time. I didn't want that knife to get near me. The ridged edges of that thing told me that it wasn't any ordinary knife and if it hit me right in my chest, it'd hit a major artery and I'd be done for.

I laughed, mainly to laugh off my pain. "Wow. Good job. You managed to hit me."

"I can't believe Kimora actually fell in love with you." Adam clenched the knife in his hands, his stare much darker. "You're not even her type."

"Sorry but, the obsessive psychopathic childhood best friend who turns out to be her rapist doesn't sound like her type either."

He took a step closer. "I made her feel way better than you could."

I snorted. "You're fucking delusional."

"She doesn't deserve you. You'll go around her back and cheat on her. Because a player will always be a player." He growled.

"And a dick will always be a dick."

He tackled us back onto the ground. He went to strike the knife into my chest but, I grabbed his wrists, fighting against his strength. Yet, I couldn't give it all consider my shoulder was throbbing in pain. He noticed my weakness and that stupid smirk of his was back on his face.  "Looks like it's the end for you, Jaxon." He added more pressure and I felt the knife poke through my chest.

We both froze from the sound of a gun cocking. We looked up at Kimora, aiming my gun at Adam with a sharp glare on him. "Get the hell off of him right now."

For a moment, he didn't move until Kimora shot in the air. "Now."

Adam reluctantly got off of me, his gaze holding Kimora's. He took a step towards her. "Kimora... don't sh-"

The gunshot rang in the air but, Adam or I winced from the pain. She must've missed... Kimora cursed under her breath as she stared past us and I followed her gaze. I could barely see it in the dark but, there was definitely a hole in the car near its gas tank.

A low, hissing sound was coming from it and I knew what that meant.

"Shit," I mumbled, scrambling up from my spot, jumping in front of Kimora just as the car had blown up.

KIMORA

I opened my eyes and florescent lights beamed over my head. I blinked a few times, letting my eyes adjust to the brightness. I sat up on the stiff mattress and no one wasn't in the room. I was all alone with the constant beeping noise echoed off the walls. Everything seemed so surreal right now. I don't remember ever getting to a hospital... this was a different hospital from what I was used to.

I tried filing through my memory... Adam had broken into my house and then knocked me out, then I woke back up with Adam trying to kill Jaxon in the parking lot of our apartment. I threatened him with a gun and I shot at a car... Jaxon pulled me towards the ground as it blew up and then I blacked out.

I pulled from my thoughts when I heard the door close. I looked up in hopes to see Jaxon or my parents but, instead, my hopes were replaced with dread.

Adam stood in front of the door, locking it behind him. My breathing hitched and my heart started to race in panic. I leaped up from the hospital bed, my leg still aching from the wound that was now bandaged up as I backed into the nearest corner and glaring at him. "Stay the hell away from me."

He furrowed his eyebrows, haunting green eyes narrowed at me. "Where are you going to go?"

"I will scream."

"You wouldn't-"

I let out an ear-piercing scream. "HELP! SOMEONE HELP-" My scream was cut short as a disgusting hand covered my mouth. "When will you understand that I am in love with you and you need me... not Jaxon?"

I pushed him away but, he didn't go back far enough for my comfort. "When will you take the hint that I will never love you! You're a vile disgusting pig and I wish I would have never met you!"

Anger flashed in his eyes. "You promised me, Kimora."

What? Promised? When did I ever promise to him?

I raked my memory to recall ever when I had actually allowed myself to promise to be in love with him.

Then it all flowed back to me.

"Don't eat that, Caleb!" I yelled but, Caleb had completely devoured the crayon as if it was some kind of candy. He pouted, his lips tinted green. "Oh... sorry."

"Are you sick? Does your tummy hurt?"

"No."

"Good." I hit his arm and he flinched. "Ow! That hurt!"

Adam giggled at us. "Don't fight or the teacher will give you both time out."

I sighed, plopping down onto the tiny chair. "Now, what are we going to color the grass?"

"We can color it... um... purple?" Adam said, smiling shyly at me.

"Grass isn't purple."

"Well, do you have any other colors?"

"...fine. Purple it is." I grabbed the said color from the table and scribbled under the three figures, stick figures on the grass. It would look nice with green but, I guess purple will do. I showed both of them and they both nodded with approval. "We look so awesome!" Caleb beamed, taking the picture.

Adam took the picture and looked up at me with a bright smile. "I agree. Kay is very awesome."

My cheeks were burning from Adam's compliment and I stared down at my lap. He's always been so sweet to me. I wonder if he likes me... or maybe like pancake love?

The bell snapped me from my thoughts and Miss. Gilbert smiled at everyone. "It's recess time. Please get in a single file line. Henry, you're the leader today."

We all filed outside to the playground and everyone ran towards their desired spot. I stood still,  waiting for Adam and Caleb.

"Kimora!"

I turned around to Joshua... or at least I think his name was Joshua. I smiled, waving. "Hey."

"You want to play Kickball with us?" His cheeks turning slightly red.

I rubbed my arm, looking away from him. I'm not sure how to tell him that I'd rather spend time with my friends than play with him. I hardly knew him like that anyway. "Well-"

"She's playing with us."

We both turned to Adam. He was giving Joshua a meanie look and Caleb was standing awkwardly behind him. Joshua said something but, I couldn't hear and ran off to play with the rest of the popular kids.

As if none of it ever happened, Adam smiled. "Okay, let's play hide and seek!"

"I'll be the tagger!" Caleb said volunteeringly.

"Count to 100."

Caleb pouted, the green crayon still on his lips. "That's so long. I don't know how to count that high!"

Adam ignored him and took my hand, tugging me towards the old playground that none of the other kids liked to be on because someone said it had cooties. Ew!

However, this was Adam and I's go-to spot to hide. We both know Caleb would never find us but, we would eventually come out when we heard him start to cry. We crept under the slide, the other kids playing further away was still heard. Yet, Adam and I were all by ourselves now.

"Kay, do you like Joshua?" Adam asked suddenly, rubbing the back of his neck and his black hair cover his eyes.

I tilted my head. "Yeah. He's nice."

"No... I mean, like... you really really like him as you want to kiss him."

"No way! Boys are gross! Well, not you and Caleb. You two are not gross!" I smiled and Adam smiled back at me before he started to get shy again. "Well... do you like me?"

This "like" felt different but, I answered. "Yeah..."

He got closer, so very close. "Do you... love me?"

"Love?"

"Yeah, like mommy and daddy love. They get fancy looking ring pops and get married." He explained but, I was still lost. He made a thinking face. "Hmm... oh! I know. Like pancake love."

My face heated up again. Pancake love...

I did really really like Adam. I pancake love him.

I wanted him to be in my life forever like we promised we would.

I didn't say a word but, I only nodded and Adam grinned before kissing my cheek. "One day, I'm going to make you my wife and we'll be happily ever after. Promise me you'll be with me one day?"

I smiled. "I promise."

I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding, staring at the white tiles. A precious memory that was so valuable to me before was no longer of worthiness.

To think... this was the reason why he... did what he had done. That was why he has been torturing me for months.

I clenched my fists as he began to start speaking. "You see? We were meant to be together, Kay. So stop fighting."

"I can't believe you!" I sputtered out, glaring at him. "You're acting on a fucking promise that we did when we were stupid, naive little kids! You need seriously need help, Adam. More than I thought you already did. Grow the hell up and stop being so caught up in the past and your own fantasy land!"

Hurt flashed in his eyes. He finally looked weak and vulnerable. I felt like I was the one looking down at him and laughing. I felt like I was in power.

And it felt good.

He closed his eyes for a moment, clenching his fists. There was silence before he finally spoke. "Y-You really do love Jaxon."

This was new. I expected him to attack me but, he really looked and sounded broken.

I swallowed the lump in my throat but, I was still on alert mode. "...yeah. I do."

"I was too late."

There was a deafening silence again. I felt like something was going to pop out and startle me.

Yet, the thing that did startle me was his next words.

"I'm sorry."

"What?" The words already made their way out of my mouth before I could even think.

He looked at me and there was that old Adam again... "I know it's not enough to resolve what I've done to you but, I am sorry."

I closed my open mouth and relaxed my shoulders. "I-I can't forgive you..."

He nodded. "That's understandable."

The doorknob had jiggled and we both looked at the door. "Miss. Woods?! Are you okay?! A patient heard you scream!" A lady's voice called through from the other side.

"I should go," Adam mumbled heading towards the window and I furrowed my eyebrows. "Where?" Why did I even care? He was going out of my life and I shouldn't be asking him. At least, I can only pray that he will be.

He looked over his shoulder but, didn't say a word before sneaking out the window. And just like that, a million bricks lifted off my shoulder.

This charade was finally over.

I unlocked the door to the doctor who had a worried look on her face. She took in my appearance and let out a relief. "Thank goodness, you're alright. Did something happen?"

"...just a nightmare but, it's finally over," I told her.

She nodded but, she didn't understand what I had been actually talking about. "Well, you should lay down. Your fiance has been worried about you ever since he brought you in."

Jaxon.

"He can come and in, right?" I asked, sitting down on the mattress.

"Yes but, visitor hours aren't allowed for another hour." She said, standing over me as she glanced at the watch on her wrist.

This definitely was a different hospital from where my Mom worked. Yet, I was relieved because if she got a call that her daughter was in the hospital, she'd panic. They probably had already called her. If not them, then Jaxon.

"Um... Miss..." I glanced at her name tag. "Glenn. Could you possibly be able to tell if... I'm still pregnant?"

Her brown eyes widened. "After your injuries, I wouldn't think so." My heart sunk in my chest. "But, I mean, we can run a few tests-"

"Please," I begged. A small smile formed on her face and she nodded. "Alright."

After a blood and urine test, Glenn had left me in the room telling me she'd be back in a few minutes before Jaxon had stepped in shortly after. I couldn't help but, smile when I saw him and he engulfed me in a hug. I inhaled his scent, squeezing him as tight as he was with me. I didn't want to let go of him. I wanted to hold onto him forever.

"You had fainted again after I saved us from that car blowing up. Turns out it was from blood loss so I rushed to the nearest hospital." Jaxon explained, pulling away to look at me. "I lost Adam but, I will find him."

I smiled. "Jaxon. We don't have to worry about him anymore."

He furrowed his eyebrows. "What do you mean?"

I explained to him everything that happened with Adam. He was pissed that Adam had snuck in her but, he was relieved as me when I realized living in fear was finally over. We finally had peace.

That meant I'd have to tell him I was pregnant soon... if I still am.

"Well, it would've been nice to kill that asshole."

I hit his arm and he jerked back, pouting. "Ow... is it me or are your hits getting stronger?"

"They are. Soon enough, I'm going to whoop your ass."

He smirked. "Kitten, every time we fight, I always win."

"Yeah, well, I'm going to change that as soon as I get better, I'm beating you up."

He rolled his eyes. "Sure."

There was a soft knock at the door and Miss. Glenn entered the room with an envelope in her hand. My heart skipped a beat and it gave away on the heart monitor. Jaxon raised an eyebrow at me but, I pretended I didn't see him.

"Here you are, Miss. Woods... or should I say, Mrs. Falls?" She smiled.

I blushed, taking the envelope. That had a nice ring to it... Mrs. Falls.

"What's that?" Jaxon asked, eyeing the envelope. Mrs. Glenn left the room so she didn't say anything and I slipped the envelope under my leg to open for when I was by myself. Whatever the news will be, I'd have to handle it myself. "Mind your business, Captain Douche."

He pouted. "I want to know."

"Fine. It's a test to see if I have some kind of disease."

He furrowed his eyebrows. "Do you seriously think I would give you an STD?"

"Well...."

He placed his hand over his heart. "I'm hurt."

I laughed, kissing his lips. "I'll let you know if anything."

"Whatever. I don't have anything." He stood up, shoving his hands into his pocket. "I'm going to go out and get you some food. You want anything?"

"Actually, I am craving like some cupcakes."

"What kind?"

"Strawberry and Nutella cupcakes?"

His nose scrunched up. "Okay. You're going to have me driving all over the place to look for those."

"But I really want themmm," I whined. "Pleeeeease?"

"Fine..." He sighed. "I'll be back."

"Don't be gone for too long."

"I won't."

He gave me a longing kiss before leaving out the door. As soon as he did, I slipped the envelope from under my leg and tore it open before reading.

My heart skipped a beat.
