Shawn's point of view
My girlfriend, Y/n Y/l/n, laid on my chest as I did a live stream. Last month we celebrated being together for a year, and it's been the best year of my life. Y/n had her eyes closed as I rubbed her back.
"Rest baby girl, I've got you." I said. She nodded her head against my chest.
"Okay. I love you." She said. My smile widened.
"I love you too honey. Do you mind me continuing the live stream while you rest?" I asked.
"No that's fine." She said. I kissed the top of her head and then looked at my phone again.
"Y/n had a hard time sleeping last night, so she's very tired right now. Ask me some questions guys." I said.
Randomuser: Is Y/n the one?
"Y/n is definitely the one and I'll scream that from the rooftops if I have to. I'm going to marry her someday, and that's a promise." I said.
Randomuser: When are you going to pop the question?
"When am I going to pop the question? Well we want to be together for about two years before we get engaged and we've been together for almost thirteen months. I love this girl lots." I said.
Randomuser: Is Y/n asleep?
"I don't know if she's asleep. Babe? Are you awake?" I asked. No response but the sound of soft snoring. I smiled. "She's asleep."
Randomuser: What do you love about Y/n the most?
"Oh my gosh, what do I love about Y/n the most? Oh gosh, I love everything about her. Um, I would have to say her strength. She's a very strong person. I know that she's opened up to you guys about the fact that she has anxiety and depression, but I remember, when I first met her, she was telling me about herself, and then she goes 'But not everything in my life has been good.' so I was like 'What do you mean?' and she told me about the fact that she's been to a lot of funerals and a lot of people in her life have passed away. She's gone through a lot, but she's still here, and I'm proud of her for that." I said.
"No, no. Shawn, no." Y/n said. I frowned.
"Babe? You okay?" I asked. Y/n began to move around while she laid on me and I noticed that her eyes were still closed.
"No, Shawn, please don't leave me, please, you promised." She said. I set my phone down and began to gently shake her. She was having a nightmare and I needed to wake her up.
"Y/n, wake up honey, wake up, you're having a nightmare. Y/n, wake up." I said. Her eyes snapped open and she sat up. She seemed as if she was trying to catch her breath. She looked at me, her eyes were wide with fear.
"You're not leaving me are you?" She asked. I shook my head as I sat up too and gently pulled her into my arms.
"No, of course not. I could never leave you honey. It was just a nightmare, that's all." I said. She nodded.
"In the, in the nightmare, you were at my house and you had packed your bags. You said that you didn't love me anymore and that you were leaving me. I kept saying no and that you promised that you would never do this but you told me that you didn't care about me anymore." She said. My heart broke.
"Oh my gosh honey. I care about you more than anything in this world. I'm right here, okay my love? I'm right here and I'm not going anywhere." I said. She looked at me and the fear was still in her eyes.
"Do you promise? Do you promise that you'll never stop loving me and that you'll never leave me?" She asked. I nodded.
"Of course baby. I promise you that I will never, ever, stop loving you and I will never, ever, leave you." I said. She nodded.
"Okay. Thank you. Wait, are you still doing a live stream?" She asked.
"Yes, but it's okay honey." I said.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to ruin it or anything." She said.
"Hey, stop babe, you didn't ruin anything. You had a nightmare, that's all." I said. She nodded again and then leaned her head against my chest. I kissed the top of her head. She looked up at me.
"I love you Shawn, and I'm just really scared that I'm going to lose you someday. You're the best thing that's ever happened to me and I don't want to lose you." She said. I brushed some hair out of her face and tucked it behind her ear.
"I love you too Y/n, and you don't have to be scared about that. You're never going to lose me. And do you want to know why you're never going to lose me?" I asked. She nodded.
"Yeah." She said.
"Because you're the best thing that's ever happened to me too. I'm beyond in love with you and you're my best friend. I want to marry you someday, and I will marry you someday. You're my everything and God forbid for some reason our relationship ended... I don't even want to think about that. I don't want to think about what life would be like without you. I love you." I said.
"I love you too. I know that there are times when the distance makes things hard, but we always make it through and I'm proud of us for that. I promise you Shawn Mendes, I'm never going to break up with you. I love you too much to break up with you." She said. I put my lips on hers and I felt my heart race as if I had just run a marathon, I felt sparks shoot through me like fireworks, and I felt butterflies erupt and fly around in my stomach.
"Someday we'll be living together and we won't have to say goodbye to each other, just good night." I said. Y/n smiled and gave me another kiss.
"You're amazing." She said. I chuckled.
"You're the amazing one darling." I said. She gave me another kiss.
"I love your kisses so much." She said with a giggle and I laughed.
"Well I love your kisses too. Should I end the live stream so we can just cuddle and talk and maybe watch a movie or something?" I asked. She shrugged.
"If you want to. It's up to you handsome." She said. I gave her another kiss and then picked up my phone.
"Hey guys, so I'm going to go spend some time with my girl. I love you guys, bye!" I said and then I ended the live stream. Y/n and I cuddled and talked and kissed. I'm so in love with her. Later on, we turned on Netflix. Y/n checked her Instagram, and since my arm was around her shoulders and she was leaning on me, I felt her tense up. She then tossed her phone to the side and looked at me. I paused what we were watching.
"Am I clingy?" She asked. I frowned.
"No, of course not. Why do you ask that babe?" I asked.
"Because some of your fans who watched the live stream are saying that I was being clingy after I had the nightmare." She said. I sighed and ran my fingers through my hair.
"I'm sorry honey. You know what? I'll do a live stream and I'll make a post. That's unacceptable. They can't be saying crap to you." I said.
"Are you sure? About the live stream and post?" She asked. I nodded and gave her a kiss.
"I'm positive. Is it okay with you if I do that?" I asked. She nodded.
"Yeah." She said. I nodded and then took out my phone while she took out a book. I found a picture of us from when we were laying in my bed, kissing, while cuddling. I posted it to Instagram and wrote a caption.
"It's come to my attention that more hate is being sent to my girlfriend. She is in no way, shape, or form, clingy. During my live stream earlier she had a nightmare and needed to be comforted, so I comforted her. Needing to be comforted and reassured is not clingy. I know that Y/n also gets other hate, and that needs to stop. She's a wonderful girl, and she doesn't deserve the hate that's being sent to her, so it needs to stop immediately. I'm not going to stop posting about her. She's the love of my life, my everything, and I'm going to continue to post about her and show her off. Please, please, please stop sending her hate. She's my world, and to see my world in pain is not a good feeling at all." I wrote. Y/n smiled at me when she saw the post.
"Thank you." She said. I kissed her forehead and let her lips linger for a moment longer. She knows that when I do that, it's my way of saying I love you.
"You're welcome. Mind if I do a live stream now?" I asked.
"That's fine baby. Do you mind if I just, I don't know, sit away a little bit so I'm not in it?" She asked.
"That's fine honey. Whatever makes you comfortable." I said. She nodded.
"Okay." She said. She then moved away a little bit so she was on the other side of the couch. I started the live stream on Instagram.
"Hi guys, so you may have seen my post, but I want to talk about that a bit more. Y/n shouldn't be getting any hate. I know that some of you guys are jealous and things like that, but do you guys want to know something? Y/n is my soulmate, and she's the best thing that's ever happened to me. She's better than the Grammy nomination, she's better than the record deal. You name something that happened to me, and she's better than that.
"To see Y/n hurt because of the hate kills me. I've seen my girlfriend really, really happy, but when she sees the hate, she becomes sad, I can see it in her eyes. She withdraws into herself, and sometimes she won't even talk much, even if it's just to me. I'll ask her something and she either shrugs, shakes her head, or nods her head. That's what the hate does to her.
"But do you know what else the hate does to her? This is what kills me the most: it makes her doubt herself, because she starts to believe the hate. She starts believing that she isn't good enough for me, she starts believing that she's fat, she starts believing that she's ugly. But let me tell you guys another thing: She is more than enough for me. She's perfect for me. She isn't fat, and she certainly is not ugly. She's the most beautiful girl, the most beautiful being in the world - no, in the galaxy, in the universe - and so when she starts asking me why I'm with her after she sees the hate, it kills me.
"Please, I'm begging you guys, enough. Y/n is my whole world, so please, please, please stop sending her hate. You guys don't know her like I do, you guys don't see her in the way that I do. Hell, my friends and her friends don't even see her the way that I see her. Do you know why that is? Because Y/n and I are the most ourselves when we're together and it's just us. I'm the only one who sees her when it's the summer, and it's hot, and so she falls asleep with no pants or shorts on. I'm the only one that sees her when she's at her most vulnerable, and she's the only one who sees me when I'm at my most vulnerable. Not even Brian or Andrew or my family has seen me like that.
"Please guys, stop sending Y/n hate. Someday her username on Instagram is going to switch to @Y/nMendes and you guys will be seeing our wedding pictures. Y/n's the love of my life, and she isn't going anywhere, so if you think that by sending her hate, that will get us to break up, it won't. Nothing can separate us. I love her endlessly and she loves me endlessly.
"She's so sweet - she's the sweetest person ever - and she makes me laugh and smile like I never have before. She makes me happier than I've ever been in my whole life. She's so caring and she always wants to make a good first impression on people in my life - or anyone actually - and it was so cute, because there was this one time, it was before she met my whole family right? So she was in my bedroom getting ready, and she comes out, dressed up all nice and she looked stunning, just like always. She comes up to me, puts her hand on her hips, and goes 'Okay, be honest, do I look like I have my life together?' and it was hilarious because she was so serious but I couldn't stop laughing.
"But guys, what I'm trying to say is that I love her more than anything. She's the best thing that's ever happened to me and I'm going to spend the rest of my life with her. We've already talked about our future together. Marriage, kids, kids names, all of it. I love her, and if you're a real fan, and if you really love and support me, then you'll be supportive and happy about the fact that I'm with the woman of my dreams and that I'm happy. Please stop sending Y/n any form of hate. Okay, I love you guys, bye!" I said and then ended the live stream. I looked at Y/n as she scooted closer to me.
"I love you so much. You're the best thing that's ever happened to me." She said.
"I love you so much too baby." I said.
"Can I sit on your lap please?" She asked. I smiled, nodded, and gently pulled her into my lap. She smiled at me and kissed me.
"You're my favorite person in this whole wide world." I said.
"Well you're my favorite person in this whole wide world too." She said. I love Y/n so much, and I'll always protect her.
