The sky exploded in a flash of dark blue electricity. The wind began to stir and the ground below us rumbled. The remaining dragon in the air almost fell from the sky and the golden warriors below shivered in their armour.

Zeus looked down from where he had appeared. Electricity was crawling up his skin. I felt his anger burning from where I was standing. Reflamen growled at him and his spikes rose from his scales, making him look like a giant coloured porcupine.

“YOU REALLY HAVE OVER DONE IT THIS TIME!” he screamed, “I’M NOT PLAYING ANY MORE. YOU WILL DIE!”

My two flame blades burst into existence. Reflamen got down low, ready to charge.

“YOU KILLED MY PUPIL, DERRICK. THAT I COULD HAVE FORGIVEN, BUT DESTROY MY CASTLE AS WELL!” his rage dripped from his skin as the world shook.

He put his hands back, and the thrust them forward. A giant stream of electricity shot from his hands. I crossed my hands in front of me, creating an invisible shield as the electricity crashed into it. The ground around me incinerated and my dragon was thrown to one side. I caught myself with imagination.

Zeus was suddenly in front of me. He looked like an ethereal being by the amount of white light he was putting off. His gaze made me feel like I was a little kid next to a giant.

“You will die,” he said quietly, which was some how more frightening then before.

He swung his hand at me open handed. I ducked and was about to stab him with my swords when an invisible force hit me in the side. The ground hit me and I thought I felt my shoulder crack.

Groaning I got up to see Reflamen had attacked Zeus. Zeus ducked with ease under Reflamen’s stroke and the dragon was lifted up and thrown nearly a hundred metres away.

I healed myself from the many broken bones that I had and hardened my skin. This fight looked like it was going to be a lot harder then most. The two flame blades came to my hands once again as I stood up, looking at Zeus.

He stared back, and then suddenly we were eye to eye. This time I didn’t give him a chance to attack. I struck with my swords, flames coming from them. A blade shot from his arm and he blocked my attack, before retaliating at an extremely fast speed. My sword blocked it, before I used my imagination and transformed myself into a living fireball that hit the lightning king in the chest. He went flying backwards, landing on the ground about twenty metres away. Zeus got up and brushed himself off as if nothing had happened. My swords moved once again, blocking a blow from behind. My legs collapsed as Zeus hit the back of my knee. Something collided with my backside and I went head over heals, landing on my back.

Frustrated I turned myself into a mirage and sunk into the ground, just as a blade hit where my body had just been. I made my vision zoom out from my body so I could see what was happening.

Reflamen had leapt into the fray once again, and was busy smashing Zeus into the ground. The lighting king got free of the dragons grip and created a sword, before striking at the Reflamen’s head. The dragon moved at a ridiculous speed for his size and blocked the sword with his wing, before blasting Zeus into the ground with a burst of green energy.

My body appeared into existence again right behind Zeus, but it didn’t do much as he punched me in the face as soon as I appeared. Gasping I staggered back, holding my broken nose. Once again my vision zoomed out and I healed myself. Zeus appeared behind me with his sword in a stabbing position, but this time I managed to block it.

We faced each other again. My breath was even and I was completely focused, while Zeus’s breath was coming unevenly as he tried to vent off the anger that was clouding his mind. He suddenly smiled.

“You’re not that bad,” he said, “If it wasn’t for the fact that you a great danger, I would almost like you to join us.”

I snorted, “Fat chance.”

Zeus just nodded, before attacking once more. His sword went in wild circles with seemingly no control. The one advantage I had over him was that I was better with weapons, more focused. He however seemed to know a lot more about the power of imagination, creating different things throughout our fight without thinking, almost. As we duelled I noticed a lost look in his eyes, as if he were daydreaming and this were all a memory.

‘That’s why his so good,’ said Reflamen.

He was staying back because he was to big to join in without getting in my way.

‘I know,’ I replied, ducking under a stroke and retaliating.

Zeus jumped back and before I could follow an earth pillar erupted before me. I crashed into it and fell back, gasping in surprise. Three more came from the ground around me, trapping me in a small earth cage. Feeling what was about to happen next I created a shield around myself. Sure enough the earth pillars suddenly moved inwards, trying to crush me. They just shattered on my shield.

I moved out of the dust made by the rocks quickly, trying to use it to my advantage. Zeus was ready for me and easily caught my swords on his own. We sparred back and forth for a while, trying to overwhelm the other with complex manoeuvres one could only do with imagination.

Zeus’s face contorted into one of frustration and annoyance when he realised that I was too much of a match for him when it came to swordplay. He jumped back, thrusting a blast of wind at me at the same time. I came off my feet and landed on the ground with a thump.

I rolled to the side as Zeus’s sword struck at where I had just been. Using imagination, I warped so I was standing upwards and behind Zeus, and struck. My sword cut through the flesh of his back causing the thunder king to cry out in agony. He warped a hundred metres away, clutching his back with pain.

Anger sparked back into his eyes. The flesh on his back melded back together as he healed himself from the first major wound of this fight.

“You should be proud,” snarled Zeus, “That’s the first blood I have drawn in a millennia.”

“Well you’re going to be getting that a lot more,” I replied.

Zeus just smiled and we were back in the fight against each other. He tried all sorts of different tricks and creations but I managed to get through all of them. I was also finding that the more we fort the more I was able to imagine.

Reflamen was sitting to the side, waiting for a chance to join in. His tail twitched at every movement Zeus made against me and the few scratches he managed to mark me with. At one point Zeus jumped back yet again, and Reflamen took the opportunity. He leapt forward, using imagination to increase his speed, and tackled the lighting king to the ground.

Zeus was court completely off guard. Reflamen through him into the air then twisted around and hit him with his tail. Zeus crashed into the ground nearly two hundred metres away, creating a small creator.

‘Nice intervention,’ I said to him.

‘Thanks,’ he replied.

We both watched as Zeus picked himself up from the hole and warped back to us. He appeared out of range of any close range attacks. His usually nice grey robe was ripped and torn. He arms and legs were covered in burns from where one of the twin blades had grazed him, and his head was mattered with blood.

“You know, two against one isn’t what I would call a fair fight,” he said.

“Where dragon and rider,” was my reply, “We always fight together.”

His head nodded from side to side, “Still, it’s unfair.”

My eyes narrowed, “This is war, there is nothing fair in it.”

Zeus’s eyes narrowed, “Your going to play it that way then? I guess I can’t stop you.”

He put his free hand out and another sword appeared in it. He faced us, his stance ready for anything.

‘Ready,’ I said mentally.

‘Ready,’ replied my dragon.

We both attacked at once. Zeus swung his swords once, and an electrical bolt shot from his blades at us. Reflamen defended with his wing and retaliated with a tail spike. Zeus blocked, but then I attacked, launching myself towards him. Our two swords clashed as lighting and fire exploded form the clash, and then once again Zeus and I were locked in mortal combat. Dodging and striking, blocking and attacking. It all blurred together.

Reflamen’s talons and tail snuck in from time to time, which Zeus either blocked or dodged. I struck at his head and he blocked, before striking with his other blade. It was strange, fighting another person with two swords. None of my usual tricks were working.

He blades moved in an interesting fashion, and my sword went flying out of my hand. Surprised I blocked the next two strokes with one sword before resummoning the other and jumping back. Reflamen struck at the same time with his tail, which Zeus jumped over before shooting a lighting bolt at the dragon, which he blocked with his wings.

“You’ve gotten better,” I said, breathing heavily.

“I’m an imaginere,” replied Zeus with a smile, “I can be as good as I want.”

My eyes narrowed and I regripped my sword. I suddenly appeared in front of Zeus, which he blocked easily. He didn’t see Reflamen’s tail come from underneath. It tripped him up. He landed on him backside, before rolling out of the way of an explosive fireball.

When the dust cleared it had gone back to a stale mate. I gritted my teeth, this was going to go on forever if we didn’t do something to change it. Zeus had seemed to come to the same conclusion. I was half fearful that he would just disappear again.

My swords suddenly moved and cut something in half behind me. I turned around to see what it was and raised my eyebrow in surprise. There was a man standing there with camouflage clothing on and a long, leaf like, whip.

“Long time no see,” said the man, a smile spreading across his features.
