I listen to acoustic strings
along with measures of the piano
and broken voices
singing of all they regret and miss
and their reminiscence of the one
who let them go
leaving them without proper goodbyes

these poetic songs
just remind me of you
but I can't just sit here
feeling sorry for myself
and holding onto the non existent hope
that we'll ever be more than strangers

letting go was never easy for me
not at all
I've held anger at my biological mother
for almost a decade
with no chance of forgiveness

how long will it be for you?
cause I won't sit here
listening to these sad songs
until I don't think of you anymore
