The names have become synonymous to one another-- the title following her in hushed whispers as she passes by. They say that darkness itself yields to her will. That her hands are stained with blood as black as the shadows that dance to her tune.

A word from her and no shadow can resist betraying its master in the face of serving her.

The shadows-- her eternal companions. She is their mistress and that is her curse.

Some swear that she is but a shadow herself. Silent. All seeing. The darkness is her domain, and oh, she thrives. The Queen of the Night.

She was born a child of darkness and some say that she will die as such. She must be destined to rule over all that goes bump in the night. The darkness, it seems, has intertwined itself with her very soul. She is the darkness itself.

People are afraid of the dark and what lurks in it. They are afraid of her as well.

It seemed to (Y/n) that her fate was set in stone. Murder written in blood on obsidian.

And yet, Dazai Osamu-- a man drowning in the same sea of shadows that had long since become her home-- was the first to tell her that she belonged to the light.
