parading around like a creature
who doesn't bare teeth and claws.
but there's still fresh blood
dripping from the teeth
that grazed us.

under a black & white filter.
beauty is pain,
beauty breeds gain,
beauty is insane.

the mirror is the enemy
to all who lay eyes upon it.
even nightmares seem
more bearable
than pressing your hands
to a mirror
and asking for forgiveness.
for some semblance of peace.
for a shred of admiration
