Two weeks passed since spring break, and Ayanna hadn't even stepped one foot into school or work. Both her family and the Ventura's knew about her and Ava's breakup - and to say she was distraught was an understatement.

She didn't see any flaws in how she treated her girlfriend in the pass few years, but she beat herself up as she rewinded Ava's words to her over and over again. To make things worse, Ava hadn't even called to patch things up or see if she would even considering taking her back. It was as if she didn't care.

Ayanna had even texted her a few times to start up a conversation, but they always fell on death ears. She was confused how she was the one who had gotten cheated on, but was being treated like the one who did the cheating.

"Ayanna hunny, your dad called again"

Ruth, Ayanna's mom cracked open the door to her bedroom.

Her dad had been calling because he needed Ayanna back in the office. She also had one more absence available before all her professors dropped her from their roster.

"How long do you think you're going to need?" Her mom asked sincerely, sitting at the edge of her bed, "The girl hasn't even called you yet"

"I know mom" Ayanna rolled her eyes, "it's just...I didn't see us heading this way".

Ruth loved and sympathized with her daughter, but she had a disdain for her stupidity. Ava hadn't been the most discrete throughout the years with her cheating, however Ayanna was always so into her
studies or being a homebody she didn't even notice.

That's how uninterested she was in her own girlfriends life. She believed because they grew up together, there was no need to spend as much quality time or even have sex anymore. Their love exceeded that, or so she believed.

"Baby girl, you guys are like night and day" Ruth truthfully said, "why don't you try guys? You've never dated anyone besides Vee".

Her mother would've loved to see her daughter start dating men. While she had nothing against her daughters' lifestyle, she definitely wanted grandkids one day - made the old fashioned way.

"She's just going through a phase Ma" Ayanna assured her mother, "she'll be back".

Ruth had no choice but to smile and tell her daughter everything would be okay. Her inexperienced mind was definitely her downfall.

"Ryann, I need you to put in a maintenance request for apartment B7" Ms. Diane paged over the phone speaker.

Ryann pressed one to speak back, "Ok, I'll have it done in a few".

After clicking back over, Ryann began to start the request for the repair. She had buried her head into work and studies since coming home from Miami. Ava had reached out to her multiple times, but she was giving her the silent treatment. She hadn't seen her little girlfriend either, but she was glad about that. It seemed as though Ayanna was off the face of the earth.

Hearing the front door open, Ryann hadn't looked up from her work but told the person she'd be right with them.

After only a few moments she looked up to meet the customers gaze.

The tall handsome man stood behind the desk, stroking his fluffy beard.

"What can I help you with?" She asked.

"I'm looking for a one bedroom, I called for a showing" he answered.

Knowing she was the only worker in the office, she would have to be the one to show him the apartment. Looking through the online documents, she checked too see which apartments were vacant.

"Okay, do you have your ID"

The man handed over his ID, allowing Ryann to make a copy with the machine for their records. She couldn't help but to check out his name.

"Santana White" she read in her head. His name definitely fit his looks. He had to be about 6'2 with silky wavy hair and a full beard.

"You can follow me. We have one available in the C building and one in the B. I'll take you C first since that's the refurbished one" Ryann informed the client as she grabbed the complex keys.

The man did as he was told and followed behind Ryann to the unit. He couldn't help but check her out as her round butt protruded through her work pants. But he wasn't here for pleasure, just business. He was sure once he put the money down for the apartment he would be seeing her again on other terms.

Ryann opened the door to the second floor unit. It was small and raggedy, but Santana didn't need the apartment for residence. It was a perfect spot in the ducky to bag up his work and keep his packages.

"This jawn cool" he said, walking from the bedroom to the kitchen, "I'll do the application".

"Okay, lets go back to the office and I'll get your paper work started".

It didn't take long to guide the man through the application. After doing so, she took his payment and told him they would be in touch in 24-48 hours when his approval was sent through the apartment agency. Ryann wouldn't hate to see him on the regular, she mused to herself.

After a few more hours at work, her day had ended and it was time to go home. The ten hour shifts she was busting out were killing her, but the rent recently went up and the girls were forced to put out a little extra from their checks. If that wasn't enough, Mrs. Diane was starting to bug Ryann about her time and attendance. Due to her catching public transportation, tardiness was a constant thing.

The El train always broke down or was late, causing her to be running into work ten to twenty minutes late regularly. Losing her job would be almost the end of the world to her.

Leaving out of the office, Ryann locked the door behind her as she was the last one to leave. The night wind wasn't as harsh as usual, as the month had entered into March and spring wasn't far behind.
She was just about to order her lyft, when a familiar all black Murano pulled over to the sidewalk.

"Ryann?" Ava smiled, putting the window down.

She thought she was clever recreating the first time her and Ryann met, only to be met without a crack of a smile. Ava had been reaching out to her since Miami, but Ryann wasn't feeling up to talking to her. What did she possibly have to say?

Ava's last resort was to try Ryann's job the same time and day she picked her up two months prior.
"Nope, wrong person" Ryann half joked.

"Come on, let me take you home. Please?"

Ava wasn't the type to back track. But Ryann had her trying to retrace her steps as if she lost something. Ava knew she was wrong for how she did Ryann, but that didn't stop her from pursuing her still. She got what she wanted. Always had, always would as far as she was concerned.

Ryann rolled her eyes but reluctantly hopped in the SUV. If she wasn't trying to save money on transportation, she would've opted for the bus.

"Please don't tell me your girlfriend gonna show up, throwing hands" Ryann snarled, "I don't need the drama today".

Ava shook her head, "I told you, that's done with"

"Why wasn't it done with before Miami?" Ryann wanted to know the answer.

Ava had been wining and dining her like she didn't have someone to call her own. Not that it wasn't nice, but Ryann wasn't a gold digger - so the money wouldn't cause her stay.

Ava knew sooner or later she would have to confess if she really wanted Ryann to hear her out.

"Me and Ayanna been together since teenagers" Ava began, "Our families are close, so we grew up together. I ain't saying I don't love her - but as we got older we got distant. Last time we even fucked was four months ago. So it ain't like we in love or no shit like that".

Ryann heard her, but that was no excuse to step out. If she wasn't happy, why not just leave.

"And I didn't mean to get you involved" Ava admitted, "But you the first shawty that ever made me really want to leave her. I just needed time".

Ryann was silent for a while. She knew she missed Ava, but she could be very stubborn. That Ava could admit. She herself was surprised by her actions, she hadn't even reached out to Ayanna yet to see where her mind was. But if she had to be honest, she didn't have the desire to.

"So what? You want to jump in another relationship just to cheat again?" Ryann challenged her.

Shit, you lost em' the same way you got em'. And Ryann wasn't going out like that.

"No, cause if I'm happy I'm not going nowhere" Ava assured her.

She pulled up into a open parking spot in front of Ryann's apartment. The two sat in silence for a while, just in their thoughts. The situation at hand was fucked up - especially how things were transpiring between her and her ex.

The word got around about what went down, because the first thing Ayanna did was run to social media to blast her ex and her dog ways. The gay community was small, so mutual friends of the couple began to reach out and get to the bottom of things. You would think their relationship involved everyone who seemed concerned and not just the two of them.

Ava ignored it though, continuing to post on Instagram regularly as if nothing ever happened. That's what killed Ayanna the most.

Ava knew making her former side chick her girl so early would definitely rub a few peoples feathers wrong.

"I'll think about it" Ryann half promised her, "But you need to make sure things with you and ol' girl are done. And then holla at me. Because the next time she's knocking at your door, I'm fucking you up not her".

Ava assured Ryann she would clear the air with her and her ex. Her feisty attitude turned her on, but she knew it was too early to try and make a move. She simply told Ryann goodnight and that she would call her soon.

Just the fact that she had a chance to make things right were enough for her.
