A six year old girl ran into the training laughing as you kicked the head off a dummy. She stopped dead in her tracks seeing the head rolling to a stop.
"Teach me! Teach me! Teach me how to do that!" She said jumping up and down.
"Oh my god, you're just a child," you said startled and you looked at her.
She smiles widely at you.
"Ummm... uh... where's your mom?" You asked.
"She's dead," the kid said.
You just knew you fucked up already. You don't even know what to say. You don't know how to handle this situation cause you were never taught how to. You just know whatever you say or do is gonna make everything worse.
"Same," You said.
And everything went out the window at that moment. You stood up all tense and she just looked at you. You looked everywhere but her hoping that she might run off or something.
"You're weird," she said.
"Kendra! Your dad is trying to find you, munchkin, he made you lunch," Natasha said walking in in her workout outfit.
"But she was gonna teach me how to kick the head off," Kendra whined pointing at you as you stood there really uncomfortable.
"Later, Go eat," Natasha said.
Kendra whined but ran off. Natasha bursted out laughing at your state.
"Why is there a child here?!" You asked freaking out.
"She's Bucky's kid," Natasha said.
"I don't know who that is!" You said.
"He's the Winter Soldier," Natasha said.
"Oh my god! Then she's tiny little assassin! She's gonna murder me in my sleep!" You said.
Natasha just kept laughing.
"She won't kill you, Hunter, she's really sweet. She remembers birthdays better than her father. She'll make you a birthday card," Natasha said.
"I don't understand children," you mumbled.
"Did you ever get to be a kid?" Natasha asked coming closer to you.
"No. I was always around adults and they made me into an assassin," You said.
"That's probably why you are so scared of kids," Natasha said.
"Oh fun," you said sarcastically. "Can we just spar?"
(Time skip)
"Auntie Nat, Why is that girl in the training room so weird?" Kendra asked as she colored in her coloring book at the table.
"She never had a childhood and she doesn't know how to interact around kids," Natasha said.
"Jesus, Nat, that's just sad," Bucky said coloring outside of the lines.
"She's also pretty awkward," Natasha said sipping her tea.
"Who is she?" Bucky asked.
"Her name is Hunter. She was working on her own until the Director moved her onto our team while you and Kendra went away for summer break," Natasha explained.
"Hunter?" Bucky said shocked at the name.
"Hey, it's better than Bucky," Natasha said.
Kendra started giggling and pointing at Bucky.
(Time skip)
"Bitch, you and me are roasting fucking marshmallows— are you building a lego set?" Wanda asked bursting into your room and you are sitting at your desk which is by the door.
"I'm building the lego Death Star," you muttered.
"Well, take a break, we're making s'mores," Wanda said. "And put on a shirt."
You slipped on a pair of black joggers over your shorts and quickly put on your black high top converse. You grabbed the cleanest hoodie you have which ended up being a white cropped NASA hoodie.
You followed Wanda to the kitchen. You both grabbed marshmallows, snacks, candy, graham crackers, chocolate, and beer. She leads the way outside and you both have to your iPhone's flashlight to get to the fire pit.
"Just put everything down in one of the chairs," Wanda said placing what she grabbed down onto a wooden lawn chair.
You placed down everything on top of hers. She hands you the matches.
"I'll be right back. I gotta go grab some blankets," she said.
"Lit," You said and got started on the fire as she went off going back into the compound.
The fire's light lit up the area and you sat down on one of the logs. Wanda soon comes back with a guitar, Natasha, and blankets.
"We need some tunes," Wanda said giving you the guitar. "I also heard you can play."
"Fine," You said taking it.
"Yay!" Natasha said planting herself down in a chair.
(Time skip)
"Come on, munchkin, lets get you back to bed," Bucky said all tired but Kendra has her eyes on the fire outside with people gathered around it laughing.
"Daddy look," Kendra said pointing outside and pulling on his pants leg.
Bucky looks outside and then looks down at her.
"Can we go outside? Please, daddy!" Kendra begged.
He picked her up and placed her on his hip. Bucky opened the glass sliding door. The music is playing softly off of Wanda's speaker.
"Like I was so fucking scared that this kid, my child, decided to wear Chucky mask and I nearly shit myself when they came into my room at 3:13am to tell me that they threw up," Clint said and everyone is laughing.
"I too would shit myself," Sam said laughing.
"And I'd have to clean up your shit," Steve said.
"Watch your language, Stephen," Bucky sassed putting down Kendra.
"The munchkin is up!" Sam announced.
"Kendra, Hunter has marshmallows for you to roast," Natasha said pointing to you.
You grabbed the new bag of marshmallows from behind you and Kendra comes over. Bucky sits on the grass by Steve. You are a bit tense around Kendra but she cares more about roasting the marshmallows.
"You don't wanna put it into the coals or it wouldn't taste... great," you said putting the marshmallow on the stick you gave her.
"Why are we all outside?" Bucky asked.
"Cause the cool kids hang out here," Wanda said. "I also wanted some s'mores."
"Yeah, and I just wanted to finish my Death Star," you mumbled helping Kendra stabilize her stick.
"For someone who never had a childhood, you're pretty childish," Sam said.
"Thanks?" You said.
"It's on fire!" Kendra said freaking out as she pulled out the marshmallow.
You quickly took the stick and Bucky comes over worried that something bad is gonna happen. You blow out the marshmallow.
"It's burnt," Kendra frowned.
"Watch this," you said.
You turned around and whipped the stick away from everyone. The burnt part goes flying into the grass and leaves the insides of the marshmallow on the stick. Everyone bursted out laughing, they've seen you do this multiple times and they still find ever so hilarious.
"There it's not burnt," you said handing back the stick.
She just looked at you and you grabbed the graham crackers and chocolate. You and Bucky helped her set up her s'more.
"I'm out of booze, anybody need more booze?" You asked standing up.
"Nope, we're all good," Clint said.
You nodded and went off inside. Steve gave up his chair for Bucky. Bucky sat down and pulled Kendra into his lap as she ate her s'more.
"So that's Hunter?" Bucky asked as Steve planted himself on the grass.
"Yup," Steve said.
"I thought she was gonna be a lot more awkward," Bucky said.
"Oh she is, when she talks and is sober," Sam said.
"She's like a misunderstood middle child," Clint said. "But we love her dearly."
Bucky covered Kendra's ears and asked quietly, "is she single?"
"Yes," Natasha said.
"Go easy on her. I don't think she's ever gone on a real date, Barnes," Wanda warned.
"Don't treat her like shit, Hunter doesn't need that," Steve said looking at Bucky.
"That's a bad word, Uncle Stevie," Kendra said.
"Hey, you heard nothing, munchkin," Bucky said.
"Hunter! My daddy wants to take you out on date!" Kendra yelled as you came over.
Everyone bursted out laughing at Bucky's face and you quickly made a u-turn and went back inside unable to process anything.
